The article said the meeting was an information session and that a vote wouldn't be taken. That said, maybe the journalist was wrong.

Any chance of Kaniva heading back, believe the current president there was pretty keen a couple of years ago, think he may have been KNTFL president at some stage7 teams isn't really an improvement - MID SE only has 8
This leaves the KNTFL with 9
It's a wonder Naracoorte haven't followed suit

That got knocked on the head last year. Nhill apparently wernt particularly financial.Kaniva-Leeor had discussions about merging with Nhill.
That second part is certainly not correct; but discussions between the clubs did not proceed past early 2022.That got knocked on the head last year. Nhill apparently wernt particularly financial.
It would be interesting to know how many were present. That's likely only three to five people short of the required percentage and obviously the majority were in favour. But a 66% requirement seems fair on such a big change too.9:21

In Penola - The Penola Football Netball Club will
NOT join a re-badged Western Border competition in 2024 after only 63.9% of its members voted in favour of leaving the Kowree Naracoorte Tatiara at a meeting at the McCorquindale Park clubrooms tonight.
The votes were cast by members, adult players of both codes, life members and sponsors and a 66% vote was needed to switch leagues.
Penola are already struggling in the KNTFLThe result is not good for club harmony when over three-fifths of the club don't want to be in that league.
It could well result in players crossing over to MSE or WB clubs.
They play all the games on the same day at the same ground in the KNTFL and Mid South East. Mostly the same in the WBFL as wellShame really - the juniors is where it's hurting most
some of the Mount Gambier clubs have too many juniors and a lot of the district teams struggle for numbers
They just need to make some regional junior league into conferences/regions to reduce travel then have a finals series but spread the players around
Here in Brisbane (I've been here for 10 years now) - kids in the NW suburbs where I live used to travel 1-2 hours to play youth or Junior games
Now they split it up into mini regional divisions so your longest trip is less than a 60 minute drive - ideal if you have multiple kids at different age levels
How they do that across the WBFL, MID-SE and KNTFL I got no fruiting idea - they'd have to get everyone on the same page first and agree on the same grades
Struggling in what way? They can't always be up the top. They have been successful in the last 10 yearsPenola are already struggling in the KNTFL
They already have an interleague carnivalWith the sheer amount of travel they need to try to make the max travel time for juniors and youth 60 minutes or less
And shorten the junior finals where they have a mass Junior SE of SA footy carnival in one city over a weekend at the end of year and rotate it
The Seniors they need to get everyone on the same page but if you're the MID-SE if it ain't broke don't fix it whilst the KNTFL and WBFL clearly need changes
