Teams Las Vegas Raiders - The Black Hole

Vegas is seventh in fantasy points over the past month. Now, the Raiders face a Saints team that just became the first NFL team shut out this season. A Saints team that has been decimated by injuries. A Saints team that has allowed the eighth-most fantasy points to defenses this season.

Considering we lost Koonce, Wilkins, Epps early our D has done ok. They haven't been giving up big scores.
Some guys looking like starters.

several defensive players will be free agents in March, so it may be high on Telesco’s to-do list to bring as many of them back as possible. Linebacker Robert Spillane has played like a star in his two seasons in Las Vegas and should command top dollars on the market.

Then, some players will finish their rookie contracts, including cornerback Nate Hobbs, safety Tre’von Moehrig, and defensive end Malcolm Koonce.

Best Players 2025 draft

CBS has Ward at 4 Sanders at 10

ESPN has Sanders at 9 Ward at 18

PFF has Milroe at 12, Ward at 14, Sanders at 21.

They'll go earlier but doesn't look very inspiring.

I am intrigued by Milord because his ceiling is incredibly high. I also think he's going to destroy the combine so he could definitely be in play for the Raiders' first round pick.

Mind you, if I was to acquire a young QB this off-season I'd be trying to get McCarthy out of Minnesota.

Milroe has declared for draft. Can run better than throw.

Las Vegas Raiders
The Raiders are currently projected to own the No. 8 overall selection after winning the past two games, likely pushing themselves out of contention to land Miami's Cam Ward or Colorado's Shedeur Sanders. However, Antonio Pierce or whoever is the head coach for Las Vegas, could be sold on the physical tools of Milroe and sit him behind a veteran signal-caller.

.........
Milroe passed for 2,844 yards with 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions last season. He also rushed for 726 yards and 20 touchdowns, leading an upset of Georgia. But the Tide finished 9-4 and failed to make the playoffs.

And around we go again. Not really a shock, but had to coach with 1 hand tied behind his back with no real QB and plenty of injuries.

Look at Detroit's injury list - it is literally longer than the Raiders.

Injuries are an excuse. And it was AP who made the decision to start Minshew. It was also AP who made countless game management errors. And lastly, if AP returned he wanted to run back the same offensive staff.

He needed to go.

Jim Harbaugh, Sean Payton and Andy Reid are the three other head coaches in the AFC West. You can't be bringing a butter knife to those fights when they've got a howitzer.

I agree he had to go, and pretty sure I was against his hire in this thread as I thought he was more a Ra Ra coach and not HC material.

Yeah I was sceptical but I also wanted him because he had the team firing on all cylinders at the end of last season, and I didn't want to just give that up.

Alas, we move on. In hindsight they should have taken a proper swing at Harbaugh.

Candidate names I expect to pop up in the coming days in no particular order:

  • Ben Johnson
  • Liam Coen
  • Mike Vrabel
  • Wes Phillips
  • Brian Griese
  • Brian Flores
  • Pete Carroll
  • Jon Gruden

Gruden! Hard to see that happening.

Ben Johnson would be a great get but I assume he will be highly sought after, especially if the Lions win it all.

Go get Kliff.

Heck no. His offense is grossly overrated. Didn't have a good staff in Arizona and was mediocre there as a head coach.

Raiders can do better, imo.

Ben Johnson will verbally agree to a deal before the Super Bowl.

I like the idea of Pete Carroll because he would be the rockstar coach they need to compete in the AFC West.

I wouldn't be surprised if Gruden gets mentioned as a serious candidate. There have been some whispers about it going back to November. Other teams are considering him, so I don't think his legal issues are a deterrent anymore. And Mark Davis loves Jon Gruden more than any other coach in the world.

Washington are electric to watch.

Their QB being the main reason.

Joe Brady?

I think if you replaced Daniels with another QB in that offense, the offense under Kingsbury would be the bottom half of the league.

Joe Brady?

Certainly had success at LSU and currently in Buffalo. Didn't work in Carolina. An intriguing name, probably not someone who would be on my headline shortlist but wouldn't be against interviewing him.

I am also skeptical of Brady, had his success working with Burrow and Allen. Life doesnt get much better than that. I also think his offense is pretty bland in Buffalo and relies a lot on Allen making shit up when things break down for passing yards.

Whoever we get we can't just keep sacking coaches after one season.
Going nowhere if we keep doing that.

Agreed.

Ultimately I think there are three things that were AP's undoing.

First one was game management. He had no idea when it came to managing games, throwing the challenge flags, situational football particularly with respect to the two minute drill, use of timeouts etc.

And in the 15 months he was coach both interim and permanent, he showed no improvement in that facet of the game despite not being a play caller. So literally on GameDay his responsibility is game management first and foremost. And one could make an argument he was worse by the end of this season in that facet than when he started.

Second is the inability for him to keep his mouth shut. The business decisions comment after week 3 was horrific to air publicly. He also has made some horrible comments about the QB play. It disgusted me that he said last week that O Connell was a starting quality QB having come off two wins, and then after the Chargers loss he said that the reason they didn't win more games this year was because of bad QB play, and intimated they'd need to upgrade that position. So he'd essentially throw his QB under the bus.

Third and last one was a desire to bring back the same staff with the Turners running the offense. He fücked up with Getsy, and bringing the Turners back would have been not much better.
