I've just found out that Murchison are playing a practice game against Shepp East at Shepp East (Our Ground will likely be hosting a KDCA Final that weekend) on the Labour Day Weekend (Saturday), for all teams including Netball.

I haven't heard about any other games for Murch as yet but we do have the 25th free Hank (and the 18th-19th and the 26th-27th), you could do a lot worse than having to play Murch on that date:), so you could drop us a line if you're still keen.

Lamaro knocked back for a 3rd time, whats the story?
Stanhope have hit a full senior side on the departure list, 18 players that played atleast 1 senior game last year are gone.
Still had high 30's on the track last night though which is a good sign.

Not sure of the real reason Hank, but apparently he has been getting death threats from some people involved in the Mernda Footy Club about leaving them in the lurch and taking players with him.
They need to watch their back as Haydn's partner is a detective and is on the case.

absolutely gutless & pathetic 2 dish out death threats over any sort of football situation!!! Some people need 2 get a life!!!! Gutless, gutless oh & did i mention it was gutless!!!!

Death threats?? Sounds intense.. Not sure it's the most productive way of convincing him to stay.. 'Hey, we're a good family club, but if you leave us, we'll kill ya..!'

Last time I heard of death threats happening was to the Ryan brothers (Tat) the night before the '96 GV GF, when they were red hot favourites but got beaten by a Rusty McDonnell lead Ky..

Anyway, Rushy play Mathoura and Elmore in their praccy matches, both at home. Apparently Elmore have some gun recruits from the Bendigo League, including John Hardinge, so it will be interesting to see how we go against them.

Well bugger me it can't be too hard if this is true (and lets hope not). Im an avid City Homicide viewer and was loyal to the folk of Mt. Thomas too and both those teams have/had great success with obtaining phone records ;)

In all seriousness this is insane, at the end of the day it's a game of footy for christ sake - how can this happen?

Well I hope that whomever's doing this (and I've heard that the President has copped some of this as well) gets what's coming to them (legally of course) because this sort of crap is not on, and as a Mernda supporter, I hope that these idiots get cut of the club like a cancerous growth before they infect the body (Mernda FC) even further, because this sort of stuff just spirals out of control, and a bad name is a hard thing to shake.

My dad would have been disgusted with this crap (he was a long time president at Mernda footy & cricket), because although the club and the sport meant a lot to him, at least he had some perspective about how important the game is in comparison to other things in life.

Anyway, back to the KDFL (that Lamaro stuff should be sorted out hopefully soon), and how are the numbers going at training ?, because Murch's has been averaging around 30 which is pretty good, but how does that compare with other clubs ?, and what are the % of players that are training (1sts, 2nds & 3rds) ?.

And also, how are the numbers for 3rds going in the KDFL ?.

Just thought I would pose some questions about something else because this Lamaro stuff is depressing.

Thought it was benny gugliotti from ky who got the threats?

Dont use the Lords name in vain please!

We've been getting around 30 on the track most nights aswell. Few new faces and some returning faces too. Majority of players are senior players.

As for our thirds, they commenced training last week and have been having a run with us. Numbers look good for them this season with plenty of young locals coming through our junior ranks.

We've been getting about 25 (15 seniors/fringe line seniors training in VT + 10 training down in Melb) and last week our 3rds started as well and they trained seperately and had about 15.

On a sadder note, our mate and long time poster Greg Stokes sadly passed away today.

He will be missed by all, not just for his ongoing and tireless work with the many sporting clubs he was involved in but for being a genuine great bloke.
I'm sure most of us will have come across Greg at one stage in the football season and am sure he would have left a lasting impression on them.

Thoughts and prayers are with the Stokes family at this time.

R.I.P fortyone will miss ya buddy xo

Thanks for passing that onto us here Earl, :(, although I had more to do with Greg in regards to cricket (playing against him & with meetings held by the KDCA), he always came across as a fair & decent man, and someone that I and a lot of people had a lot of time for.

My deepest sympathies to his family, especially his kids:(.

That's good, because you guys really struggled to get numbers last year, so to get 15 this early is a good sign for your club.

And Stanhope should still have a few players from last year, so you guys should have a pretty good team.

Oops thanks for the heads up Bob, I'll go book in for the rest of the term with her now, she'll sort me out. Otherwise it'll be off to the lower grades and keeping away from the multi-syllabic words and just focusing on the hoo, wot, wear, wen and Y....
I'd back all 3 lions in for a top 5 finish

Any update on Lamaro Bodzy..?

Word is (Daniel) Sage is no chance, still got any more recruits in the pipeline and which VT players are primed for a big season?

Yeah think Daniel Sage has been out of the question for ages Tavis. I think we're still working on a few, a ruck in particular. Hayden will be fine I'm sure and no doubt will be playing round 2 in our first match against Merrigum. I see a few of your new boys have decided to come to the KD from the same neck of the woods as our new blokes.

Did hear that gig have found a job for a very handy player from darwin and will start training soon. Along with him they have signed themselves 2 fly in weekly players from darwin. Herd anything about this boys ?

When will they learn? Have been recruiting from up there for a while havn't they? Have got a couple of handy players but no real success. The cost of flying players down each week when put against the on field success they have had doesn't add up for mine.

Yeah good Macca, we had 28 turn up ready to play in a 14 a side 4x15min match at 10am Sunday. That included 3 thirds boys and their coach. There were about 6 senior blokes with little niggles that decided to sit it out and run water and umpire.
Had our season launch from midday til 4pm with Stan Alves as a guest speaker and we auctioned off a few things and enjoyed a 2 course meal. Was a great start to the year ahead.
Got our first practice match this Sunday at 1pm in Benalla against Benalla All Blacks
