My take on Kirby from an outsider point of view of someone who has attended training sessions, is that he turned up to his first training session after being drafted, a little overweight. He lost the weight in the lead up to Christmas, then put the weight back on when he returned after Christmas. None of this is a hanging offence if you ask me. It's his first preseason at a young age in an elitest competition in which a lot of young players find it difficult to cope. He's done nothing yet to judge him on apart apart from two short quarters against the Geelong VFL side in a practice match.The take out from all of this, and the VFL practice game yesterday, is that KK is back on track and will be seen kicking goals at Lulie Street in 2017.

Not because that's his aim, to classy for that, but because he has talent, he worked harder than given credit for and he earned it.

Good to see him in the crowd behind Treloar on the AFLW highlights
The take out from all of this, and the VFL practice game yesterday, is that KK is back on track and will be seen kicking goals at Lulie Street in 2017.
I'm hoping we also see him kicking a few at the MCG and at Docklands!! Most of us do want to see him succeed!

Yup...clearly he's a solid kid but I'm not seeing the calamitous weight issues some people keep referring too...

Like the belting Buckley copped on here and perhaps still does (I steer clear of that thread) sadly and unfairly I think it's became fashionable to give this kid a clip. He's not the first draftee and he won't be the last to be recruited with areas he can develop, some make it some don't, but his first preseason isn't the time to judge and write him off. Everybody should be given a chance and I look forward to the season beginning, so we can start talking about his footy.

Nice crystal ball do mind if I borrow.
They were referring to just after Christmas break where there are picks of him overweight, he clearly has put in the yards and been stricter with his diet and the benefits are showing. Well done to him hopefully he keeps it up as he is a real talent.

Don't think he's a graceful as Krakouer. Should be a fair bit more powerful though. Don't know how he's pace stacks up to Leon's or his kicking stacks up to either yet as the only thing I've seen of him is that he knows where the goals are. I guess that's something all three had in common.

It would, but other than cultural heritage, he doesn't seem particularly similar to either of them. He's a powerful bull, Krakouer in particular was the least powerful player playing the game.

Only played a quarter didn't he?
Would say it's hard to glean anything out of that pissy amount of time?
Not sure the point of even playing a sole quarter then off, you would think they could at least play "a half" without over doing it? ditto the other 1st gamers who only did a quarter? sports drs gone mad.
2 goals in the first half vs Bulldogs in a VFL praccy! Can't wait for him to prove the doubters wrong.
