I'd pay him top dollar, I really, really want Battle to come to the Hawks.

He is a lovely shot for goal when he goes forward. We would suddenly have 4 genuine swingmen who are more than capable at either end... Sicily, Hardwick, Weddle and Battle. (Although Weddle can play everywhere).

4 quality swingmen is a massive advantage and provides so much flexibility and unpredictability for the opposition. Most clubs only have 1 or 2 if that, or they dont use them.

He seems a really genuine person too.

Lastly, he and his family are all rusted on hawks. We've seen the step up Ginni has made living his childhood dream this year, playing at the club you used to adore can get a few more % out of most players.

Really excited about this one. I dont mind the Saints getting band 1, he is worth a first round pick in a trade.

Makes missing out on McKay feel like a bit of a blessing. Both solid players but Battle's versatility puts him ahead for me

They're signing a contract FOR 2025.

They don't measure it against previous years! They measure it against OTHER 2025 CONTRACTS.
There are numerous players signing contracts for 2025.

How can you judge compensation when those players may sign after Battle!?!

That is why it’s based on the current seasons salaries!!!!

100% he will

If he is getting 5/6 mill that will definetly put him in that category.

Cannot think of 44 players earning 1.2 mill or more
They're forecasting between 30 and 54 players to earn $1m in 2025.

We arnt paying 950+

No matter how much Ralph is saying it

Bloke is still a RFA in his eyes
This is funny.

You blokes are going to land the player.

This defensive mechanism some of your fanbase - you included are doing about how much you will pay Battle is hilarious.

He isn’t leaving for the same money on the table OR LESS then what he will get to stay.

It will be more and it will be more than enough to justify the switch without pissing people off.

It will also land the Saints band 1.

900-950. All the same really. Once you overlay it with a 6 year contract. It’s band 1.

That’s the cost to get him.

Yes he is an unrestricted free agent. No he isn’t exercising his rights for your made up scenario about his salary.

Lol, you judge it on who HAS signed, numb nuts.

There will potentially be only two restricted free agents left by the time free agency signing begins. There will only be a handful of significant players left unsigned, same as every year.

You can't compare 2025 contracts with previous years, that's complete nonsense. It defies all common sense.

If they were signing May then there wouldn't be any "defensive" mechanism from any Hawks supporters.......

It is how it is done.

It’s based on the contracts in the year the player moves.

In your make believe scenario your effectively saying that Perryman signs his deal first GWS gets band 1 and Battle might not and vice versa 😂 😂

See how thick you are?!

The contract is signed in 2024. It’s based on the average deal size for the players in that year.

You keep posting stupid links about the amount of players getting 1m+ in 2025.

Means nothing. It’s average salary over the length of the deal - so to make it clear for your peanut brain.

McKay is probably the highest paid player this year.

His average guaranteed salary was reportedly just enough to trigger band 1 last year.

That is the amount that needs to be beaten.

Not his $1m+ in isolation in 2024 or 2025

Is this guy top ten in his position? Top 15?

Andrews, Sam Taylor, Moore, May, Lever, Weitering, Collins, Barrass, Himmelburg, McKay, de Koning, Allir Allir, Sam Collins, Alex Pearce, Noah Balta - hell, there's also Wilkie on his own team!

We'll see.

In your world, you have his FUTURE contract getting compared to PAST contracts, and somehow think that makes sense. FFS, he HAD a 2024 contract himself! They're not comparing his deal against things that have already concluded. They're comparing the life of his future deal against the life of all other future deals to see where he ranks.

The guy is absolute mediocrity, so if somehow that gets a first round compo, then the entire game is cooked.
