I have the utmost respect for John for doing this. Takes guts to do what he’s done. He’s had a great career and been a top 2 coach throughout, to realise it’s time is all class.

Wow, a bit speechless. Came out of nowhere that, bit of an odd timing of this announcement on day 2 of preseason. Nevertheless feels like the right move, the club needs change. All the best to him and grateful for what he achieved and how he lead the club.
Sad way to finish his career with another grand final loss. Irrespective of what you think of his coaching.

Horse has been a great coach and throughout his tenure, has been right up there with the likes of Clarkson, Hardwick and Chris Scott. In particular, his ability to keep us near the top, despite the competition equalisation rules around the draft and salary cap is only matched by Chris Scott.
Wish him all the best for the future and a big thank you for everything he has done for our club.

Wow, I'm just stunned, but really is the right call.
I remember listening to a podcast during finals and the gist of it was that it's a shame that a coach is truly only judged on flags won. Never truer words spoken, particularly in the case of Longmire.
But it certainly is time.

Bitter sweet. Whilst I have been advocate for his removal from the club, he has been a very good coach along his tenure and seems loved by the players. Unfortunately he hasn’t got the job done when it matters and it’s the right move for him to go

Thank you for all that you've done. The club is in a better place because of all your efforts. Truly a big loss, ripper coach & even better bloke. This one will be felt hard in the playing group. Speaks volumes of John's character & standing at the club.

thats the odd thing to me. Obviously has been thinking about the loss and the reaction of the fans (which tbh has been one of resignation and frustration) - the club has clearly been shoked at response given even having harley ringing fans to show empathy to the frustration.
But you'd think that would have been done before pre season started surely not a day or two after theyve resumed.
Has he been away on holidays until Monday this week ?
Probably for the best as we need a refresh. Was a great coach at keeping us on top of the ladder, or near it, but was not so good at coming up with a winning strategy for the Grand Final itself. Still, making 5 Grand Finals is nothing to scoff at. Most coaches would kill for that record.
