Apparently not true. Spoke with a few blokes who had been talking to him last night at training. Still an outside chance of returning to Rushy - more than likely at Tonny (Hank ?) or Rochy.
my sources tell me that snelson is still training and playing at girgarre. unless he is only training there for the time being.

Yer heard he'd actually made a couple of calls to prospective players as Assistant Coach for the Roos so you would suspect he is still on board.
Hasn't been much talk about Tally are they likely to have much of a turn over? Obviously Sidebottom & Trigger have gone.

Re: Kyabram District FL

Can anyone tell me something bout a fella by the name of jenkins. He apparently has played at Lancaster for the past few seasons. He has just bought the pub in our local town and may be interested play for us at crib point.

Also notice that you guys also have speculation about Damien Yze. He was chased pretty heavily by rosebud, who reportedly offered him 25K but has just recently signed with east burwood I think.

forgive me if i suspect you are in fact the man himself, he loves a good prank.

honestly though, bunka is a straight ahead footballer, crash and bash, never takes a backward step, and will never give anything less than 100%. finished third in the b&f last year.

on the 8 or 9 players that are supposedly coming with the new coach, i heard that that is what 'he' has said he could bring. but i don't know where they would be coming from.

Trained on Friday night and some bloke by the name of Arnie was there is a big unit. Said he's been an assistant at a VFL club over the past couple of years and has played when he could for Finley and Rumba. A few of the Rumba boys reckon he was B.O.G in the drawn Grandfinal a few years ago can play a bit.

If it's Arnel Davis you're talking about, can certainly play a bit.

Big boost for Stanhope's chances this year with Brenton Gray a certainty to line up again. He was announced as Captain for 2006 at the Lions first function yesterday

Good on Hoota for deciding to stay - will definitely boost Stanhope's chances of going one step further in 06. All the ladders that everyone posted on where they think teams will finish in the KDL next year looked pretty much spot on - Stanhope and Lancy definite stand outs at this stage, with anyone of us, Ardy and Yea the likely real threats, you would think...the 3 of us would probably need another 2-3 quality recruits to push Stanhope or the wombats - any news out of Ardmona or Yea on this front?

Yeah big pat on the back for hoota, next time you see him just give him a big pat on the back he loves that sort of thing, he really thrives on complements.

But on a serious note I thinke he'll make an excellent captian he has all the right qualities for the job, the stanhope boys will be very happy he's has decided to stay onboard and I'm sure they'll have a good season.

Yer good stuff for Stanhope with Gray staying on board and also with Matt Trist staying word was Merrigum were pushing up to get him as he has romantic ties out that way.

i can't see the wombats being ahead of stanhope and rushworth at this stage.
picking up yourself, the parkers and rumours of a big chf type from s.a coming your way also, i can't see how rushworth have slipped.

Re: Kyabram District FL

Any idea how Undera are looking this year. From what ive heard it sounds like they have picked up some pretty handy recruits.

Re: Kyabram District FL

Perry posted on another thread a comment about Gig and not investing money wisely, which i agree on but he stated that Canavan was 40 od.

Is he.? I did not think he was that old, can anyone help me out on this.

Lions keen to make up for mistakes

Stanhope coach Mark Patten believes the Lions have the ability to right last year's wrongs during the forthcoming season.
After barnstorming their way through the home and away season, the Lions fell at the final hurdle last year when they lost an agonising grand final to Tallygaroopna by just a solitary point.

Nearly five months on, however, Patten and the rest of the Lions are looking to the future and not to the past.

"I'd be disappointed if we weren't around the mark again," Patten said yesterday.

"We've retained nearly our entire list and we're still talking to three or four guys.

"We've really focused on our locals (and past players) and I'm fairly confident we'll snare a couple."

At the top of the Lions' wish-list is 2004 best and fairest winner Todd Harrison.

The Kyabram District Football League representative, who spent last season playing with Sunshine, is keen to return to the Lions and is expected to make a decision in the coming weeks.

Brenton Gray, who returned to the club last season after eight years with Rochester, has accepted the captaincy.

"It's fantastic news for the club to have Brenton Gray as skipper," Patten said.

"He brings so much to our side and it's great to have him doing the job."

While the Lions appear to be shaping up for another successful season, Patten confirmed that premiership skipper Lee Rowlands (Adelaide), assistant coach Daryl Harrison (Tongala) and hard-running utility Robbie Haw (Melbourne) would all be missing this season.

"It's going to be an interesting year," Patten said.

"We've got two new clubs (Violet Town and Yea) in the comp and they should be right up there.

"But I'm confident we'll be around the mark."

The Lions are currently training on Monday and Wednesday nights from 6 pm.

Re: Kyabram District FL

Wheelbarrow - Canavan is either 38 or 39.

Subtle Hustle - although it's unlike blokes from 2 competing clubs to suggest that their side will be worse in the coming season, I have figured that since Rushy have lost Gamble (B&F CHB), Jake Lloyd (possibly best utility in the comp), Snelson (runner up league medallist last year), Canavan (kicked 70-80 last year), probably Bevan (gun young player likely to go to Sth Bendigo), and possibly D. Ohlsen to Tonny, and Lanky have picked up Carver, Mitchell, Seirakowski, Andison and Elborough, that Lancy would more than likely have a better side than us in 06. Also, would love a name to go with the supposed CHF from SA that we're talking to - my old man's pres and hasn't heard anything him..

Also, although most blokes may already know, Gig have signed that ruckman from Kerang that a few clubs were chasing, Snels is definitely staying (at Gig), Hanks old mate Daniel Vance is going there as well PLUS, it looks very likely that ex-Carlton backman Murray Vance will be joining the roos mid-season! $ talks...

Any more rumours about the P-Train (Shaun Pearce)? Following on from Doona's comments a week or 2 ago, Avenel are still confident that they're in the running for his services..
