Straight from the chalkboard at the Herald Sun offices, Player expenditures for Violet Town and Nagambie in 2012.
Violet Town $140,000
Nagambie $85,000
Gidday Guys l'm back, and what a big week it has been in footy,.Heraldsun, you need to get your facts right,we won't get change out 200k this year as our support staff, committee and medico's also have to be paid.:p And Tav, how do you get the mail so early on where players are coming and going, sometimes the blokes involved do know before you...:D

Williams was a handy player at Heidelberg but not a star by any stretch of the imagination. Not trying to have a dig at the bloke but he has a tendency to go missing during big games (especially finals) and will probably struggle at this level. You VT people can however find comfort in the knowledge that he will be put his hard earned back over the bar after the game. In terms of personality he is a relatively boring individual with little or no sense of humour.

And he absolutely hates to train. Also will be the last guy ready on game day.

Is that important?

I thought the 140k wasn't far off the mark Jack - 70k this year and 70k next year

But as Tav says who gives a rats what teams spend as long as the clubs survive, have success and provide an enjoyable atmosphere.

And it is good to get back onto bigfooty and Roar. Passion is certainly a part of football and something we can get a bit precious about sometimes.

Cheers:thumbsu:

Shocking trainer. Nah look in all serious Jake is one of those guys who probably could have made it at AFL level had he been given the chance but instead has been dominating local footy for a few seasons now. Easily Heidelberg's best player of the last three years and regarded by many as the most damaging player in the NFL. Racked up 40+ possessions and three goals in a preliminary final last year to get Heidelberg over the line in the best individual game I have ever seen.

Some good news for the kdfl, with 98.5fm committing to broadcasting the match of the round every week this year.

With so many strong teams this year, I think it will be a coup for the competition and provide more topics to discuss, which should please Marco polo at least..

It's good that the league is getting some more exposure, I'm not sure as to the ratings for local football, but having the KDFL on more times than once on Grand Final Day (as good as it was having all 3 football games covered, plus regular updates on the Netball) could only be a good thing (for us as well as the Murray League, will they cover the Picola League as well occasionally ?, or only us and the Murray League ?).

Are all the Round 1 games going to be played a week early (on the 31st) ?, or it only Murchison's game against Violet Town (hope OneFM cover that game, I reckon it'll be a good one first up) :)

Interesting to see VT are playing Panton Hill this saturday. A Northern League Division 3 team.

The other club that has taken a lot of H'berg players this season. Think its currently 5-6 players. Including Zac Williams. Be fun to wacth the Williams Sisters on opposing teams.

You'd imagine VT with their signings to have a fairly easy day of it.

Probably not, they are playing it at Panton Hill, which is a postage stamp size of a ground, and they play the ground really well, so it's a big strange that they would play the redbacks because you would think that Violet Town would play against a side that has a much bigger ground, similar to the ground sizes you find in the KDFL (MCG SIZE ON AVERAGE).

It'll be a reasonable hit-out for them in any case, Murchison on the other hand play against Heathcote tomorrow at Murchison, which will be a really good match up for us (like Murch going to Dookie over a week ago to play under lights, they were really good BTW :)), because we've got a very good side in Round 1

They have picked up a possible 100 goal forward in Barnett, Demasi will go close to filling J. Casey in the middle, DiPetta could also play through the middle in the KD, or be a quality defender. Unsure of any others.

Girgarre have been getting very good numbers on the track, high 30's, quality will still be lacking and expect finals to be out of the question but may pull off a couple of upsets especially early when there fitness will be superior to most. Paul Parsons and Tom Roberts will add experience, Jack Baker, ex Gig, Stanhope, Merrigum, Tonny, Tat will be very handy in the middle with his hardness. Matt Anderson ex Stanhope, didnt play last year but will probably be another option through the ruck for them if committed, and Damin Cers 17yr old from Tonny will be as good as any if not injured.

On the money talk, surely VT would have been well ahead of everyone budget wise last year and other sides on much less went further, so not always a guarantee of success, but gee they are looking mighty hard to beat if they get that side out on the park.

does anyone no how Gig went friday night,we play them this week , should see how both sides are looking for the week after when the season starts, have been told another Lancy player is heading there way as well.

They beat Picola by about 10 goals, Nick Varcoe played Friday night so I assume that is who you are alluding to.

No I was not told who it was, interesting but thought he was going to Moama . Should be a good game then I hope :thumbsu:
Ive heard Varcoe was playing at Gig, Moama, Lancy and Picola. So he has settled at Gig I assume. Hope he can perform, the last time I seem him play he would struggle to hit the Gig change rooms from 2 meters away, with a kick that is. Might be ok with the handball. :D

Bloody good handball then to make the 1st prem side at Lancy, good luck to who ever he plays with im sure he will be a handy pickup for them.

This bloke sounds like the "biggest payer will get the player" Dog Cat!!

Who knows JC, easy to presume that line, also could just as easily be the long line of his family members that have represented Girgarre that was the reason for the decision.

You hit the nail on the head hank, also dont forget he has lived in Girgarre all of his life.

.

Is the dude who nearly qualified for his own thread 2-3 preseason's back??? I remember going to a night comp final where Gig rolled Stanhope and the name Baker was a big part of the promotion leading up to it. Still remember standing near the Gigarre box when things were tight and his dad punched the whiteboard and lost all the magnets for the coach ..... was pretty funny to witness during a practice match :D

Fair enough Hank. My presumption goes back to a bloke we were chasing this time two years ago. Played a practice match for us on the Friday night. Played for Yea in a practice game on the Sunday. Trained with Avenel the next Thursday before his home Club finally came up with the bikkies .. Doona will know who I am talking about. Explains my disdain when I see mercenaries in District footy. Cheers

Couple of clubs have lost a quality player to the GV after reports on here that seemed to suggest both were playing in the KDL.
Danny Haysom is off to the Shepp Swans and Jungle Martin will have Mooroopna as his feeder club when he doesnt get a game with Bendigo in the VFL

I jumped the gun a fraction regarding Danny in an earlier post, we were quite confident he was on board until about a fortnight ago. He wants to play at a higher level & with his brother. It goes without saying he's obviously a big loss for us especially this close to the season.

What about the Coaching set up Scribe, are you going to have to step up, word is Robbie has to transfer to Melb for work, cancelling him out of taking training during the week at least?

Is this because his VFL side would rather he play GV standard or was it his choice to better himself?
