Re: Kyabram District FL

Just had a look at the GVFL thread and noticed that a few people are talken about Best leaving Tally, correct me if im wrong but has he only been out there for the 1 year, and from all reports had a fairly good year and only just missed out on a grand final spot so why would he be leaving after such a short stint! Has he had a falling out with the club or does he not rate the league at all! can anyone from tally inform us???

Re: Kyabram District FL

You are a dreamer even if you had those players you would need another 18 players cause you got nothing at the moment.

Re: Kyabram District FL

Who will be the big improvers in the KDL in 2008?
Lancaster will be in the 5
Stanhope should stay up
Ardmona may slip
Tally should be thereabouts
Undera will need to keep building
Girgarre look to have annoyed the locals
Nagambie took a big step this year, another big step to come
Merrigum will continue to struggle
Murchison may win a couple more
Avenel 5-8th
Violet Town will stick at it after a disappointing ending
Rushworth finished well, new coach

i think he is dreaming, chrisy johnson is at brisbane as an assistant and won't be playing down here.

Re: Kyabram District FL

Freddy Cameron is possibly one of the freakiest players i have ever seen. he played out at Longwood in 2006. Can play footy anywhere against anyone with his eyes shut! Im a huge fan!!!!:thumbsu:

That's funny, i could swear i seen him playing for Euroa 2'nds in their losing GF against Seymour .

Re: Kyabram District FL

Anyone prepared to give me odds on Lancy for the flag, willing to lay a G on them even this early.

Heard that a few from Stanhope aren't happy about me writing this, actually thought they might be happy to have the pressure taken away from them for a while. Not sure what they have a problem with, as obviously no one has come to me and brought their issues up (which is why I'll have to respond to it on bigfooty). Must have taken a couple of serious pills.
I am sure most would rather put their money on a $6 or $7 dollar pop (Lancy for flag) than Stanhope at $1.50. Word is someone even said they'd put up a G, interesting to see what odds they are willing to give me;)

One player doesnt make a team, however if you had 22 Freddy Camerons playing in the KDFL if sure that team would dominate.

Re: Kyabram District FL

Only if you new the truth, why don't you ask him next time about the meeting they had at the start of the year, and ask him what he said he would do for the club. I am guessing you are not that silly, and should have worked it out by now that Jodie is still coaching Gig,and from what he has told me its looking ok at this stage.
So you and anybody else can think what you want,Jodie knows what is going on for 2008 and thats all that matters.

Does this meeting happen to have anything to do with both Jodie and Fish not being on the pay role, but get the profits from the Saturday teas after the game and the profits from the auction held during the season. And from what Cosby says that Fish didnt get pay, does this came from this form of payment. It wouldnt have anything to do with match payments, as he only played 5 or so games and wasnt seen after that.

Re: Kyabram District FL

Does anyone know when the draw will be posted online? It should be pretty soon, shouldn't it?

Talking to a few Tongala people on Sunday at McPherson cricket and if Tonny get the players that you are after, Stanhope wont be $1.50 for the flag, so the $6 for Lancaster looks alright. Clinton Sharkey at $250 a game may be a good buy. He has yet to prove himself, but if he has a donk as big as his old man you will have some happy netballers.

yes have been negotiating heavily with Clinton, at this stage we have kept his old man out of the talks but a final decision will pend heavily on his thoughts, $250 might yet not be enough to close the deal.
The make up of Tonny's side wont have any affect on how Stanhope line up, so would still expect them to be in the red. 100pt better side than anyone else in the comp so are starting a long way out in front.

interesting hank that now you are in your 3rd season as coach and hardly any stanhope teamates that you played with have crossed to tonny. i would have thought there isa a host of players ready to take that next step and play in the murray or even goulburn valley. have you consciously not chased any former teamates or have things not gone according to plan with recruiting.

I don't think he was saying Fred wasn't any good ('cause he wouldn't have seen him play much if he was), just pointing out he didn't play at Longwood in 2006 like you posted.

You're right on his ability, he's played some absolutely freaky games over the years including 6 in a losing final at Benalla in 1999 against Kyabram.

Have approached 4 or 5 each year, but I make it clear that if they are happy at Stanhope then thats fine and I'm more than happy to see them stay, but if they are looking to play major league footy I would be more than happy to have a chat. Is interesting that the only Stanhope players to come across where all last year Simon and Kyle Harrison and Rhys Martin, and I never spoke to any of these about coming across, they actually rang me.
As you say there is a host of players that would make good major league players running around at Stanhope but some do not want to leave Stanhope, some arent prepared to commit to the extra work needed to succeed at the higher level, and some may just be not prepared to take the chance and test themselves.
In saying all that, most that I talk to about having a crack at major league don't have Tongala as their first preference, why that is I don't know, but remember I was overlooked for the Stanhope job before I took the Tongala job and the main reason for that was that a few players didnt think it would be the right move to appoint me, so maybe their isnt too many their that would want to play under me.

I wouldn't exactly call the murray league a 'major league'. yes it's a bit better standard than the KDL, but not by much. the GVL is the only 'major league' round these parts.

and another thing, it's probably not that they don't like tongala, it's that they were chasing premierships at stanhope would be closer to the reason why many stayed with the premiers over the last couple of years.

is hayden best from tally going to shepp swans next year?

The mail is that Hayden Best is returning to the swans with his brother Jarrod.
By the way the Murray League is a major league, it is not an opinion or something that is up for debate. The VCFL class it as a Major league.

There is a fairly significant gap between the KDL and Murray League. No offence to Stanhope but they wouldn't get within 20 goals of the top 3 in Murray League and they themselves were 15 goals plus ahead of anyone in the KDL. Think that amounts to a fair gap in standard.

Yeh not to sure what old mate Oxxy is on about. Ive played in both leagues and imo there is a fair gap in standard from KDL to MFL, hence why the MFL is classed as a Major League.

don't worry about Oxxy. Once again he has proved to the world that he only has half a brain and that half only runs at 20% capacity. Now Alex run along and play with the other kiddies.

Very interested to hear why U think this. And what u got to back these rash statements up.

Oxxy - Name one KDL club that would make the five in the MFL. I don't think you would find one. The KDL gets the crap belted out of it by the Picola League, so i think the MFL is more than a "bit better standard".
On Stanhope players not wanting to make the next move to a higher standard - i don't think it should automatically be assumed that good players have to take the next step. It is not as if they are budding AFL players. If they are happy where they are, good on them. There is, i suggest, a hell of a lot more loyalty shown by Stanhope players to their club than any other club around here.
