Re: Kyabram District FL

Can anyone tell me how Murchison is going for numbers, I read today they have entered the Gig night series, but looking at all the departing players in the league transfers, there wouldnt be many left to play.

Not that great I'm afraid, the numbers at training aren't great, but we have had a few new faces at training and a few blokes returning to the club, after a few years out of football, and we should have more than enough numbers for the 3rds, which is vital.

We play Girgarre Wednesday night (and we play Stanhope's seconds the Friday after), and whether we get enough players to get a team for the first game, is the big question, I hope so, that all I can say.;) .

As far as having a 16 a side Reserves competition goes, I'm all for it, not only for our sakes but for a few other clubs as well (Yea, Violet Town, Nagambie, etc), really it should be stated that if one (or both) sides can only get say less than 19 players, it should be decided by the respective club captains that a 16 a side match be played.

If both sides have more than 20 players available, then the normal 18 a side match should prevail.

I think that the GVFL does this for the likes of Kyabram & Euroa when their twos were short of numbers and it seemed to have worked well, but I doubt that this proposal will have the numbers, because the last time this was brought up (three years ago), it was knocked on the head.

Re: Kyabram District FL

long time reader, first time poster.

after looking at Violet town... i think they a massively over rated.

there seems to be alot of hype around them doing well but i have my suspicisons... round 1 will indeed paint the picture for their season.. but i can see another lack luster season down by the honeysuckle for the 'towners'

can anyone from Violet Town explain to me why you will go any good this year? because i am yet to read any reason on here why i should change my mind
Last time l played footy finals we played in September so would judge sides then on who was in the action at that time of the year.As far as painting a picture after round one, you only have to look at Geelong last year in the afl, premiership favourites after round 3 and did not make the final, puts your theory to rest l would think. Not a smart first post at all BLINK

Only Stanhope and Ardmona had the wood over us last year blink_11 and we had a poor pre-season and injuries for the last five rounds cost us dearly and we narrowly missed the five....
This year we have had a better pre-season and have strengthened our list on the field and improved off the field....;)
We have won our first two practice matches comfortably aswell, however having said that they weren't great competition and i don't think we played that well and none of it means anything until the real season starts and we play the likes of Rushy, Tally, Stanhope, Ardy and lanky, etc. who will be twice as good....
Can't wait for round 1!

Re: Kyabram District FL

For those interested - Rushy played Lancaster and Stanhope played Picola United under lights at Gig yesterday. Ground was immaculate, but slippery, credit to Gig though..

Rushy got up over Lancaster by 20-30 points in a good team effort. Better players for Lancy were Morgan, Jones and Thomas, and a new recruit (number 4 Cosby - little bloke with a black goatee)..

In an ominous display, Stanhope ran the legs off the highly fancied Picola to run out winners by 8 goals.. Got give the stanhope blokes credit, lots of locals, very even side, good game plan.. will take a lot of beating again this year.

What about Rushys Best, both perry in the guts were good, scotty hanson dominated all over the ground and Rushys CHF was good, Clarke?

No. 4 for Lanky was Chris Davidson, been in Ky for a while playin cricket for Fire Brigade and decided to have a kick out Lanky, last night was his first run, I think he should go OK. Came from east melb way, Vermont? if any ones got any footy credentials??

you have got a few response already for your first post, good start to the forum. maybe you should of scanned back over the pages and notice vt people taking a step back and talking down the town a bit, saying that there is alot of work to be done over the year to see any chance of a premership. they have a done that work over the pre-season and will be up there at the top but be sure that the team knows in itself how much more needs to be done. remembering that they played of in the big one not that long ago and there is still a good core group of players that were involved in that wich are now older, bigger and wiser in their football.

Yeah, not a bad hit out. Both teams missing a few players so I couldn't take alot out of it though other than it was a good run under the belt and playing in wet conditions got a bit of getting used to.
Davo hasn't even trained with us yet, to my knowledge, only met him last night, but with a bit of fitness should be handy in a midfeild rotation.
Ryan Demassi up from the thirds last year showed he has the ability to play seniors.
Little Ash Jones was pretty good all game, Thomo was his usual calm self in the back half and Boppin Barty did a fair job on your man mountain at FF.(he brushed me aside like a piece of tissue paper)
Not sure how you fitted me into the better players Tav, a full forward who kicked 1 goal? I was even dubbed Quinten Lynch by my own teammates..., but I felt a bit fitter than I thought I would. Mitch has rights on that possie for a reason.
Next time we meet we might actually man you up. ;)
I think Homer summed up your best(CHF was Johns/Jones wasn't it?), plus Van der Donk.

We play Nagambie next wednesday I think, and should welcome at least 7 blokes into the team.

Got a couple of ties out at mounts greatest bunch of blokes at a club i've seen. Grinton is highly resepected there and a very handy player, so if stanhope secure him that will be a great pick up to an already very strong unit

Progressing well, had 45 train last wednesday, had a 18 a side scratch match Monday with left overs running the boundary/water so numbers are great. Still need 1-2 experienced heads and we'll be very cmpetitive Id hope. First hit out Sunday then Sunbury Kangas (April 5 at Seymour) and Romsey at home on the 14th.

Re: Kyabram District FL

Just wondering how Mitchman/Crazyhouse - Daniel Mitchell will go at Avenel this year. Yes all are the same person.

Wasn't regarded or even known by other teams in the WRFL so probably shouldn't cause too much concern I wouldn't think.

Re: Kyabram District FL

how did the games go last night in the gig comp, who won best players and that sort of thing??????????

I only watched the mainland lads play the lakers, the lakers took the points in a tight game. I don't know any of the lakers boys, but I though No.3 played a very good game. Paul Parsons played an excellent first half of footy but went out of it a bit as the game went on. Matt Stokes had a very good second half of footy and was full of run. In the end the mainland boys struggled across half forward with no many blokes presenting. Not too sure of the end score line but I think the lakers won by about 10 points.
