KISS to play at the Grand Final

So an organisation that just signed a $4.5b broadcast deal couldn't find an artist to perform on its most important day that's got a single song in the Australian charts during the lifetime of any current player.

Remarkable.

Obviously no-one in the AFL has any clue about music. They think everyone still uses a walkman and drinks TAB Cola.

Clearly some of you dipshits haven't seen their show.
Have a cry you old fart.
I'd be surprised if any of the players have even heard of KISS.

Capper could drive the pink car featured in the clip onto the 'G'. Has something cool like that been done before?
Hell yeah. If the AFL insist on pushing their bad taste onto the rest of us, they might as well lean into it. Get Baz Luhrmann to choreograph a whole dance sequence with Capper in a pink ferrari cruising around the boundary line as scantily clad men and women wearing sequins in blue, red and white perform feats of acrobats around him.

This is absolutely smoking - but it's nearly 50 years ago. No lip syncing here.

I love KISS but yeah, they do look a bit tired these days. I sort of hope they do mime the whole thing. Half time entertainment by definition should be rubbish.

It makes sense, they will be here anyway, it should be a good 15 minutes if they can pull off the stage show in the middle of the afternoon. People will be excited to see them and they really want to do it.

It's not like the AFL is trying to drum up the eyeballs on that particular part of the broadcast in order to sell the grand final broadcast rights for more - buying a headline act to fly them to Australia for a set and then back they go. It's an exercise of trying to secure a recognizable brand for the cheapest price for the people who are most likely to be watching at home.

There are plenty of Aussie bands that could easily fill the slot, be recognisable, and not demand a ridiculous payment to fly out here.

I agree that it does make sense to lean into groups that already happen to be in Australia, but KISS seems like a bad choice given no one under the age of 30 would have heard of them, let alone heard of their music.

A desecration to our great game, and our intelligence as people.
This band sucks beyond all possible belief, absolutely ALWAYS has, and needs to be taken out back and shot in the head.Twice.
Wanna help you, want to be there for you....
