It seems as though everyone believes Stanhope Lancaster will be match of the round yes? Who will kick the goals for their team to get over the line? Who will win the ball for their side to setup forward attacks? And what will be the key matchups?

I also believe Avenel Rushworth will be a big match and will show where both teams are at and wil give an early indication on how they should fair come finals.

i think orielly will have leigh wade put on him. a good player who will be disiplined and run off him to break oriellys confidence and push him up the ground in search of a kick.

whoever mans up on shellie wll have a big task at hand. maybe J. Gentle and wes will go head to head? who knows. will be interesting to find out how things go come sat morn.

I doubt lanky would be stupid enough to put there leading goal kicker on Stanhope's???? Besides the fact that O'Rielly b4 this year was a midfeilder so im sure that would back fire on Leigh Wade as O'Rielly has a height and strength advantage and is just as quick.

If Wes Shellie has an impact Lanky will still be involved in the game otherwise Stanhope should out play them as there a far better skilled side.

i think lanky would rather have wadey up forward or in the middle. i think ben schloss is going to take the job on o'reilly and for shellie i dont know if stanhope will put a player on him or just play their own game. i wouldnt worry about him, stanhope have many on ballers that can be just as damaging as shellie.

Stanhope has a very good side all over, Nick West, Regan Hanson, Sam Dearing and James Fraser along the half back line are a good strong attacking unit and will set up there forwards in O'Rielly, Robinson, J.Patten, K.Anderson and the midfield Talent in Ryan Patten, Joss Gentle and Jason Leocata will be pushing forward and back to help out at every chance, Stanhope playing at there best should account for Lanky.

Stanhope vs Murchison - Stanhope haven't lost much and i'd say murch haven't gotten any better stanny to dominate and Robinson to kick 6.

Know i am going back to the first round, but you do exactly what you're having a crack at others for doing. Whats the difference between you nominating how many goals someone will kick, and someone else doing it? Double standards here.
I never meant it arrogantly like this bloke did

Stanhope vsLanky - Too strong around the ground, will win fairly easily in my opinion. Lions by 40.

Avenel vs Rushy - Will be a very entertaining game, (are all players in swan#15??) Will be a very good contest will go to the wire

Girgarre vs Violet Town - Gig will push VT im guessing, but Towners too strong in the end, VT by 27

Nagambie vs Tally - Nagaz rely on too many.. Tally by 11

Murchison vs Undera - They SHOULD win by 150+, but if they do is another story.

It might not show the full story cos avenal thirds will still be missing key players, not only to school footy.

Will burn out too early in the year? What does this mean Floater? Fill us in. The kid obvioulsy sits at full forward all game, therefore would not do a great deal of running and hence would not burn out too early. The kid has played senior games in a premiership side! Can you say you have done the same? I think not. He has kicked big bags already against Gig and Murch. Yes both aren't going to be that competitive but still, if you don't get them against the lesser teams, who will you get them against? He only managed one against Rushy a couple of games ago but was well held by arguably Rushworths best player. Last game managed to kick 8 against Avenel who i guarantee you will win more games than they lose! As for stanhopes one man forward line you couldn't be more wrong. They have a bloke called B. Robinson, finished top ten goalkicking last year and second at Stanhope and has already got ten this year i believe. J. Gentle has ten already also and J.Patten 9. Correct me if i'm wrong? Not too sure on these figures. As for Nexhip burning out? He finished the season with 70 odd goals from memory! Doesn't seem like he burned out to me. I'd be happy with 70 odd for the year! Wouldn't you Hayden? If your going to come on here and talk utter rot, atleast make some part of your story correct, as all you have written about Stanhope is nonsense with no supporting evidence.

All the best.

mate, do u even know what burn out means??!! it doesnt mean in a single game!! you boys get on here and talk him up that much its not funny, he will burn out (meaning pressure will get to him, n he wont be able to really stand up to his reputation your forcing down his throat!!) yes he's had a gud start, but whats to say he will keep doing it?? im sure if vt had of played merrigum, gig, etc in the first few rounds, u wouldnt be talking about oreilly!! pretty sure there would be 4 vt names in the top 8 goal kickers. but yet, vt havent been so lucky, the gums forfeited against vt, n vt play gig this week, but have players out, due to injuries (ankle, wrist/head, etc) so if these factors had of not happened, you boys wouldnt be boasting about oreilly.... oh n boys, there's more blokes behind this name than u know.
kicked big bags already against Gig and Murch?? and you have pretty much just proved our argument.... that he can only get a kick against lower sides with that comment....
we arent not talking rot mate. and i know brad robinson, yes he's a handy quick spurt player, and i dont underrate him either, he can really grip a game by the neck when u need him to!!
and 70 odd goals for nexhip.... well i noticed in the last 8 games in 07, he only managed to kick a minor amount of goals....
but as we said, not having a go, just stating some of u boys better not jump ya guns too early on here.... might come back to bite ya.
and talking about rot mate.... i remember correctly you boys getting on here last year calling us vt fellas a pack of sheepdogs, and talked us down (no hopers etc).... pitty ya on field acts didnt back up ur off field words.... shame really........ especially when ya's were calling a couple of our fellas sheep dogs, dirty snipes etc (is that how you planned to shut our boys down??), you could tell that those words really hurt those boys.... because i mean that must be why they literally TORE YA'S UP granny day!!!!
they must have been pretty sad about what you said about them, especially when they were walking up onto that big old float at 12 pm getting their PREMIERSHIP medals presented to them!! ;):thumbsu:

Goodluck to ya mate!!
All the best!!

