Poor old South Perth

Lost another Premier League Grand Final yesterday (against Doubleview), making it 4 losses in a row and 5 defeats in 6 years (Considering there were no finals in 2020 it's technically 5 in a row)

Still haven't won the Saturday Division 1 flag since 1971... Not that anyone feels a slight bit of sadness for them

Have relocated back to Geelong.
Any club suggestions .

If anybody is interested Nagambie needs a coach 5,000 or more for right applicant

Plenty of clubs down this way depends on where your living etc.

I never played in a proper league .
Just bear foot style.

what area are you in?

Depends on what type of club you are after tbh, I know the coach at Leopold well and she is a state level bowler and coach and a really good egg, but they used to be an older demographic club so may not be for everyone taste.. she has done a lot of work on that though bringing in newer younger players and she is fantastic with juniors

Thier greens are very average.
The synthetic is awful.
The grass is ok but very very slow.
Thinking city at this stage

yeah Leopold are ripping up the Synthetic in the next 12 months and putting a grass green back in front of the club house as they were sold a lemon with that synthetic that was put in.

For greens I would suggest Eastern Park, or maybe Highton are pretty good from what i believe, but I also haven't played for half a dozen years so I am well out of the loop. The one near the Geelong Tennis Club actually had good greens from a tournament I played there years back, but it was a billion degrees that day so anything was quick

I would steer clear of City Of Greater Geelong as they just have 2 synthetics, and personally feel like a bit of a soulless club.
Alternately if you were up to travel a bit could go play at Ocean Grove with Matty Flapper

I’m making the move to play at Sunbury so I can play in the same rink as my daughter. It may be in Div 5 or 6 but it doesn’t bother me. Much to my surprise she decided to take up bowls and play pennant last season along with her cousin - my niece. Father-in-law is moving there for the same reason.

Thought there might have been some activity in here with many Pennant seasons underway.

Anyone catch the Bundoora V Yarraville/Footscray live stream last night?
Cameras switched to the Gary Kelly v Craig Mills rink after the Wedlock v Black rink finished.
Yarra were 8 shots up before Kelly dragged Bundy back to lead by 1 shot overall and held game with 1 Mills bowl yo play.
Mills played controlled weight through a couple of short bowls and cleaned out Kelly's shots for 3 and the overall.
One of the best finishes you'll see between 2 guns.

Perth has finally been forced into open gender Divvy 1 bowls - Been a great thrill to witness Kristina Krstic and Hailey Packer from a neighboring rink from the POV of calling a head and shot execution

Highlight thus far was a certain Ozzy Park skip (Who may or may not be a state skip for WA) getting his backside kicked by KK's rink in Round 1 and providing the comment of the season

"Can you **** off back to Tuesday pennants!"

The comment was said in jest and all parties got a good laugh

Really? Bowlsvic went through this drama about 20 years ago when I started playing. Apparently all the old boys were upset they couldn’t swear any more and had to be mindful of their humour.

What compounded the issue was in metro, there was still Tuesday Ladies only pennant but open gender on Saturdays. Now they’ve just made it midweek and Saturday pennant.

Put your best 12 or 16 on the green, whatever age, gender or ability and let them play - as it should be.

I started bowls a year or two after opening up Saturday pennant to women was implemented. Even earlier this year I heard a not so old fart say we should revert back to men only on saturdays.
Staggers me that anyone thinks that alienating woman from the game would be a positive move. We as a club would lose at least one Saturday pennant division plus female members who work who would give the game away.
Tuesday pennant after going mixed actually has another division now as well.

Warrnambool league was Saturday 5 men's divisions.
It now takes 80 women to fill all divisions due to lack of numbers .
Bowls is dying very quickly.

It's the lack of compatibility and willingness to adjust that will kill it (At least in WA)

Today at Manning we had to forfeit one of the divisions (Admittedly it was our lowest division) due to a shortage of players when he had 3 ladies who were able and willing to play...

But weren't allowed to play because they'd played one game in a higher grade on Tuesday and apparently didn't fit some criteria to play lower grade on Thursday due to that one game

So due to 3 players we've had to deny 21 other players a game

Rediculous rule, should just make it they can only play as a 2 so they dont control mat length or influence back end conversion.

Took some time for acceptance in SA. Many Men of all ages had trouble accepting that Women can do everything bar big drives.
Didnt like giving up their spot to a better player.
No sport is as great a leveller as bowls is.

In general, I find bowls administration some of the most baffling and amateurish going ‘round at times.
