Is he a clinate change skeptic?
Not of the science AFAIK, but believes a lot of anti-humanist sentiment drives the narrative that comes out of it. Stuff along the lines of viewing humans as a scourge or virus on the planet and it not being good (who'd have thought?). I remember him talking a while ago about how amazing a new invention was that automatically went around the ocean cleaning up junk for recycling or something along those lines. So he isn't anti-environmentalism or anything.

There is an element in the climate change camp who are enjoying the opportunity to burn down the big business.
Yes, they're secretly Marxists and coming after your business next.

Edit: Unnecessarily snarky but breaking news: water is wet. Obviously there is an element who enjoy it. It doesn't take a genius to see that there will be inevitably socialists who believe in climate change.

The science behind climate change is sound and climate change is real, but it was Michael Crichton I believe, of all people, who was one of the first to identify that the green movement was a refuge for socialists after the fall of communism. No longer could they wage their arguments against capitalism on the basis of a competing political ideology, but they could on an appeal to environmentalism and an apocalyptic future.

That said, the current heatwave in NSW is ****ed, and anyone who believes this is a once off and not the future is a moron.

That's why the Greens rejected the Carbon trading model because it was a market solution to reducing Co2. They wanted more of a socialist carbon tax instead.

Interesting in England, the right supports climate change action and the left is the climate deniers.

Marx openly lauded the ability of humankind to shape the natural environment and to make nature the slave of humankind's whims and desires. That seems a world away from people wanting environmental protection.

Absolutely. His ideology was built upon the industrial age (the exploitation of natures resources, [and human labor]) .

I rate the man a genius for his time, but his ideology is now mostly redundant.

He did correctly identify issues relating to capitalism (as it stood at the time). Communism itself has proven an utter failure though so he stands as another political scientist who provided a cure worse than the symptoms.

I wouldn't go along with that completely.

The average Chinese peasant is doing a lot better than once was the case, but communism has a "use by date" once it achieves it's initial goals.
