Kayo has confirmed streaming coverage for the 2019 Virgin Australia Supercars Championship.

Foxtel’s self-described ‘Netflix of sports’ will take every session of the Fox Sports telecast live and on-demand, as well as additional viewing options as part of the RaceView feature.

RaceView features three different camera modes including the incar Co-Pilot View, the helicopter camera (selected races only), and Race Centre, which shows driver statistics.

The three additional modes, available for qualifying and races, are able to be viewed simultaneously along with the world feed in splitscreen (maximum two screens for smartphone viewers).

Happy enough with it so far, all sport, just sport at a cheap price which is what I've wanted from foxtel ever since netflix and co started up. I've stopped Foxtel Go to give it a trial and it seems to be streaming fine using the Telstra TV and thats after going from NBN (FTTH) back to ADSL2.

Not having on demand with the Foxtel Go (or at least limited) meant always missing things like the footy shows so it will be great to be able watch what I want when I want and until the footy season starts Im enjoying a few of the docos and learning about Sumo :thumbsu:.

ha ha. I going to check out on Chess Boxing someday soon too.
I have enjoyed some docos on ESPN like NFXL story and such things of sports I never follow. Buster Douglas 42 to 1 was great too. Saw a movie on Fox sorts channel last week. I AM ALI. Really well made.

Is Android TV a special box like Apple Tv?

I tried to instal the App straight to my Smart Samsung TV but it wont let me.

No, it's in inbuilt platform for some pretty specific smart TVs I believe. An article I found says "Android TV (found on 2019 Sony 4K and OLED TVs) ".

We are using chromecast ultra unfortunately Ethernet to modem is unavailable for us
Definitely get a faster router if it's 802.11n. ac is needed for both speed and bandwith if you're starting to accumulate devices on the wifi, all those laptops, tablets, phones, digital assitants and chromecast items add up.

Used to use my old 802.11n when I got my first chromecast 3 years ago and it was rubbish, spent $200 odd on a decent router and it fixed everything.

Something like this

Ohhhh android tv is required
Was hoping I could download it to my smart tv. Damn
I'll just have to carry on through the PC connected to tele.

Is there such thing as an android DVR? I couldn't seem to find anything my search just kept showing TVs.
I'd buy that if it's a thing but upgrading tv for a kayo app will get me in trouble.

My assumption was always that when they talk Android TV they were talking about the Android TV boxes. If I am right (and I am not saying that I am) then just buy a cheap box off Ebay for around $40 to plug into your TV. I've used an Android TV box for some time to stream other stuff such as the Freeview TV apps with good success and downloaded the Kayo Sports app yesterday without drama. I haven't started my 14 day free trial yet, (I will when there is likely to be high demand on their servers as I want to see how it performs then so I can then decide whether to cancel my foxtel subscription). So I can't comment as to how well, or otherwise, it works.

Does anyone have a Telstra tv box and watch the footy through the AFL app on there? If so, what’s it like?
Was gonna download Kayo, but no point if the quality through the AFL app is good enough on my Telstra tv.

I am not getting why your smart tv needs anything else. Our LED tv kicked bucket recent months and replaced with nothing special smart tv.
Surely a laptop and smart tv can communicate together easy enough without need for wires. At first I did not know I could put Kayo straight to our tv without HDMI cables but soon found out press Project option on laptop, turn on Anyview casting on smart tv and then on wireless options clicked, the laptop smart tv pops up as option when it searches for things to project to. Click on it and within 4 or so seconds the tv eventually casting the screen of laptop on smart tv. Click on full screen view of PC and the full tv screen has it all like any tv channel I watch normally.

Surely every smart tv should be able to do this in this day and age.

Depends on which version of telstra tv you have.

TTV1 can only do 720p (I have this, very watchable).
TTV2 is 1080p.

Can't recall if either device is capable of multiview.

edit: misread your post. Thoght you were asking about kayo and not afl app

Thanks. But I'm not so concerned about cables. I just want to watch kayo with a remote instead of laptop/PC mouse. Netflix and YouTube are on the TV already, so if I can get kayo on there too I won't have to use the PC at all.

Have you considered Vodafone TV or Apple TV?

Even though I've got a CC Ultra I will probably pick up a MiBox or Skystream at some point during the season as the Android TV app looks the goods

It's both. It's the operating system on some smart TVs (mainly Sony ones it seems) as well as on dedicated media players like the NVIDIA shield or Xiaomi Mi-box(I think that's what it's called). A lot of cheap media players run android tv so I assume they'll all have the kayo app available.

For the moment if you are using a laptop hooked up to the TV via HDMI and want to control it, earlier on in this thread someone pointed me in the direction of a phone app which you can use as a mouse to control your computer/laptop.

There's a few different apps out there, I'm using Remote Mouse on an Android phone. Just have to download the app on your phone, the app on your laptop and then make sure they are connected to the same wifi network. Works awesome and saves getting up every time you want to pause it or whatever.

Yeah that seems like the way to go. Just weighing up if I get something branded or just a dodgy generic android box. Will do some homework over the weekend.

That sounds like a good option until I sort an android box. Might have to have a look and download something tonight. Cheers.

I'm connected to PC via HDMI so getting a bit over having to find the mouse whenever I want to pause or rewind. The graphics card on my laptop sucks and it's unwatchable. Looks like there is a permanent strobe light at the ground.

Ok, I tried watching the cricket last night on Foxtel Now on my dumb Sony TV via my laptop with a HDMI cable.

The viewing part worked just fine. I was able to get a good quality HD stream to my TV. However, my next problem was that everything seemed almost sped up watching it. I’ve watched the cricket on Channel 70 (which is HD) without this issue, so I’m not sure what is different when streaming it.

Googling seemed to indicate it was a setting on the TV that did this to smooth the picture. I tried turning off MotionFlow (which is the setting that smooths the picture) on my Sony TV and, alternatively, setting MotionFlow to high. However, neither change seemed to have much impact.

Any idea how to deal with the issue, or is it just because my TV is 9 years old and can’t deal with the higher definition stream?

I was flicking between the cricket, Netflix and Optus Sport overnight, all on my Apple TV / Samsung TV. No problems on my end.

This sounds like the issue I have through the laptop. Seems sped up / strobe light effect almost.
But only when I connect to TV with HDMI. The display on the laptop screen itself is fine.
It's similar with Netflix through the laptop as well. Looks sped up and audio/video can go out of sync too.
So I assumed it was something to do with the laptop graphics card or something (I don't know a whole lot about it)
But when I run through the PC with HDMI (I know the PC has a good graphics card cos my IT savvy mate told me it was) I have no issues at all. Picture is smooth and doesn't give me a headache.

I didn't try it. But quote below was suggested and may help with playback if the issue is HDMI related?

Cheers for the suggestion, but my TV is a "dumb" TV. It's 9 years old and does not have internet capability, so I'm not sure it will work.

Watching it on my laptop it seemed to be doing the same thing. Not a strobe light effect, but more like as though I was watching it at 1.2x regular speed.

I might have to try watching it tonight on my laptop and compare it to watching it on my desktop to see if I can notice a difference.

Vodafone tv is not supported apparently
