Jumper clash fails

We didn't insist anything.

It was changed from a full black back BiB (Black in Black) jumper a while ago now. We used to wear the current home jumper in showdowns but it was that popular, it became our new home jumper.
Isn't the number panel traditional to the Prison Bar guernsey's of old?

Looks great and doesn't clash - perhaps the AFL are actually coming close to getting the balance right on clash policy (!). Dogmatic insistence on 'dark kit vs. light kit' is no less daft than dogmatic insistence on away teams wearing white shorts - so long as the teams can be easily distinguished (which Geelong and Melbourne tonight clearly can be), combinations like these will hopefully be seen more often.

More an 'away strip' than a clash, given we're wearing it in all away games except Indigenous Round. The only match-up here where I could see this strip being a problem is against Geelong in Round 21...

Every team should have this. Takes an hours tops to mock up and if they all work together to figure this out it would take a day maximum and we wouldn't have all this cafuffle weeks down the track.

Probably a compromise more than anything. I seem to recall a poll being done among Port members/fans - the Prison Bars didn't even win the poll.

Was a rhetorical question really. Just causes possible problems that don't need to exist. The north away jumper is good but again why the blue chunk at the bottom of the back. Hated when Carlton had the white with the navy bottom and sides. It makes sense if you have stripes that will make the numbers impossible to read if they cover the entire back but otherwise keep the one colour. Then wear shorts the same colour as the majority jumper colour.

North’s “clash” jumper for this year is stupidity and should’ve been rejected. Not that the AFL would ever do anything logical on this topic. Big slabs of blue on what should be a white jumper.

Great to see Collingwood in their white strip. It’s the best alternate to Brisbane’s dark-ish maroon.

No need to wear it against Essendon, Richmond or Carlton however. Their jumpers are only black, of course.

We do. We are the only club that consistently applies our clash jumper against Big 4 clubs.

It's funny how the AFL and AFL fans use the word "clash" to describe the exact opposite of clash. If colours and uniforms clashed, then we'd have no problem. The issue is when the colours and uniforms blend and look samey.

We can't even get the basic terminology right. That's how f**kin dumb we are. Yet we're expecting the jackasses in the AFL to fix all this other stuff.

I've said this for years. You'll only ever hear the term 'clash' in reference to mach-day strips in the AFL. Other leagues will refer to them as 'being similar' or 'likely to cause confusion.' Clashing strips are differentiated and is the result you want. It is the purpose of an alternate/away/change strip.

2.
(of colours) appear discordant or ugly when placed close to each other.

Would anyone disagree this looks ugly in context of the aesthetic you want in a football game?

I don’t get it

Richmond and Essendon wear their clashes in the Dreamtime match, but they don’t wear it against Carlton and Collingwood.

But Freo have to wear white against Hawthorn :thumbsu:

This is correct. We are allowed to wear our purple jumper, but have to also wear white shorts

Which makes no sense really - if our purple doesn't clash with them on the jumper why does it clash with them on the shorts?

Similar to today - if Carlton's blue-black jumper doesn't clash with the Dogs why can't they wear the same colour shorts?
