Discussion Jumpers That Never Were

This will never happen in the modern day though, where the public and consumers' views on a particular product are primarily formed by the branding around it.

The organic formation of monikers/nicknames that occurred with the old VFL clubs wouldn't happen in today's age; people will be told what and what not to call something, and they'll follow accordingly (and this isn't even a cynical view on my part, it's just how it is).

They absolutely had to come up with a nickname, otherwise they'd still just be known as GCFC. Mind you, in a league where every team has some sort of moniker or nickname, just for differentiation purposes, that may not have necessarily been a bad thing. But as far as the supporter base eventually coming up with a nickname organically? Never would have happened. I mean the only reason the expansion team in Western Sydney ended up being known as GWS is because that name had been reinforced into people's minds from the moment the 'bid' (I use that term loosely, but we'll go with it for the sake of my point) was introduced back in 2009 as 'Team GWS'.

Yeah man. "Is the game at Etihad?" shits me

It was only like that because it was heatpressed over the horizontal Lifebroker logo

There'd be no way that they would highlight the "Australia" over the "Virgin"

But they do that in their promotional logos?

Not really. That's just the horizontal lock-up. The actual Virgin part in your picture is more than twice the height of the Australia, on that guernsey pic it's all the same height and the Virgin just gets lost

Fear not, my habit of hoarding these things comes shining through again :)

(history does not relate if the missing ochre on the first one was deliberate)

Would you happen to still have these, Mr E? I actually don't recall seeing any other designs apart from the one that exists above

That yellow Camry logo works so well.

In fact, the Crows ditching it in favour of the general Toyota sucks. It's not like they've changed entirely but it's a cool little streak of continuity and iconography.

Sorry for the small image but does anyone know what this North jumper is meant to be?

I'd say that's the 2015 Indig jumper with a Blue stripe Photoshopped over the middle stripe.
Maybe they're saying you win a jumper, which one you actually get will be determined by what we have left.

It's actually tyre tracks, because we're sponsored by Mazda. It's not an official jumper but they use it in emails, messages etc.

Basically promoting Mazda even more.

I know this was worn but what about the green and white one. Was it for a commemoration in tribute to Jim Stynes?

Compare where the Melbourne and AFL logos are on both. I don't think that was ever going to be used in an official AFL game.

Picked this up at the BLK outlet store today. Obviously a sample design, and looks like more confirmation that names were on the cards for 2015.

To all the haters who had a whinge at my assumption of names and low numbers...
