No club is going to pay overs for a player that's ooc

Dogs had there chance to get 2 first rounders from Essendon but Dogs payed hard ball and held him to his contract now you get what he's worth.
Lucky for us he’s not even linked with Essendon then.

When were there ever 2 first rounders on the table?

I get what you're saying but a future first does nothing for us that I can see. I think, if he does leave, and I personally think he will, we will be asking for 2 R1 picks with our second going back, or a first and a player that benefits us eg: KPD, small pressure fwd, wingman etc with a possible second going back depending on the player quality of course.

Dogs didn't play hard ball, we wanted to keep him but everything has its price which the Bombers and Dodo didn't want to meet. Pretty typical of the club really in that they sell a dream and future to someone (who's contracted), ask them to make the public call and then don't come to the party and leave him hanging. The club was and is in a shambles and has been since the farcical appointment of Worsfold. It was never going to be anyone else and they went through this faux process to "find their next coach" and all they did was waste the time of the other hopefuls.

It really isn't. Anybody who suggests otherwise is kidding themselves.

In any case, this draft everyone who knows what they're talking about says there's a clear cut top 5 (including Ashcroft) then the rest are different shades of average.

He isn't worth 4 straight up. 4 for Dunkley and 11 as the basis of the deal is very doable. What goes on top is where the negotiation would be haggled if he were to nominate Essendon.
Who are the clear cut top 5?

Won't get 2 first rounder for an ooc player.

Dunkley is a big fan of US sports where player movement is much more fluid and his dad, who manages him, felt like his loyalty to Sydney wasn't rewarded so I think he just sees AFL as a career and wants to make the best financial decision for the contract that will see him through his prime years.
I think it goes a bit beyond pay as well. I think he sees his profile behind a few bigger names at the dogs and probably feels like he could be more important at other clubs which might help with media gigs post footy.
Pies it is then 😊. Media gigs for the Dunk post footy

There's no way Dunkley even entertains Essendon given we have no coach, are a shambles on and off field and are way behind Port, Brisbane and Bulldogs on field.

I think he is worth about a mid first (around 9-12) given he is uncontracted. Port or Brisbane's first pick should get it done as a straight swap IMO. If he wants to stay in Victoria but wants to leave Bulldogs, then Richmond is a good option. I can see them go for him if they miss out on Taranto. Their first should be enough depending on how far they go in September. If he somehow wants to come to Essendon, then pick 4 is too much. 22 + 4 for Dunkley and 11 would be a decent trade for both sides.

I'd say we'd be more inclined to go 4 for Dunkley and our 2nd which is around the same mark for points but still a reasonable value which is much better then the Amon compo port fans seem to think is fair

I’d say Dogs have less bargaining power considering he is uncontracted so whilst Dogs would want that, I think it’s very unlikely for Essendon to entertain a deal without having a first round selection. Which is why the above deal is something I believe both parties would eventually agree on. That would give Bulldogs a 3rd top 5 selection in a row while contending which is a pretty good deal

A deal will certainly be done if he does nominate Essendon, but he’s very very unlikely to nominate Essendon anyway.

I disagree,

Dunkley wasn't on that rich list of proposed contract values (lowest was an estimated $500,000 > $650,000 - Charlie Dixon), we have enough room in the salary cap to front load a 4 year deal of somewhere around a $1m a season mark and that would be enough to turn anyones head.

Dunkley will go where the money is. It's as simple as that. He's already had on field success in his career and he's in it to maximise his earnings.

Fortunes of teams can change quickly good or bad. 12 months ago Essendon pushed back into finals with a whole host of young talent.

If Essendon offered 200-300k a season more than others then he will be at Essendon.
