theres a young fella from nagambie called anthony haysom that hasnt played yet this year due to a face injury but played 1's last week from nagambie and kicked 2 in just over a half. he will play in the interleague side and played for notre dame last year and was 1 of their best. will be a dark horse.;)

sounds alright, look forward to meeting this fella next time we come across naggaz....
he a chance for top 10 league bnf?

dont forget alex oreilly

hey just a bit curious.... everyones talking about how gud oreilly is and how he'll kick a bag everyweek, and be unstoppable.... but what about Leigh Wade, from lanky, he's been going under the radar a bit, and still every one seems to talk about oreilly....

O'reilly is really only kicking big bags against poorer teams, but as we all saw against rushy he was shut down, and struggled to get on the score board with just the one....:thumbsdown: (you can say he was at CHF, but still just the one goal, if he was as good as he's being portrayed to be, he would of kicked 6 from there!!)
he's not as great as everyone says.... yes has got a gud set of mitts on him, but thats most probably the only strong point to his game.
but to his credit, he has managed to kick straight, but i cant wait to see how he performs when the pumps really on him.... personally, i dont think he has the heart to stand up when the team will need him the most.... (2007 granny for eg).

maybe people should be switching their eyes to other forwards in the league other than this one bloke, who obviously can only get a kick against lower sides.
cheers. :thumbsu:;)

also, while we're on the goalkicking subject, who do people think will be the top 3 - 5 goal kickers this year? reason?
i would probably say the reason why everyone is talking about alex is because he is leading the goal kicking at the minute. now when has any one ever said o'reilly was unstoppable? he is a good player but not unstoppable. also he doesnt just kick goals against weaker teams i thought avenal was one of the stronger sides in the league and he kicked 8 against them. against rushy they put possibly the best player in the leauge in shaun damon on him and shaun did a pretty good job on him untill stanhope moved alex up the ground and he started to find a bit more of the ball. on another note leigh wade has played the 4 bottom teams so i would like to see how he goes against a stronger side.
it should be a good match this week with stanhope playing lancaster to see how o'reilly and wadey go.

From what i've been told they will play because of their height that the team will severely lack but they will be nothing like the taller players of last year

the taller players of last year?! who? nick mellington is the only one that comes to mind. oh and ryan moore who didnt play due to a broken foot. last years squad was actually averagly shorter then the pdfl side. i dunno if youve noticed, but m.forde has been in the best in both games undera has played. so, as someone said before, the players will be picked on their performance on saturdays, i think he'll be picked because of his performance, not his height.

Without making too many excuses both sides had players out. Speaking to a few Avenel blokes after the match they mentioned a few names that were out and the same can be said about Stanhope. Handy players for both sides and it would have been an interesting contest if both teams were at full strength. Stanhope could have blown Avenel out of the water after halftime but to the Swannies credit they bounced back and probably won the second half. Both teams look fairly good this season and should figure prominantly in the top half of the table come seasons end.

do stanhope ever not have players out?

he must have had a hell of a pre-season, cause last year he didnt seem anything overly flash. im doubting that he hasnt, but, have teams underestimated him? no foward is unstopable, (exception aaron james) but it will take the whole back six and midfeild working together to stop him. the way i see it, if a foward has shit delivery to him because the stanhope (for example) midfield is under pressure then he is likely to be forced out wide, and with good defensive pressure will push the kick wide or short or whatever. im rambling, and it probably doesnt make much sense, but the point is, it wil take more then a good defender to stop a power forward.

he wasnt flashy last year because he was playing in the midfield. i think a chance of postion has been the key to his good start to the season.

What about felsburg how has he been going, will he make it i think them two are the only talls

good to see wes shellie dominating the comp so far. havent met a nicer bloke and can really play footy. stands up when needed and is way underrated. expect big things in interleage and towards finals in pressure games.

good on ya pipesy:thumbsu::)

Although he kicked 7 in the first half on someone who could at best be described as an average footballer, when he had a new opponent who actually knew what he was doing he kicked 1 goal in the dying seconds (...last kick of the game I was told).

yes, i see where your coming from, and it makes sense, but, i wouldnt necessarily class him as a powerhouse forward....
i personally think he has gone too hard too early, and will burn out come the end of the season. (but i could be wrong)
and not having a go at ya, but the whole back 6 having to work together to stop him???? mate, come on.... MAYBE for a lower side.... a top side it'd be a one on one situation, it seems stanny are a bit reliant on this ''one man show'' of a forward line.... no offence.
i played against him last year, and he really must of had a massive pre season, because i didnt even really know who the f.... he was as a player (decent or not) til just the other week, because he wasnt a stand out then.... ;) i knew who he was, but didnt have to look out for him in a game.
but a similarity about now to last year is, people were all going on about nexhip, like they are oreilly, and nexhip burned out come the end of the season.... and also did struggle against top sides. i've got nothing against either of them, but people are really jumping their guns a sh!t load too early about oreilly, as they did with nexhip last yr. putting more pressure on both to perform.... and also putting them both up on a pedastoole.
thanks.

he had numerous opponents throughtout the day so they had to try a few things to see who was the best opponent to play on him.

Stanhope vs Murchison - Stanhope haven't lost much and i'd say murch haven't gotten any better stanny to dominate and Robinson to kick 6.

Know i am going back to the first round, but you do exactly what you're having a crack at others for doing. Whats the difference between you nominating how many goals someone will kick, and someone else doing it? Double standards here.

#23 for avenel is a filthy eye gouging scumbag who is in desperate need of a hair cut and should watch his back next time they play stanny as they might give him a tit reduction and dnt try tellin bruno those pecs arent man boobs

Will burn out too early in the year? What does this mean Floater? Fill us in. The kid obvioulsy sits at full forward all game, therefore would not do a great deal of running and hence would not burn out too early. The kid has played senior games in a premiership side! Can you say you have done the same? I think not. He has kicked big bags already against Gig and Murch. Yes both aren't going to be that competitive but still, if you don't get them against the lesser teams, who will you get them against? He only managed one against Rushy a couple of games ago but was well held by arguably Rushworths best player. Last game managed to kick 8 against Avenel who i guarantee you will win more games than they lose! As for stanhopes one man forward line you couldn't be more wrong. They have a bloke called B. Robinson, finished top ten goalkicking last year and second at Stanhope and has already got ten this year i believe. J. Gentle has ten already also and J.Patten 9. Correct me if i'm wrong? Not too sure on these figures. As for Nexhip burning out? He finished the season with 70 odd goals from memory! Doesn't seem like he burned out to me. I'd be happy with 70 odd for the year! Wouldn't you Hayden? If your going to come on here and talk utter rot, atleast make some part of your story correct, as all you have written about Stanhope is nonsense with no supporting evidence.

All the best.

Witnessed Stanhopes forwardline first hand on the weekend as i played down back and played on a fairly handy footballer. Not sure who he was, #7 i think? Very good hands and good leg speed. Who is J.Gentle and B.Robinson? Don't recall seeing them out there and didn't hear there names mentioned.
