Trade wise, what would Collingwood offer Gold Coast to get Lynch, because De Goey would be worth less than that trade.
Great question

We either want him or we don't. If we do we have to pay overs. Collingwood will throw everything at him to make up for the dollars shortfall. Also the Pies are looking ok at the moment and probably closer to a GF on paper than we are. $1mil a year is the minimum we would need.I'd be okay with a $4M offer over 5. He's not worth more than that and that's stretching it to pry him.
Bearing in mind that pick #12/13 this year is worth a top 3 in most other years ...I come in Peace!
I am interested to see what you guys thought his trade value would be.
It's my opinion there's no way Collingwood would accept this as a trade. De Goey was Pick 6 for starters... now has 4 years maturing under his belt and has reportedly been offered 5 million over 5 years as a 22 year old.
With North clearly going to make the 8 IMO (and I assume in yours) that would mean a Pick outside the top 10 - lets call it say Pick 12 or 13 and a fringe player I've never heard of... for a 22 year old being offered a million a year for 5 years, and his contract ends when he's 27! Surely you see that is way, way unders???
Collingwood wouldn't accept that trade surely.
Realistically what would you give up for De Goey?
I do note most on this thread are calling the rumour BS and don't think De Goey is worth the reported Grandfather offer. (P.S. I agree)...
Reminder... I come in Peace!
Well Cunners and Higgins get a pay rise then.We either want him or we don't. If we do we have to pay overs. Collingwood will throw everything at him to make up for the dollars shortfall. $1M per year for 5 years for de goey
I agree with a few of your points but you left out the part we're Collingwood have said publicly one more off field indiscretion for degoey and he's gone. That hurts Collingwood at the trade table.
A huge chunk of my cognitive thought process.I never actually saw that come from the club... jusr reporters from the hun saying "it was their belief".
5 million for a kid at 22... and say Pick 13!
Seriously what would you be willing to give up for a pick 6, from 4 years ago who's worth a million a year for 5 years?
The Pies publicly floated whether 33-year-old Wells might retire given a long-term lisfranc injury that will seriously impact his training in the pre-season.
But Wells’ manager Liam Pickering said recently he would honour the final year of his contract, said to be just under $500,000.
It will impact the Pies ability to match a huge offer for 22-year-old De Goey, set to be handed an increased midfield role in Adam Treloar’s absence.

I would say our first plus a player (Wood?), or our first plus a second we secure from elsewhere via another trade. (I'm thinking Preuss to GWS or similar.)
Lynch is a free agent, so Collingwood don't need to offer anything other than $$$$Trade wise, what would Collingwood offer Gold Coast to get Lynch, because De Goey would be worth less than that trade.
For a Pick 6 player.... who's had 4 years maturing and you're willing to pay 1 million dollars a year for 5 years.
With all due respect I hope you're a real estate agent... I'll buy propery off you tonight!

Then again he's not (yet) of Martin quality so if we pushed through with it and they called our bluff that's a decent salary cap portion.ffs have we not learned a lesson?
Once again making an offer to a player who’s part of a big club on the rise (on fire actually), in the top 8 and potential top 4.
Not even going to start on what’s required for the trade itself.
Seen this before, I know how this story ends thanks.

Amazing what a change of guernsey can do to ones intelligence levels and overall dental health.

Not sure about that... If he is going to get the $$$ being reported, they may be better off getting the compo from the AFL, which of course will be in their favour as the AFL's golden child.Gold Coast will definitely match any offer to Lynch, forcing suitors to trade for him.
It would be criminal to give up a Wood/Atley and a first for this guy. DeGoey basically plays in the same position as those guys - we would not be gaining anything material on the field and we are giving up a first rounder in the process. We have put years of development into Wood/Atley - Atley is now paying off and Wood will soon.Durds and Nielson we'd be laughed at.You can't try and poach a guy with 5 mil and offer his ex club two blokes that can't get a game. Would need to be Atley, McDonald or Wood type, plus our first which is by the looks going to be a late first rounder. This will hurt!
