Hate, hate, hate including cats?
In the TDS thread and other left v right threads, I excuse the contempt directed towards an entire demographic class as part and parcel of vigorous debate; there is no denying that Trump is a polarising and controversial figure, and left v right arguments will always degenerate from time to time.
Occasionally, I have considered and suggested there might be something more pathological to this maliciousness. But It's appearance here is something sufficiently different, that it strikes me as confirmation of an undeniable underlying pathology.
Unlike Trump or other provocative speakers, Peterson has never clumsily made any racist or sexist opinions. He does not extol extreme right wing pro-business ideology. Rather he provides strong justification for limiting wealth excess and a clear and legitimate role for the progressive movement.
From a political perspective, Peterson is harmless. The political in his ideas is limited to his critique of Post Modern Ideology. There really is no other reason for anyone to find him of political interest because aside from his critique of PoMo he stays within the limits of his academic field and promotes a particular but not illegitimate strand of Jungian ideas.
The question I am grappling with is that at rock bottom - post modernism is merely a projection of self loathing.
Never understood how the little darlings thought safe spaces and trigger warnings could possibly result in more resilient and healthier minds.

It's not about hate, it's about some objectively worse things getting more attention than some much better things.
Therefore size of audience doesn't tell us a lot about quality or value or merit.
If you didn't understand that, ask the person who helps you switch on your computer.

Talk to any psychologist or psychiatrist and they will tell you that "avoidance" will make any anxiety or phobia worse. The only way to conquer an irrational fear is to be exposed to the subject of said fear. Hence safe spaces and the like will only lead to poorer outcomes.
If that was what you were talking about.
Do we respect Peterson for his climate change scepticism? Or is more like he's sucking on that Koch Brother money?
