Call me a blinkered Collingwood supporter but I barely even noticed him this year! Didn't create any headlines at all... I'm staggered he beat Swan and Ablett... but I guess with Collingwood having Swan, Pendlebury and Didak and Geelong having Ablett, Bartel and Selwood stealing votes off each other, whereas Juddy playing a lone hand at Carlton... plus being an umpire's favourite counting in his favour...

I understand all Carlton supporters getting right behind Juddy as their sole hope in the Brownlow, of course I do as I followed Nathan Buckley for all those years Collingwood was missing out on the finals altogether... but don't forget a) his missed the first 3 games of the season to suspension, and b) he nailed Fremantle superstar and very fair player Matthew Pavlich square in the cheekbone with his elbow and split it wide open... permanently scarring his face for life...

And what did he get for that? Absolutely nothing... it's like Judd is a law onto himself in the AFL... you remember when Tony Lockett did it what happened? Tony Lockett was probably a far superior player to Judd and there is not many players you can say that kind of thing about... but Lockett was absolutely cruficied in the media and by the tribunal when he caved in that Sydney player's nose. From memory, I think he got 16 weeks!!

Juddy, nothin... nothin at all...

And he comes back from his 3 game suspension to poll 5 back to back best on grounds???? That has NEVER been done in history!!!

Look I don't want to write off Judd as a bloke or a player, I'm doing my absolute best to take off my Collingwood cap and haven't implicated the Carlton Football Club in any of this at all...

But something fishy is afoot... As if somebody KNEW everybody would think that nobody would think Juddy truly had a rat's chance of winning the Brownlow what with missing the first three games and then narrowly avoiding an extended holiday care of the tribunal...

I mean, Dane Swan's odds before the count were something like $1.20, Judd, although a previous winner and clearly the best player on his team, was paying $21.00!!! Never ever have his odds been so high, never ever has someone else's odds been so low...

Wouldn't take much money to make a serious killing off the bookies if you knew Judd was an absolute certainty to win, would it?

I mean you bet what probably $5 on a Judd-Swan quinella and nearly win $170! Imagine KNOWING Judd would win and chucking $10,000 on it...

Read this article about it...

I don't know but something really stinks here...

Not just Collingwood supporters, a LOT of other supporters are saying similar kind of things.

We know this isn't right...

Please God, tell me corruption and the bookies have not struck the AFL...

But when you think about it, of course they have...

I really doubt even that Judd or Carlton or many in the AFL would have had a clue about this but I mean with Swan having 20 chances to Judd's 1 according to the bookies, it's a major fluke and surprise... and who better to artificially elevate but deflect conspiracy theories away from than to give it to Judd, the figure that Collingwood and their favourite Dane Swan hate most, knowing at the start of the year with Ball and Jolly signing to Collingwood they were about to have a pretty good year and Swan would be most likely the favourite.

Hell, throw in Ablett, the other one who looked like a sure bet at season's start, go Judd-Ablett-Swan in a trifecta what did you get?

Pretty mind spinning, huh? Did you see, even Juddy himself thought so too...

I feel sorry for him being put in this position... by his standards, he had an ORDINARY year. Barely made All- Australian team on the bench, and wasn't top 5 in any of the other major awards...

And remember in the Brownlow there is NO chance... it is ALL decided by the pen of a human... so imagine if you and your 6 or so umpire mates had it set so you would all only umpire Carlton games this year, you seen him get rubbed out at the end of last season and see his odds go sky high... and you know that YOU are the one who decides all this...

Why not plonk $100,000 at 101-1 and set yourself up for life?

I agree that Judd was very ordinary, and not in the top 10 midfielders this year, but saying it was fixed is going a bit overboard. It's an unfortunate reality of the voting system where is Carlton win Judd will poll because he basically has to play well for them to win. That said, he got many dubious votes anyway with performances that obviously weren't enough for any other player to poll.

What an unbiased and educated view. You do realise that odds for the brownlow are only set by how much is put on them? So techinally you could have Keplar Bradley as the favourite if all the money was coming in for them. It's purely a numbers game and the fact that Juddy was $21 means jack shit.

People didn't back him because everyone kept getting behind Swan and it kind of became a snow ball of expected victory.

LOL at the "why not plonk 100k on the at 101-1." If any suspicious bets came on then the AFL would investigate. What if the umpires all got around and plonked 100k on Swan to make the top 3? It's rigged I tells ya!

You're a blinkered Collingwood supporter.

Your impotent discomfort is wonderful to behold. Keep it coming.

Why would you waste all that time writing such utter dribble. I'm guesing if the Pies lose on the weekend the umpires have had a big plonk on St.Kilda at the lucrative odds?...LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd write more but I'm way too busy laughing so hard at your crap.

Having seen the recent Pakistanis scandals in regards to the match fixing in Sydney as well in a test when Pak had Eng at 7/102. Do anyone reckon that top afl officials had a hand in this cos Judd's price was like $25 dollars to win Brownlow.

You are blinkered - and possibly worse.

1. Betting odds: Much has been made of the odds. Swan's odds have been massively affected by pumped-up Pie morons who think that they will take everything before them. If you want another example of how betting has completely infiltrated sport in this country, look at the way in which the betting market shapes this and other discussions about the Brownlow.

