Targeting young stars at big and or successful clubs like Richmond, Sydney and Collingwood is a waste of our time. Maybe we've had our eye on JDG for a longer time and it's just another case of bad timing going for him in his break out year but it seems like we're just setting ourselves up for another public failure
That said I've been a long time fan of de Goey and think he's a good choice for us. Cant be unhappy with the club's taste.

This. Why do we waste our time? Players very rarely go from big club to small. Just doesn’t happen. And that will be why he wouldn’t leave them. If we were on par in terms of size of supporter base playing at mcg every week he’d consider it.

Anyway, these guys can do what they want. I love our club and its people. We want people at North who actually want to be there.

I hope people are prepared for the loss of Mason Wood in the process.

We simply don't have the currency for this, without losing someone like that.

I've heard "Whispers" from separate sources from both camps that "talks" between the parties have been "detailed". However DeGoey is keen to remain a Pie. We are being used as leverage to up Collingwood's Offer IMO. :stern look

The offers fake, its slamming your proverbial balls on the table again and demanding recognition for the amount you can offer.

That is all. Move along. I think it looks ******ed however because De Goey will say no, we'll look stupid and still sitting there with tonnes of cash to spend. Get one player over the line and then do this kinda stuff. You can't flaunt without a indicator of past success, the failure to move players goes back numerous years now.

I think guys like Wood or Atley could be on the table, they are good quality with value but wouldn't see the team fall apart if either of them had to go.

I am a bit concerned that if Thomas and Scott nominate us we wont have the currency for them and an expensive trade, would much prefer us go after a free agent with the wad of cash, if you need a massive wad of cash and a premium trade then it may not be the as big a win as it seems initially.

thinking gubby actually.....

Ben Niall for sure.

Not even hard to figure out. He's been drip feeding Jake this sort of shit for a while.

I imagine we probably would of been keeping Gubby low key, amazing coincidence the Age breaks Gubby yesterday and this today.

Stevens breaks it for the Hun almost simultaneously with the Age, there's definitely been deals done to keep the leaks hush hush between the journo's, as it's all bipartisan.

Smells of the Niall brothers to me.

"If he can stay, then obviously we would like to be able to facilitate that. But if he gets a godfather offer, then what do you do?" Niall said.
"We're in that sort of situation that we're not looking to leave. We're going to try and have a conversation with Collingwood, we'll try and get a deal done, but obviously we've also got to be realistic about, if there's such a huge gap, then you've got to look at it."

Collingwood, don't increase the offer and then you get this:
'North Melbourne have made an aggressive $5 million offer for Collingwood midfielder Jordan De Goey.
The starting offer is for $1 million a year for five years for the young out-of-contract Pies star."

100% Niall has leaked it

we should see how throwing Atley on the trade table works for us, him being a RFA and all.

Atley is a free agent, I think Preuss is one that could be on the table to a few clubs crying out for a ruckman.

Restricted free agent. Who exactly is going to beat us in a bidding war?
