Ultra Jet, any chance of getting the Ferret Racers future son in law from Euroa in a Swans kit?
Have tried many many times jokingly, but am also against dragging a gun young bloke from top level to our comp prematurely. He did play in VT’s grand final side in 2017 after a mid season crossover. Is in some serious Nick now tho through hard work, superstar player. Along with his younger brother.

Flogging a dead horse there fella. Just sounding a bit salty. TK has come to play with some mates and win games of footy rather then get pumped every week. I’m sure you’re aware that good sides require sacrifices.

Not much for many to be on big salaries in the KD! $75,000 wouldn’t go far in the top sides when you add incentives into it.

I imagine in the top of the top there might be a couple on a good wicket and many well underpaid. Or all sacrificing some extra $$ for wins and the culture.

TK will be a good signing. Great fella on top of his footy ability. I’ve played twos all my footy years, one year at Stanhope when TK was there. I always see it as a measure of a good person when a Senior player is happy to get friendly with the Ressies guys. He’s always happy to stop and have a yarn whenever I bump into him, even after 9 years.

In my time involved in the Kdfl you will be surprised how many boys play for free to try and have some success , or how many better players are giving a mate a cut of their money to get them to play.
I think you will find over the next short while we could be talking about how much executives of clubs are getting paid just to try and find someone to do the job.

I can honestly say as an ex player I would go back and play every single game of footy for nothing just to win a flag with a club that you should care about and love putting the jumper on every week. When you look back at your footy career money means Jack shit it’s the success you have and the memories that are made that last forever!!

It's official: we have had a 'champ'-ing on BigFooty. A rare thing these days I must say.
You should be a recruiter mate. Tell the blokes in the pipeline those words. Most you talk too $$ are they main priority. You can talk to 30 blokes and be lucky to get 1. Footy is my religion, I play because I love it, I do what I do because I love my club and my teammates. Some conversations had with potential players you feel some guys don’t have a genuine love for playing anymore other than money, it’s sad really.

Grass I was a registered member of Gig at one stage and made the choice predominately due to the clubs prior relationship with a club , I was then playing with. For mine the issue with GiG is the every changing direction , which isn’t likely to be helped now with the points system . I truly enjoyed my time at the club and everyone was very welcoming .
IIRC Gig hasn’t won a flag since Stanhope joined the KDFNL??
And Gig hasn’t beaten Stanhope since 1999, that’s a long time for a team to have the wood over another

The problem is blokes like to think they are worth more than the next which unfortunately can unravel a club really quickly and turn a culture sour.
What annoys me is when clubs feel they need to give a player 100 or 200 dollars just to play when they are just ordinary/ok players, barely featuring in the best players each week.
Wouldn’t it be great if the senior coach and maybe 2 assistant coaches were paid and that’s it!
Ensure you have a good amount of money for best players each week for incentives. I understand it will never go back to that way again but it’s up to the clubs to become stronger in there standing and focus on getting the right blokes to their club.

But are you happy to let the $100 or $200 player stay home from training when he's buggered from being on the tools all day or has done a 12 hour day on the farm? & relieve them from doing the Club wood cuts or buying and selling books of Raffle tickets? Young blokes 18 to 23/24 love the environment being amongst mates but it wears off as one guys get more responsibilities. You'd want $100 plus for the commitment of it. Also their are plenty of guys that play valuable games for Clubs when they aren't named in the Best players. Giving the local commited guys a sling wouldn't be a worry at all for me.

Imagine the facility upgrades and resource that could be put into junior footy/netball pathways etc if senior and assistant coaches were the only paid.
$$ in football has forced country people to become prolific fundraising machines…imagine where those funds could go inside small town communities and clubs if it weren’t to players. Aah to dream!!

In saying that, without the demand to pay players to stay competitive etc, maybe those fundraising skills would have never developed.

I can remember back in 2000 when we won the seniors flag we had a great incentive scheme that our locals that were travelling back from uni etc were more than happy with it and not a lot off money was spent on actual players.. u had to earn your $$$.. think big Gav was on 12k back then to coach..

Imagine the head Wobble on the ferreter if he was in a swans jumper!

I do understand what you are saying fly but where does it stop when it comes to giving out money. Giving out 100 or 200 dollars to some of your middle to bottom tank players in my view just causes friction between players and sometimes the club committee giving out the money.
I believe the money and contract talks between club and player have become dictated by the player not the club. This just causes issues with clubs trying maintain a healthy budget in my view it’s been going on too long like this.
In a nutshell fly I just think you are better off paying up to 3 assistants along with a coach and look at paying your captain if need be because usually they are one of your hardest working players.
Ensure each of these players have a role at the club outside there tittle i.e developing role for young players, running some of the training each week and of course selection of side.
I wouldn’t have a problem if all players receive an amount of money that works within your clubs budget for a win each week to help with as you say the fellas on the tools ect. After this you may have more money to throw at incentives each week as well.
I personally have no problems knowing that the players getting paid have a important role at the club and are giving something back. It’s about good culture and success in my book
