This guy seems quite rational despite being evacuated from his house.

Wow a black man in California sticking up for Trump, I thought Trump was a racist, surely he should have voted for Kamala Harris.

Even black people in California know that Gavin Newsom and Kamala Harris are duds and prefer President Trump and Elon Musk.

I've been to LA a couple of times - 07 & again in 2012/13 - while I know some ask why but it was somewhere I loved to visit and had still on my bucket list with somewhere like Long Beach that I hadn't got to

Both trips I stayed West Hollywood, which allows for each access to a walk up Runyon Canyon for the best views of LA and also went to Santa Monica & Malibu - so watching what's happening with these fires, it just hits a little as they're places that have provided good memories in the past

It's a great spot to stay and maybe the best in Los Angeles.

Plan to go for my 7th time in September, never get bored of things and areas to see.

They're having a major issue unfolding at the moment with the Eaton fire.

The fire is racing up Mount Wilson. Mount Wilson has major transmitters for the various LA radio, TV stations along with with government agencies.

The fires has reached those transmitters

This is driven by climate change which Trump is going to make significantly worse. Race doesn't pick and choose when it comes to stupid people.

Looks like Trump hates Gavin Newsom as much as Adam Carolla.

To think he is being suggested as a potential Democrat presidential candidate, he would be even worse than Kamala Harris.

I wouldn't say this LA wildfire disaster is all his fault but he would be partly to blame, he is an all talk no action type of guy.

There is a reason more people are leaving California now than going there for the first time in history, it's turned into a shitshow.

This wildfire disaster is a day of reckoning for all the LA celebrities voting for the Democrats, now that some of their houses have burned down they might be changing their tune.

Sad thing about any natural disaster is that certain people enjoy it as it provides fuel (excuse the pun). An opportunity to attack the governing side. So in many ways, it's a good thing politically.

Exactly. I wouldn't want my tax payer dollars from Ohio going to help the rich celebs in California. That's why when President Trump initially rejected Federal disaster relief in the wake of the 2020 fires I was happy.

Why should my tax payer dollars go help other people who were too stupid to live in a Democratic state? :drunk:

No you're doing it wrong you're meant to say Trump being back is good because he's going to help people

Some basics from these fires which seems to be getting overlooked:

After millions of views spreading lies about the Palisades firefighters lacking water because of regulations, the boring truth comes late like usual and wont be shared. Here it is:

1 - Reservoirs and water tanks were at normal levels and completely full before the fire.

2 - All 114 city water supply tanks were fully stocked pre-fire.

3 - A 15-hour surge at four times normal demand reduced water pressure.

4 - High demand at lower elevations slowed refilling tanks at higher elevations.

5 - This unprecedented fire was fueled by 8 months of no rain and 85 MPH winds. Water is being brought in continuously.

6 - Even if, like Trump claimed, the protection of the Delta Smelt caused over regulation by California, it's the FEDERAL Endangered Species Act that requires the protection of endangered species like the Delta Smelt and their habitats, not Gavin Newsom or California.

Point 5 is a pretty significant one - 85mph winds, or roughly 140kmh winds are speeds approaching cyclonic wind speeds. That stopped firefighting aircraft from being able to attack the fires from the air due to the dangerous conditions

With early air support available things may have been different, but the conditions worked against those trying to do their jobs

For some reason people who believe California is the worst place in the US despite having one of the lower poverty rates I think aren't going to care about this information

You only have to listen to LA talk radio to hear conservatives are jumping with glee.

I've heard firefighters talking about it being largely impossible to combat the fires due to the combination of wind and how dry everything is.

It's eeriely similar to hearing first hand accounts of the Black Saturday bushfires. The ratings are based on how far the embers can ignite homes ahead of the fire front and on Black Saturday they were measuring the embers in kilometres that were exceeding the 'catastrophic' rating.

The scariest part about this is it's January - the middle of their winter. We're so accustomed to heading about bushfires in January it's easy to forget these are the colder months over there.

And this is a point that I remember reading about after the Woolsey Fires with a lot of shit being thrown on the political situation in Cali:

- Forest Management: Misplaced Responsibility

Another favorite talking point is that California’s wildfire crisis is somehow Newsom’s fault due to "poor forest management." But here’s the truth:

California has 33 million acres of forest, and the state only manages 3% of that land. The federal government controls 57%, and the remaining 40% is privately owned.

While Newsom has invested heavily in fire prevention programs and strict regulations for private landowners, the federal government has primary responsibility for most of California’s forests. (the same federal government that saw many devastating wildfires under President Trump). Federal funding for proactive forest management is not where it needs to be. Blame Congress.

Ironically, it’s often Republicans who oppose the very state regulations designed to improve fire prevention on private lands, calling them "overregulation."

So unless someone wants to truly suggest that been the Woolsey Fires in 2018 and the current fires that it's only the 3% of forests that are state managed which are burning, it would seem that there's got to be a much stronger collective approach to forest management in Cali especially with 97% either controlled by the Federal government or privately owned
