Interesting. Did he provide any further information? Lachie doesn’t have any obvious link to Brisbane does he? After the last few seasons of player movement, nothing would really surprise me but this does seem very left field.

Whilst no-one is untradeable, I can't imagine any club paying the price we'd expect. I'd start at Hipwood and their 2nd rounder for Brisbane.

Neale is probably 2nd to Fyfe in terms of most required players.

By the sounds of it, the Lions have approached Neale and he is considering the offer.

Could be one of those godfather offers that the player has to seriously think about.

Perhaps a revamped contract is all that is needed for him to stay.

Weller is obviously not worth pick 2, but IMO i'd rather Neale than pick 4. Neale is an A-grader, there is absolutely no guarantee we'd get another one with pick 4.

Exactly this. While his manager is one of the good ones who has given this board some fantastic insight over the years, he still needs to act in the best interests of his client. Stuff like this gives him leverage to get the best possible contract which is perfectly acceptable. I doubt he really wants to go and I doubt the club wants to let him go.

afl.com.au article says he has raised it with Freo and was knocked back, that Brisbane are happy to trade #4 for him and were talking to him when he was last out of contract.

An extra $200,000 for the next deal it seems. Or five years as per the usual.
