What part of gameplan, selection, and matchups causes Rampe to be repeatedly outmarked by guys who are barely 6ft.

the zone defence and having to rush to compete.

I mean if you want to do it that way, what part of the gameplan got Malceski to snap a goal from the boundary or Goodes to dribble one through?

You finished clear on top of the ladder. Your problem wasn’t the game plan. Your problem is that you timed your run poorly. Hardwick learnt that in 2018. He said never again will we sprint at the start of a marathon. He then went on to go back to back.
The next part of this is that Cox has also been part of your failures. You are not giving the club the best chance of having the best coach available in the land without an extensive process in finding this person.
I don't give a **** about you, and Richmond, and Hardwick. Get the **** off our board and stop making it about yourself.

You've put in your cheap 2 cents worth about Horse. NOW **** OFF!

It's not just the midfield. How is Rampe's record in GFs?!

Longmire has a right to feel terribly let down by senior players over the journey.

Yep but he kept picking them too

Kinda have an odd feeling about this. I was with Horse for most of his tenure. If you could split his time with us into quarters, I supported (if not always agreed with) him for three quarters of it. Then he lost me in the final quarter. So there's a weird feeling of mourning the departure of a coach who I think did an enormous amount of good, whilst also believing we will be better off for it.

He is our greatest ever coach who contributed to one of our greatest ever periods of success as a club. I hope they're the thoughts he rides off into the sunset with.
The chicken will come home to roost with those that hold this opinion i think (although i hope not obviously). It's much easier being a mediocre club going through a merry go round of coaches, than a solid club. Law of averages says there will come a point where we will no longer be better for it. After 15 years of unwavering demonstration of high standards, this could be the circuit breaker - because the guy who lead it from the front is now gone.

I appreciate everything Horse has done for our club, but it time.
Agreed. 1 flag, 5 GFs, 12/14 finals series and over 300 games. Lead the club through one of the most difficult 2 seasons AFL wide (2020 and 2021) in recent memory and by all accounts a great person and a father figure to a lot of the club. A shame his GF record will be a stain on his record but a club legend in every way

This might just be a me thing and that's OK but I can forgive lock down defenders and the main forwards in a game where the midfield is being completely destroyed. A side of 6 AA defenders will lose when the supply to the opposition forwards is uncontested, clean and repeated. A side of 6 AA forwards won't score when the ball never hits their 50 and when it does it isn't to advantage or even contested.

Now you could argue the forwards didn't get up and compete and that the defenders lacked composure and polish exiting D50 which is also partially true (looking at you Blakey) but if you aren't winning the supply battle a lot has to go right to make up for it
In 2012, our defence was under siege for large parts of that game but fought through. It wasn't like suddenly Paul Puopolo is treating Ted Richards like an under 16 player, like we saw with Lohman and Ah Chee on GF day.

For some reason all the blame seems to go on the midfield, the coach, and the forwards. The defenders seem to get a free pass when some of them, including very senior players, have atrocious records in GFs.

Like I said, a lot went right for us. We were cleaner going forward (both of Mal's goals and Goodes' had no right to go through), Hodge was off for large parts of the game. Gunston and Franklin kicked horribly all day.

Our defenders didn't have a good day but, imo, they were far from the biggest offenders. Blakey aside.

A source familiar with Longmire’s thinking said the premiership coach felt he had got the most he could out of the playing group and it was time for a fresh voice to help take the players forward.

Longmire was not in the Swans’ room on draft night, and a source said he was not present for the first day of pre-season training for the full list on Monday. While a plan had been in place for Cox and Ben Matthews to run pre-season this year, club people were still surprised not to see the head coach there for the first day.

The selection of Sam Reid in 2022 suggests Horse was responsible for a lot.
Selected quote Ted. "Yeah, I know his role too, but that's how they should feel." Of course he should feel responsible. Enough people on here have pointed it out. I just hope the players feel it again. They had it in their hands. It's now in their hands to make amends.

Executive director- Club performance (except days that don't define us) 😀
Not sure about this but hey if it brings fresh air into the playing group without too much angst in the short term - ok Harley but I hope u are on top of this.

I certainly think this is a possibility. It is worth the risk for those who think that that sustained success isn't leading to flags.

No list is ever perfect. They have a superb list, and will be exceptionally hard to beat - they are strong favourites for 2025 and for good reason. But to suggest any list can't be improved or has no deficiencies is fanciful for mine.

For instance - for all the hate he has got, a player the quality of Daniher is a big loss to replace. They've got no shortage of good players looking for an opportunity, sure. But he had a nice mix of skills, and performed in latter years fairly consistently at a pretty high level. We sure could have used a forward/ruck (no insult to Mclean meant here) of that quality on Grand Final day.
You're right. I didn't think of the loss of Daniher. He is a loss as I don't rate Hipwood at all, especially now with Daniher gone.
I'm thinking more of who gets added to their GF team. 4 ACL injured players returning plus 2 excellent additions via the draft.
