Thinking outside the square! I don't think they would rotate their logo like this but since they have used the diagonal before, it's a feasible design and an orange/charcoal version would be much nicer than the white version they used for their clash jumper.
Probably been done before, but using the inside of the G to represent the Parliament flagpole on a Canberra Jumper for GWS perhaps?
Gold Coast will surely be due for a Port Adelaide/Fremantle like rebrand soon enough. A proper football jumper would be a good start.
Gold Coast yes, but I really like the Giants image. The fact that both GWS and Gold Coast fell into the same trap that Fremantle and Port Adelaide did with such terrible branding and designs is a joke.
That monogram looks very Comedy central.Home, Away and Clash for Gold Coast. If they want to stick with the general design and idea of a monogram then fine but its needs a fix!
Harsh, but fair. That monogram looks very Comedy central.
Which suits them, I guess.
Like the solar flare on the logo!Home, Away and Clash for Gold Coast. If they want to stick with the general design and idea of a monogram then fine but its needs a fix!
It sucks that our brand/jumper design was forced to change after almost 100 years. The fact that both GWS and Gold Coast fell into the same trap that Fremantle and Port Adelaide did with such terrible branding and designs is a joke.
Eh, fair enough. Can't please em all.Good effort but it's a no from me
I hadn't meant for it to be a standalone logo, though I might modify it so it could be one.not a big fan of the jumpers but the logo looks great
Yeah, I had something akin to that in mind...a cleaner version of the "murder of crows" idea they botched in that clash they had a few years ago.the clash jumpers flying crow reminds me of this:
I know one thing...if the design was good, GWS fans would be open to orange/sky blue. For one thing, you have the advantage of not dealing with Tennessee Vols fans (long story with a lot of vitriol and possibly a death threat or two)Does anyone else think GWS should use orange and sky blue as their primary colours? I think they have stayed away from sky blue (except on their training jumper) as to not alienate their Canberra fan base (as ACT is not NSW obviously) I just think for the following reasons:
- Orange & sky blue go so well together as evidenced by Indian national cricket team, NY Knicks in NBA, Denver Broncos in the NFL (yes, I know navy & blue) plus others I'm sure.
- The majority of AFL teams have dark colour bases so this creates a point of difference unlike charcoal.
- Current colours are so similar to West Tigers. Could prevent Parramatta Eels/Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs/Penrith Panthers NRL fans from supporting GWS as secondary team like many AFL fans follow Melbourne Storm.
- Any New South Welshman not supporting the Swans may support GWS if they at least included the state colour. Like Melbourne Storm/Rebels/Victory/United all include Navy.
- Charcoal is in my opinion a rather insipid colour. Especially on a rainy day.
Unfortunately the AFL rule that we have to have a white based clash guernsey. That rule doesn't seem to apply to every team though.I recon most teams should just have two colours not three like Adelaide and Brisbane. Teams like Adelaide and west coast shouldn't have a White gurnsey as they look terrible, they should both have yellow as Adelaide do this year (not sure if it's clash or away). Brisbane should play in a bears style gurnsey as a clash gurnsey. Sydney needs to remove the stupid harbour bridge it looks horrible I use to think it was a swan.
Small detail, but I really love the "WFAO" on the back of the guernsey. Nice touch!did codes shag your missus or something?

Let's be honest, Bush League Kits aren't gonna change their collar or fix their colours. Only minor changes to the home get up, with the biggest being the navy collar and cuffs and the new number font.

New design. Red base, a funky blue sash/slash thing, yellow trim and shorts.
Their inability to produce a guernsey with yellow that doesn't look like it's been run through the wash a million and one times is astounding.BLK = Bush League Kits = their kits are not fit for a national professional competition.
nice concept (looks good), but it's uncomfortably close to the SA State jumper for mine.Gold Coast Suns concept...
I have tried to create a more traditional looking set for the suns, keeping the design relatively simple and employed the use of all three of the clubs colours, as mentioned in the song. It seems that the club wants to keep it's logo on the jumper, so I made it smaller and moved it to the chest, over the heart. The clash is a simple white-based recolor of the home.View attachment 263201
Was going to say that. That's a Fitzroy jumper champ
Unfortunately I have to agree, the amount of the colours and the placement do look a lot like Fitzroy... Didn't take much notice at the time but see where you're coming fromThat's a Fitzroy jumper champ
Port and Freo both have better designs now than they did at first, but they were both pretty interesting. They thought outside the square and I don't think they're embarrassing at all – the cop they've got is pretty bizarre. Of all the potential things both sides could have had in the 90s, they both did well. Port Adelaide still have the same logo and it actually looks better than most 'modern' designs churned out in the 2000s (Cats, Kangas, Hawks). The original Fremantle one was something you could see from a while away and ID, and I think the curved wordmark was cool – especially the chunkier, original 'Dockers' ones. The fact that both GWS and Gold Coast fell into the same trap that Fremantle and Port Adelaide did with such terrible branding and designs is a joke.

Suns and Giants have shit jumpers. The Suns have an embarrassing logo and bog average colours, while the Giants logo is smart and bold, it still sits poorly on a boring jumper.
In fact, I'd say their issues are due to them wanting to be too 'footy' and classic. Chevrons were in with Fremantle and Port's rejig, so now almost all variations of it have been taken. The designers had a poor, in fact almost no, imagination. They could have and should have thought outside the square. You just have to look at Gold Coast's clash tops to see how self-consciously 'modern, but different' they want to be.
FWIW I like the yellow Suns strip simply because yellow is so rare but strong in footy.
I think the red and yellow next to one another look really good on a white clash well. In fact, Gold Coast's Indigenous Round jumper looks good to me because of the white 'collar' look. They need to ditch the sky and yellow, totally pointless having completely different colours on a clash. They don't even have the token sky blue strip on the socks anymore!
