Over the news I have noticed that late season form is usually a good indicator of a team's early season form the following year.

Here is a premiership table of the last seven minor round games played by the 17 clubs.

Code:
Pos	Club P W L For Agst % PP
  1	Hawthorn 7 7 0 824 470 175.3 28
  2	West Coast 7 7 0 793 519 152.8 28
  3	Geelong 7 6 1 998 477 209.2 24
  4	Collingwood 7 6 1 830 543 152.9 24
  5	St Kilda 7 5 2 673 458 146.9 20
  6	Carlton 7 4 3 693 546 126.9 16
  7	North Melbourne 7 4 3 729 642 113.6 16
  8	Sydney 7 4 3 657 593 110.8 16
  9	Essendon 7 4 3 702 839 83.7 16
 10	Richmond 7 3 4 639 714 89.5 12
 11	Camry Crows 7 3 4 604 737 82.0 12
 12	Wstn Bulldogs 7 2 5 713 780 91.4 8
 13	Brisbane Lions 7 1 6 641 736 87.1 4
 14	Melbourne 7 1 6 571 920 62.1 4
 15	Port Adelaide 7 1 6 546 961 56.8 4
 16	Gold Coast 7 0 7 471 857 55.0 0
 17	Fremantle 7 0 7 423 770 54.9 0

Immediate analysis suggests that North's late season form shows that they could be a bit of a bolter this year. It also suggests that clubs that think they are on the rise such as Essendon, Richmond, Camry Crows and Melbourne showed very little late last year.

The biggest surprise is that it also suggests that Fremantle is going to be a big pile of steaming shit again next year.

Funny, Fremantle's 7 losses in that time, also reflect how many senior players they had available for selection most weeks.

I still don't see what this has to do with a Shit Fight though

Still looking for an angle myself Shawt. Shows Port & Adelaide are going to be crap (can not really dispute that fact). I am sure there is some further usefull stats coming.
This could be just another look at me moment from big D, the attention seeking whore.

The second part of this thread is yet to come.

Damn....Hawthorn and West Coast's finish to the year must have made us not so good then...Although i recall our last four games of the season were not too shabby!

Those bottom three clubs with low 50's percentages, almost like having three Fitzroy's in the same comp per 1996, with GWS this season there'll be a mother of all beltings i fear for 2012.

D, the thread title is horribly wrong in this instance

Why?

Let me point out an example from a couple of years prior

Port Adelaide sacked Mark Williams and then appointed Matthew Primus as caretaker

In the last 7 games of 2010 Port went 5-2

In 2011, Port were 3-19

This comprehensively proves that late season form from the previous year means jack shit

Uh yeah..... because late season games when almost half the teams know they can't make the finals so nothing is at stake are a brilliant indicator, right?

Mods please fail bin this rubbish.

That run of wins guranteed Matthew Minibus the coaching job. Even Port great (but not so great coach) Russell Ebert jumped on the Minibus bandwagon. Demanding he be appointed.

Thus ensuring we have plenty to laugh about for the next three years.