Ok Hayden just take a chill pill mate! Seems you are getting pretty worked up about Alex and his start so far. As i clearly stated in my post i said that he has also kicked 8 against Avenel. Whether they are a force this year i don't know but i can once again guarantee you that they will win more games then they lose. For your information mate i never talked down V.T once last year, nor have Stanhope jumped there guns this year. They have had a good start to the year and need to continue it. However Stanhope have only beatin sides of little competition in Murch and Gig but did account for Rushy and Avenel in consecutive weeks. As for tearing Stanhope up grand final day? I think Violet Town won by around 20 points did you not? Not much of a thumping in my eyes. You blokes won the Granny last year and good on Violet Town for doing so. But it is behind us now and i think you should worry more on this season and wanting to achieve back to back grannies. Am i right?

Exactly right. 2007 is over, the hunt for premiership glory has begun in season 2008 and it is time for all teams to step up this year instead of living in the past. It soundsd like Stanhope have moved on from last years Grand Final loss and have made some early statements to other clubs out there. Having said that Violet Town will be keen to go back to back and i believe they have the list. Stanhope Violet Town Grand Final again i'm tipping.

stanhope - look to be the team to beat again, a solid team allover the field. in my eyes last year when we played them they were one dimensional and didnt play a team game but from what i've heard they have been playing like a team out for revenge so far this year which is a good sign for stanhope.
Lancaster - don't know alot about them but do they only play aroung leigh wade and wes shellie??? will take more than that to be a top 2 team.
Avenal - have a few stand out players such as wheeler and fulco, the swans will take it right up to the stanhopes and lankys and vt's.
Undera - seem to be going a bit under the radar havent heard much of them. heard that they are a very tall team that will also push the 5.
Violet Town - havent started its title defence to well this year already dropping a game to nagambie but will be around the 5 again this year i would think. havent really been working well as a team early on though, maybe too cocky!

Tips:

Rushy V Avenal
Gig V VT
Stanhope V Lanky
Nag V Tally
Undera V Murch- Murch to win in a surprise:)

Murch will only win if Burlsy can learn to share it around! Kid is a freak but sometimes does a bit too much. Watch out for Redmond Weston, can jump 3 ft vertically and has a good set of mits. Kills it for Undera, if he plays well Undera by 1 point. Otherwise Murch in a thrashing. Honululu to kick 5

yes your right with the last bit there, back to back would be nice.... but oi im not getting worked up mate, just defending myself and my argument, but meh cant be f****d going on with it anymore, its stupid, pretty much was just saying, dont tip any other goal kickers off for the league medal yet.... and that alex isnt a superfreak as everyone says, yes he kicks goals etc etc, but he'd be in bushies and playing now, if he was as gud as he's being made out to be....
and na im not dwelling on last years luck, just sorta stating that a few of ur boys took to calling our boys bad stuff.... which everyone knows didnt work, and, it doesnt, it only makes the people who are getting the sh!t taken out of them come out even harder.
yes stanny have accounted for tough sides consectutively, but not all.
but must say, i am pretty impressed with the way you boys are playing your footy this year compaired to last year.... cleraly showing more run, and less stopages, (pretty evident if you are able to account for avenel by 50+)

what number for stanny are ya?

Rushy V Avenal - ruchy have some pretty quality type players in their list, and will be out for revenge after the past few seasons. Rushy's motor will be using every cylinder come tomorrow right from the first siren.... they'll be hard to stop through the centre and forward line.

Gig V VT - VT carrying a few injuries, but are starting to find their feet again. new recruit d. jones to have a massive first game for the club!!

Stanhope V Lanky - will possibly be pretty close, could be right down to the wire, just tipping stanny, due to their form lately.

Nag V Tally - nag to get up by 5 or 6 goals maybe, they're looking alright, and have the ability to sneak up on teams and pumble them. Tally may not be able to stop their mid field and forward line also....

Undera V Murch - undera to get up, havent really been following their success lately, but i would say they should get up....

im a bit confused.. when has anyone talked alex up this much? i think the most that anyone has said about him is that he is a chance to win the goal kicking this year.

Stan - 125
Lan - 43

Joss Gentle killed it all game. Both the Pattens were excellent in the first half and faded out a bit in the second half. Stanhope are a well drilled side and are alot better than last year.

nagambie beat tally by around 10 goals. nag got off to a good start but tally came back in the second. after half time nag took control of the game kicking away in the last. anthony haysom kicked 7 for nagambie and the only reason he was down there was because he was injured. in the first quarter playing on ball got about 15 touches. sanderson play well rucking all day and tranter also played well. not many stand out's for tally. they have work to do.

Would you say that my prediction about stanhope's backline being alot too strong was true?
