We were a game away, anyone remember the Fremantle game? Wait till round 2 aye?

Remember that it was our first year under a new coach and we were experimenting with the list for most of the year. Like most sides with a new coach and gameplan we floundered about before finishing strongly. Ross Lyons 2012 Freo side was getting bombarded at one point by the media until they hit good form which carried on into 2013 but they quite shocking earlier in 2012. A fit Murphy and Thomas also makes our midfield more potent then last year. Of course we are still months away from seeing how our predictions hold up.

Ok Giants 1st 5 rounds

Swans - GS - 0/100
StKilda - ES - 25/75
Demons - GS - 40/60
Bulldogs - SO - 30/70
Crows - AO - 0/100

I think Footscray are still better than GWS and there's a big gap between them still. Melboune is their best chance although I feel like with the trades they made, a fit Clark and Hogan they could go places under Roos' leadership. St Kilda at Etihad is a tough ask, St Kilda play there well and they made some smart moves in the off season. GWS are more likely to be scared of Sydney than vice versa, what with a forwardline of Tippett and Franklin. GWS' backline is still undersized and will be exposed.

Carlton's strong finish to 2013 included:
- a loss to the Bulldogs, after seeing them have 13 more scoring shots
- a loss to an Essendon team who didn't get within 10 goals of any of their other opponents over the remaining six rounds
- a belting by a Sydney team who were out on their feet by the time the finals arrived

Yep, you blokes certainly are going places...

Difference is that we didn't give a shit for those other games because we knew we weren't playing finals and we just wanted to make sure the arch enemies didn't make finals, which Port Adelaide stuffed up!

A belting by Sydney you say despite us losing by 20 points? Didn't Sydney absolutely demolish Collingwood at the G ( 50 point loss to our v 20) and Essendon also destroyed Collingwood on Anzac day too. Carlton were on their feet too against Sydney considering we were playing on a ice skating rink. We had a major chunk of our midfield out against the Bulldogs and three injuries during the game. Poor goal kicking (9.22) and a lack of run hurt us against Essendon for sure but we managed to address our issue with our lack of run in the off-season with Thomas, Docherty and Everitt.
- Beating Richmond who was widely predicted by experts like you to smash us the week right after our game against the Bulldogs when our midfield was strengthened again although we had several injuries in this game which hurt us against Essendon
- Our strong finish to the season also included a win coming back from 39 points down against Port at AAMI
- A elimination final win to progress to the 2nd round which Collingwood incidentally failed miserably to do despite their pre-final talk of potentially winning the premiership from 6th.

Collingwood fans really shouldn't bag Carlton considering they lost a home final at the G against a interstate team whom they had a record number of turnovers by foot against.

You obviously don't watch the games, instead simply look at the final scores.

Carlton, going places.

Like Collingwood who lose games because of their poor foot skills but then decide to let their players with skill go to get another small blue collar mid while ignoring the great irony of what they just did to themselves?

So Collingwood lose by 50 points and its all good. Carlton lose by 20 on a ice skating rink and its a thumping In your eyes Fadge? Considering that the fact that we had about 20 players have surgery in the off-season shows that we weren't exactly in top shape against Sydney. Your bias is also obvious when you completely ignore the good and focus on the bad. I also used Freo as example due to their relatively good finals campaign ( remember that Adelaide in semi final came hard back to beat them despite been 30 points down) rather then their H&A results against easy beat teams at home and North who were out of gas by the end of the 2012 season.

It's pretty tough to find the 'good' in Carlton, unless you're a Carlton supporter.

Are you deluded?

Is that 2 final wins in over a decade you hang your hat on?

Nope. We changed 25% of our list in the off-season and added three best 22 ( Docherty will need time) players who address one of our major weaknesses in 2013 ( outside run) while losing players who were surplus. Pretty keen like everyone else is for 2014.

Sure it can all go to shit like WC and Adelaide did in 2013 but I can't predict the future.
