Some of Perths practicing witches are upset over suggestions that the murder of Kerryn Tate in Karragulen is linked to witchcraft.
A man who rang the Daily News yesterday said he was a warlock in a Fremantle coven of white witches and claimed that the speculation had unfairly damaged the reputation of Perths three covens.
“Nothing has come out which would support the claim that witchcraft is connected to her murder” he said.
I know the activities of all the covens and the way she was murdered does not fit in with anything they do. The jewellery she was wearing means nothing.
Another man said he had dabbled in white whitchcraft and studied black witchcraft. He was convinced Miss Tates murder was committed for black witchcrafts …………….?
Blood? sacrifices, New Year, silver jewellery ……………..and fire are all very significant for black witches he said.
They are also very ......... sexuality?
If it became known to them that somebody like this girl was talking about black witchcraft or dabbling in it they would be (out for her?) very quickly.
A murder would mean nothing to them, they are very bad people.
An anonymous caller also phoned a perth radio station last night saying that he would ask the Press Council to ? the Daily News over a story yesterday about Miss Tates murder and her interest in witchcraft.
The man who claimed to be a representative of a white coven said the story was slanderous because it implied that witchcraft and black magic had something to do with Miss Tates murder.
In fact the third and forth paragraph of the story stressed that the police were not convinced that the link with witchcraft had a bearing on her murder and confirmed that a close friend of hers had confirmed that she was interested but not involved.
The man said that Miss Tate had been interested in the white wicca magic of witchcraft not black but he said that she had not been initiated. She had attended a few lectures at a white coven.
He said that white witchcraft involved healing and the nature spirits not evil.
The man also said that the piece of jewellery, a crab's claw found around Miss Tates neck had nothing to do with witchcraft.
Belinda? Graham?(24) said there was no way Miss Tate had been interested in the occult.
She said Miss tate had been a loner with few close friends but a lot of acquaintances.
Miss Graham said she had known Miss Tate for about a year. During that time they had both discussed subjects about the supernatural, occult, religion and witchcraft.

guess if cops have reopened cold case investigation then various covens and daves music show might be getting some attention reported that dave already has had a couple of visits degrees of separation

Missed this first time around

Take away all the witchcraft angle ( I think its a red herring) the interesting thing is the locations. I have used google maps and found some interesting things others may have already touched on. Excuse my lack of Perth knowledge.

This is somebody or some group that has knowledge of Perths southern and eastern suburbs but more familiar with the south. Now I recognise roads can change so street directories have to be utilised . Google tells me Pinjarra and Forrestdale are linked by Thomas Rd and Armadale Rd. Forrestdale can be linked to Brookton Hwy in an easy manner using Armadale Rd through Armadale and into Brookton Hwy. Then the Canning Rd from Brookton to Mundaring is feasible.

Are they linked? Possibly but not by witchcraft. The burning can be removing evidence (someone with knowledge of police techniques? )

I have removed Mason from this as I think it is an outlier from the rest of the pattern. Ugle may even be another outlier and I may discuss her later

The 1st thing I see is from December 79 to November 80 there is a batch then a break. Then May and June 1986 there are 2 more.

Ugle is 2003 and and the gap is too much for me. She might fit another person discussed here and due for parole very very soon.

Did somebody get arrested and spent some time away or are there known murders ie the Birnie ones . It is alleged the Birnies may have been responsible for the 2 murders in 1986

That then leaves somebody active in 79/80 then no longer ( as known ) did they die or get locked up? Shelly is right that DNA techniques might narrow somebody or somebodies

1979 is 39 years ago as you rightly point out did they die or get locked up other options would be travel interstate / overseas or relationship or change their mo or stop (unlikely) could be a number of factors agree with southern and eastern suburbs familiarity degrees of separation

Does anyone know the name of this victim or have any further details?

Warner’s initial assumption was that they were following up on the disappearance of a girl in 1980 after she was at North Cottesloe Surf Club on the night his band played there. Her body was found but to this day the killer has never been found.

August 19, 1992: Andrew Garforth abducted nine-year-old Ebony Simpson as she walked home from school, sexually assaulted her, packed her pink schoolbag with rocks and then threw her into a freezing cold dam to drown.

Andrew Garforth, 29, had moved to the area a few months before from Western Australia (Orelia) with his defacto wife and two children.

The neighbour says he saw Ebony walking home and he noticed around the corner from where she was walking there was a small yellow Mazda, with its bonnet up and a man looking under the hood.

Andrew Garforth lived in Orelia, Western Australia until 1992. Andrew was 29 in 1992. The suburb next to Parmelia. Orelia is also adjacent Spectacles, where another woman was found. Barbara Western? Cheryl Renwick?

Kerryn Tate returned to her home in Mt Lawley around 11.00 am 29th December 1979 after the North Cottesloe Surf Club dance the night before. She was dropped off by a young man she knew. Detectives want to find out what happened in the 7 hour gap until they established she died at 6.00 pm that night, bashed and then burnt.

She somehow got a ride to Brookton highway Karragullen, presumably near where she was looking after a friends dog. A girl rang crime stoppers with information at 6.45 pm Thursday Jan 3rd.

"About that girl. Me and my boyfriend were walking along near the bushes and we saw that girl on a motorbike with a guy."

"I saw that girl. She was on a motorbike with a man across the road in the bush. I don't know anymore. I won't give my name. That's all I want to say."

I wonder if that was all she new and why she never came forward again.

Ebony Simpson was abducted after getting off a school bus in 1992 in NSW. Sharon Mason (1983) had got off a school bus. Garford would be 20. Potential for Lisa Mott in 1980 although he would have been 17.

Andrew Garforth born in in 1963 would be approximately 55 today. If he got Dorothy, he may have chased down Julie Cutler. Julie would be 52.

Garforth lived in Orelia, next to Parmelia. Garforth dumped the Ebony in a dam with a back pack full of rocks.

He is also potential for Lisa Mott.

I still can't find the body found beside the road, next to the Spectacles which is only a couple of hundred metres from where Garforth lived.

Kerryn was beaten to death. Dorothy was savagely beaten. Felcia has her head smashed with a rock.

Reading reports he followed school buses. Did he follow Sharon Mason? Did he follow Lisa Mott?
