Surely an easy decision if he mainly just wants to go back to Adelaide.

Not really, it seems your club is far better able to sell itself to prospective recruits than ours is. Something is not right with our recruitment team.
Agree but problems run far deeper than our recruitment team. Club deserves to be slammed if they miss out on Cumming.

The crows are going to have to make sure to blow Ports deal away here. The optics of losing this deal are not going to be good.
Not that easy. Clubs still have to maintain the necessary cap space looking forward. Optics might not be good but the bigger picture is more important. I think Cumming may have already chosen Port btw.
100%. Unfortunately, "blowing Port's deal away" isn't in our typical MO. Our approach to landing trade targets has often been described as 'transactional' rather than 'making them feel wanted'. Often means we've missed out.

Sam Edmund 50/50 on Cumming to Port or Crows (said this today)
Chris Dittmar has been told by his contacts at the club that Port are not confident of landing him (said this yesterday)
Update: Listened to Tex on MMM this morning, interesting to hear he and a few Crows players had a beer with Ditts before the Brownlow on Monday night, maybe Tex was his source for that comment yesterday? Tex did get asked about it this morning and it was more the tone of his answer that sounded a lot like someone very confident Cumming will be heading to the Crows, worth a listen (initially gave a sarcastic answer to stir up Ditts and then finished with “hopefully he heads to our footy club and we will see how that plays out within a few days”).
Rowie mentioned that Tex had dinner with Cumming and his fiancee over the weekend while he was in town for the medicals. Cumming also didn’t meet with Ken due to their prelim commitments.

You haven’t chatted to enough of our supporters! If we don’t get him we are a terrible, if we offered more than Port we are a terrible club paying so much for an injured player. That’s crows life

I'm sure you're quite aware of the relationship Tex has with Cumming?
I highly doubt that it's always solely about the $. AFC is mired in mediocrity and in the middle of a continuing rebuild and on the verge of turning over numerous key positions in our football department. There's no dominant side at the moment, so you wouldn't be wrong to suggest he could be playing in a GF at Port next year. Obviously if the variation in contract value is too large, he might ignore likelihood of success as an option. Or he could be solely about the coin. But if he isn't an outlier, then there would be a certain amount of $ that he's happy to concede if he's going to be playing regular finals footy and challenging for a flag.

I think everyone is aware by now, I just think it would be strange for Cumming to pick Adelaide based on 1 year where he might get to play with Walker (That's even if Tex is best 22)?
Not saying he won't pick Adelaide but i just don't think it's a huge factor
Would help at least initially with developing greater relationships and connections within the club, I don’t think he has any of those kinds of bonds at Port?
That said, Port does easily have the club success leaning in their favour

History says Port just do it better when it comes to players picking either crows or port.. must be all that crap they tell they about the history of the now defunct 1870 Port Magpies

Fair, but it would definitely be a factor. At the end of the day, it will largely come down to the club offering the most money and prospects of success.
