The kid is 22 Brother of scott. is mature age, big bodied, we could do alot worse than giving him a go as a rookie, i have a feeling there are a few clubs looking at him. Nearly got drafted by essendon but they felt he was putting basketball in front of footy. He plays as a backman, back pocket played very well in the vfl finals this year was amongst the best, Very consistent, and with our back line suspect when Presti goes i think we should give him a shot, either rookie or late in the NPD, your thoughts....:thumbsu:

I'm sure the pies have considered it, and if he is good enough they will take him, they're obviously in the best position to judge. I don't know enough about him to say if we should or shouldn't, but I do know that if he is they will surely draft him.

the story goes something along the lines of this.

our scout was told to have a look at kris a few years ago and wasnt overly impressed, but he asked someone who this other guy was playing in the same game and was told he was kris"s younger brother scott, so we drafted him, so if it wasnt for kris we probably wouldnt have scott lol, im sure 99% of you know the story though.

i think kris is worth the gamble though, looks smooth enough and is certainly good enough for VFL footy, maybe we could use our 1st/2nd pick in the pre season draft ? easily a better option than corrie.

This year with the Gold Coast concessions there is option to pick up a mature age recruit as a rookie.

I'm guessing at this stage Kris Pendlebury leads the race, also Frost if anyone has seen him play at VFL level I would also give a chance.

I watched Frost play in the EFL Granny. He did nuthin. If he can't perform in a grassroots game, he doesn't deserve to be rookie listed.

Would you draft him if his name was Kris Smith? Probably not.

No thanks. We have plenty of tall 3rd tall types. He is not big enough or fast enough to be a KPP at AFL level.

Good surname though.

Some people want to turn this into a very brotherly club.

Suggestions that we should draft for Sam Reid at pick 30 have been touted, Clay Beams with a later pick, and possibly pick up K-Pend in the rookie draft! We are not here to be in the business of drafting brothers...

I doubt we will get any of these, to be honest. I would, however, like to get Adam, Scott, and Troy Selwood's brother, if that counts...

He did look good in the VFL finals but I would give it a miss even as a mature aged rookie

He definitely goes alright but I can't see him making the step up to AFL. Would probably play as a small defender but we are pretty keen on Toovey or Goldsack in these roles because they play tall as well. Also reckon Macaffer will go back this year.

But there are worst out there on AFL lists. I just don't think we have the room this year. Only 3 picks at this stage.

Likewise what these two showed during the VFL finals was terrific. Why not rookie them they were both better than Thoolen, Corrie ETC. Although Bennel was also good in these games.

I was trying to find out about Kris Pendlebury and I just had to highlight this beauty about Sam! We ended up using pick 38 on him.:D

How did Sam Reid drop right through to pick 38, especially given his brother's success?

The Hutchman wrote GWS is looking at Kris. Be stoked if he got a gig at AFL level.
Also, if these 'murmurs' are true about Toov or the 'Sack leaving, I wouldn't be against chucking him on the rookie list as insurance.

They could be doing what GC did with Ablett. Take his less talented brother and lour him over there.

What would his brother's success have to do with him as a footballer and his draft positioning?

Quite a lot I would think given the emphasis placed on good blood lines. Furthermore, I can only assume that Sam showed something as an U/18 that suggested he would be a powerful forward presence. Good big men don't usually fall so far in a draft, particularly if their elder brother went at number 8 several years earlier.

Wish we had...

Let's not get sentimental about brothers etc.......he would absolutely get eaten up by good forwards. Yes, he is strong, but has a real lack of pace and would get eaten up by any half decent AFL forward.
