So when JHF in 15-20 years time comes back as an assistant coach….we’re just gonna be like….

‘Hey Jason….welcome back buddy!!!!’

We gave Josh a chance at an AFL career and he left us in a time of need. Imagine if we had him playing in our 2014-15 finals….he may have been the difference in pinching one of the prelims.

I don’t forget.

I’ll never forget the way in which he left us, but I do remember the tough love clarko gave him as soon as he entered the hawks. He could be a good addition to the team if he does it for all the right reasons, he has high standards himself and isn’t afraid to say it like he is so I’m happy to have him back

The whole Jo$h Gib$on thing was always pretty silly. He didn't go to Hawthorn because they could pay him a lot more money. If he'd won two B&Fs for us, he would have commanded more money whereas he had to fit within a tight salary cap in a three-peat dynasty.

Boy you lot massively overrate our teams from 2000-2015

we were never, i repeat never, going to win a flag even if ‘one player made the difference’. We were serious battlers who refused to bottom out properly and we paid the piper for it almost 2 decades later with the mother of all bottom-outs leaving the club in complete disarray, that thankfully despite all the disorganizations we kept being financially stable and profitable to see us to where we are now.

But it’s been that long now, I really wish people took off the rose—tinted spectacles on this, our teams under Laidley and the best under Scott were good, but not great. A prelim was lucky, and we bowed out of it quickly. Only making it to the grand final matters and then you can ponder the what-if’s but everything before that separates the wheat from the chaff, and there were definitively better teams than us during those years that even lining up on GF day you’d question our chances.

We’ve finally drafted and traded in sufficiently good enough talent and acquired a very experienced and successful department/coaching group that has put us in a better position than we’ve been in over 20 years, only now would I rate our chances as being legitimate in the current landscape in due time.

Time to move the **** on and just enjoy the rise.

I think you're remembering it all a little bit wrong. Josh Gibson left at the end of 2009. Brad Scott coached us from 2010. There was a crossover with Scotts trying to convince Gibson to stay but he had clearly checked out mentally and Clarko had made him feel a lot more wanted.
Yes. Can clearly remember Scotts taking a parting swing at him saying in a presser; We only want players who want to play for the North Melbourne Football Club.

Clarkson isn’t just bringing him on board to look nice. He’s obviously sees value in what Josh can provide from his experience as a 3x Premiership 2x BNF player. It wouldn’t surprise me if he’s been brought in to help with the culture side either, despite being a bit of a f***wit he’s a big personality and a good time. Imagine he’d be much more relatable to the younger guys then Clarko, Ratts & Blakey.

It also wouldn’t surprise me one bit either if Josh wanted to help the club that he did turn his back on for a really successful Hawks era.