2. Total recall: over the course of a season several players will stand out. Interesting that both Judd and Ablett (1st and 2nd) had excellent first halves of the season, while Swan had a excellent second half. Now do you think it's possible that because Swan's better half was in the latter part of the season it may have dominated some people's recall? It is a very common decision making mistake to more easily recall things that have happened more recently and value them more highly. The umpires, however, place their votes after each game, when things are more prescient. They are not relying on the faulty recall that many outraged Collingwood supporters are relying on.

3. Conspiracy theories: finally, any conspiracy theorist needs to explain how an organisation that cannot keep Travis Tuck's identity secret from Hutchy could possibly orchestrate a fix involving five separate teams of umpires, including some of the madder ones like Razor Ray. (PS, apparently Juddy was seen parachuting from an airplane over NY in 2001 just before it crashed into the World Trade Center - it was the main reason his shoulders were damaged and he slipped to pick three).

Call me a blinkered Collingwood supporter but I barely even noticed him this year! Didn't create any headlines at all...

you mean like the pendlebury fight, and swan getting his front teeth smashed in a brawl? you're right, judd had no such headlines
a) his missed the first 3 games of the season to suspension, and b) he nailed Fremantle superstar and very fair player Matthew Pavlich square in the cheekbone with his elbow and split it wide open... permanently scarring his face for life...
similar to swanny and his boys giving that poor cleaner brain damage for life at fed square in 2003??
The suspension means nothing, if you are good enough you can win a brownlow from 15 games.
Comparing judd's incident to lockett's is an absolute farce, plugger ran straight at caven with intent to smash his face in. Caven had to have reconstructive surgery, pav had a minor cut and played on.
And he comes back from his 3 game suspension to poll 5 back to back best on grounds???? That has NEVER been done in history!!!
History is made to be broken. Why is it so unbelievable that a player polls 5 BOG's in a row? If Swan did the same thing between the rounds of 12-20 no-one would have said a word, only how good the man is!
I feel sorry for him being put in this position... by his standards, he had an ORDINARY year. Barely made All- Australian team on the bench, and wasn't top 5 in any of the other major awards...
All australian is not the be all and end all, its an opinionated team.
To say he had an Ordinary year really reveals the true poster you are. A JOKE. The freak leads the competition for Hard balls/clearances. Each time he gets the ball he emerges from the bottom of a pack with 3 blokes on his back, the last time swan did this was in fed square in 03

Swan was 1.02 to get the most votes at Collingwood last year, what happened there? I suppose Eddie and Pendlebury fixed it didn't they :thumbsu:

I'm absolutely loving all this bitching, whining, and teeth gnashing (albeit limited teeth gnashing) by the ferals...now all we need is for the Saints to get over the line on Saturday and all will be right with the world .

^^^^ This :thumbsu:

Judd should have got 15 votes max. He was a 30 vote player before he lost his speed when he was at WC. He is not in the same league as Ablett is although he used to be.

The whole night reeked of fixing.

 • Demitrou was well aware of the votes before reading them out.
 • Numerous breaks in between rounds allowed for changing of votes.
 • Twigley had her chesty bumps out again.
 • Pendles was intentionally given 3 votes on a number of ocassions to stall Swanny's run.
 • The MRP were in on it and that is why Judd wasn't penalised.
 • The head of Chubb Security is originally from Pakistan.

Seriously though, something did catch my eye that I thought was a bit suss. Going to the ad break just prior to Round 19, Juddy was getting up to go out the back to get the acceptance speechthat his spin doctors had prepared. As he was walking out, someone shook his hand in a congratulatory manner. I swear it was Vlad the Masticator himself.

The truth is out there.

What is this shit? Seriously? I love the Brownlow. It is a great event conducted in good spirits and always holds a sense of intrigue and interest for the spectator and becomes an honour for the winner. FWIW I thought Judd's year was outstanding. He was penalised for that stupid incident last year and he responded in the best possible way - playing top-bracket footy and stamping himself as one of the greats - see his 3rd quarter against the Swans for evidence. Give it up.

Those that did their homework on the event (see the above poster) are not at all surprised by this result.

Loving this stuff.....would rather be playing in a GF this weekend but gee it is classic stuff...

Yep, you're blinkered.

Love how the Collingwood supporters are bitching about Swan's team mates taking votes off him and causing him to lose.
And if those same mates didn't poll at all it would then be a 'fix to stop the Pies getting a Brownlow tri-fecta' wouldn't it..!!?!
LOL

If anyone should be pissed off it should be Ablett & Pavlich - for the half arsed apology Judd offered in his acceptance speech.

Some of you guys really need to go back to watching suburban leagues if the big time is too much for you to process.

Rock on!!! :)

It was actually after he got the 3 votes in Round 20, meaning he could not lose, only Swan could have tied with him with BOG in the last 2 rounds. You would also have noticed that Rebecca went with him, most likely both of them were tidying themselves up for the flood of media commitments that were about to be thrust on both of them.

If you are going to try & prove a conspiracy theory, make sure you have your facts right first.
