WHAT A LOAD OF SHIT THEY ARE! Took one bite out of it, and it crumbled apart in the bag!

Few things in life are more annoying than a structurally unsound wrap. There's a chicken shop near my work that does these great breast wraps with piri piri sauce. Absolutely beautiful. But they can't wrap them properly, and you end up having to scoop out the bottom third from the bag. Not right.

Have sampled most of the kebabs mentioned here in the Northern Suburbs. Three special mentions:
1. Tiba's on Sydney Rd - Lebanese restaurant that serves much more than just kebabs. Get the mixed grilled 99% of the time but the few times I've gotten a kebab they've been brilliant.
2. Sheesh on Mickleham Rd in Tullamarine. Didn't expect it to be anywhere near as good as it was.
3. Fawkner Kebab House, Bonwick St Fawkner. Tucked away in suburban Fawkner so only locals would have heard about it but AFAIC it's a must try if you live anywhere near the area. Bake their own bread on site, have great meals and the kebabs are exceptional.

Oh and I've recently adopted the garlic + sweet chilli combo and I like it just fine. :thumbsu:

I'd have to agree with thoose saying sweet chilli sauce isn't great on a kebab. My favourite kebab place in Melbourne was Fitzroy Kebab on Smith st near the corner of Gertude st. It used to have a nice turkish bloke running it. Very generous with meat and he used to use the HOT chilli sauce (not sweet). It mixed perfectly with the garlic sauce and the delicious sauce is a strange orange colour. I became obsessed with it:

The first time I went to London in '94, I was addicted to kofte kebabs at this place in Bayswater. No one seems to do them here.

Shame...these things were so good, I could've stuck my head in them. Man I can taste them. :D
Ha just had a look and it's still there: Taza kebab house on Queensway. They do shawarma too.

Best I've been to recently...

Melbourne kebab station.
Richmond kebab house.
clayton kebab house (probably the best)

clayton kebabs are jam packed with meat and they have a really nice chilli dip that goes well with the garlic dip.

All the kebabs I had in London were awful. I hate the way they serve them over there too, opened up rather than wrapped up in a roll, makes it much harder to eat them, especially when you're pissed. There was a kebab place around the corner from where I lived in Acton which did horrendous kebabs, couldn't even tell what sort of meat was in them, it was like spam and they always gave you bad indigestion and heartburn. I still ended up getting one almost every time I walked home from the pub though as it was the only place open late at night and then I always regretted it later.

Cosmos kebabs in Leedervile are the best kebabs I've had here but most kebab places here are pretty good compared to the ones I went to in London.

Gino's Kebabs right next to a car wash I'm pretty sure along Pascoe Vale Road in Strathmore have never let me down. Been there a few times whenever I stay at a mates place from uni after a night out with him, owner is nice and they're an efficient working group. Would give it a 4/5

Was gonna post this one, that's my "local" and they're pretty good. :thumbsu:

Bang! correct

The all night pizza cafe in Vic park is also pretty good for Kebabs

A little afghan Supermarket in Queens park on Wharf Street make a brilliant Vegeterian Kebab

Also, Rivervale (yeah i know) on Kooyong road the ali baba's is freaking brilliant, cook their own bread, Its the best kebab i've ever had.

Also, cannot understand the Toasting of kebabs.

i raise you with two other joints.

ararat kebabs at broadway next to udub in nedlands. unbelievable.

and little lebanon joondanna (wanneroo rd right at the start) very good.

thing is now i remember years ago it was very hard to find a kebab joint except in town and in victoria park. now theyre everywhere. we're spoilt for choice now.

one place that used to make this superb mixed platter was alaturka in subiaco. unbelievable. shame they gave up on their lease. they were making a killing.

It is OT, but back in the 70's there was a guy who drove a caravan, selling baked potatoes. It was called Tommy Tatters & he used to park outside Dorset Gardens & the Croydon Hotel. You can shove your kebabs, Tommy Taters crapped all over kebabs.

What about people who live in Southern Melbourne? Not too many contributing, I'd nominate the one at Cheltenham station. Another good one around, although not a kebab (souva) which you can get at a Fish and chip shop in Beaumaris is called "The Spartan". Normal Kebab, with added ingredients of mustard, red chilli, red onions, capsicum and chips. Is a very nice bite.

I was the opposite mate, I loved the way the make their kebabs in London. I always went the grilled chicken and it was always packed with meat, it was so big I needed to use the little wood forks they use with their portion of chips to eat a good portion of it before you could use your hands. My local one in Willesden Green was awesome.

Kebabs & Sauces on burwood road, $6 kebabs on Tuesday and Thursday. Quality, can't go wrong for that price. There's a few I gotta try around Doncaster. Ali's kebabs was good back in the days, not sure that's still there though (around donny road and mitcham road).

I think I remember the dude. But it was late 80's when I encountered him. Area nightclub right? A fair bit of time after the supposed moon landing.
He was a campaigner. Would call the cops or bouncers on pissed teens who were unsatisfied with his below par offerings. Rumour has it that the taters were flanged with essence of dog.

FO back to TLC & brag about your post, they will enjoy your low intelligence post.

Is that right near Auburn station? F*** me they pack their kebabs so generously!
