I don't think there's a club out there that wouldn't have the salary cap room to offer Van Rooyen a contract to tempt him.
Some clubs have more cap space than others.

Obviously. Unless he has a remarkable year though, every club will be able to afford him heading into 2024. No club is going to offer him a monster deal.
Front loaded deals are always more attractive.
Some clubs can do that better than others as well.
McRae from Lions to Pies?Um didnt Jackson's move to Freo get flagged mid season?
And Dunkley's move from the Dogs nearly happened two years ago and finally happened last trade period?
Same with McRae from Lions to Pies.
Franklin was always leaving the Hawks, Swans just went under the radar with GSW being the obvious suitor.
So not sure about 'everything you hear' is propoganda. Throw enough darts and you eventually score.
Yeah clubs can front end. My point remains though, unless he has a remarkable 2023 season no club will be priced out of an offer.
Whats the average salary now $400k?
3 year deal yr 1 $700k + yr2 $250k + yr3 $250k total $1.2m averaging $400k over three years.
You hope over that 3 years he becomes at least a serviceable AFL player, average to above average.
If after two years he's looking above average you extend his contract and pay what he's worth.
Not every club could do that with multiple players on big deals.
Fears growing Pickett will leave Demons the longer he remains unsigned
“The longer it goes on, the greater the fears are he’ll follow in Luke Jackson’s footsteps.”www.sen.com.au
Seems like Kozi is likely bound for Port Adelaide tbh
Why would you say it cost you pick 6 for Hogan and yet not mention that you got pick 2 for Lachie Weller? At least be balanced. And freo, Weller Neale hill Langdon cerra Logue hogan(cost pick 6)
Delt lemons make lemonade!
Honestly, Freo had nothing to offer melbourne and the deal still got done. Port will just offer a future 1 and a player/some early 2nds.We have jack s**t to offer up at the moment. Would be difficult to offer up something enticing to Melbourne.
It’s not completely irrelevant we used pick 6 and he left after 3 years. Why would you say it cost you pick 6 for Hogan and yet not mention that you got pick 2 for Lachie Weller? At least be balanced.
Also Hogan was worth more than pick 6 at the time he was traded. Melbourne caved into Peter Bell after 3 days of a standoff as the dees wanted 2 firsts. The fact that hogan was poor at Freo is completely irrelevant. Cerra and Langdon were big losses though.

And in any event Kossie is out of contract, so we only need to offer something to Melbourne that's better than losing him for nothing. The hard bit is enticing Kossie, not enticing Melbourne.I don't think PAFC would be having this massive crack at Kozi if they were not confident they couldn't find a way to get a deal done.
Bit more meat on this oneI am concerned about losing Kozzy. However this article is nothing new. Just what has already been reported. Also isn’t he Western Australian? Sure he was recruited from SA but only lived there a couple of years IIRC. If he did end up at Port sounds like Georgiades would be a chance to come back our way. I read somewhere he wasn’t keen on going home to WA but had interest in Vic.
Its going to be fascinating to see how port could get the collateral to trade for him considering they have very little left after the JHF trade. I am in the boat that they will trade out a player or 2 of value to get what they need for Pickett - they get deals done (IF Pickett wants out and wants to go to Port)Bit more meat on this one
Port Adelaide “cautiously optimistic” in luring connected Pickett to Alberton
“The powers at be have been working on him for over 12 months.”www.sen.com.au
Yep. Georgiades is the name that will keep being mentioned until he signs but I wouldn't be entertaining that idea if I was Port. Rozee and Butter should be untouchable. Could see Duursma leaving but they'd still be short on capital for Kozi. Its going to be fascinating to see how port could get the collateral to trade for him considering they have very little left after the JHF trade. how many 1st rounders do they need to use in a 4 year period? and how many have they traded away? - I am genuinely not sure but could that be a stumbling blockFor an OOC player, Port would have no problem getting enough capital to bring in Pickett. The future 1st would be the majority of the deal then the bargaining for more/less would depend on where Port finish this year
We've used 7 first round picks in the last 4 years. I'm not sure how that plays out but it's not like we trade them all away.how many 1st rounders do they need to use in a 4 year period? and how many have they traded away? - I am genuinely not sure but could that be a stumbling block
And we used 2 to bring in a 19yo former number 1 pickWe've used 7 first round picks in the last 4 years. I'm not sure how that plays out but it's not like we trade them all away.
