LEAST deserved AA selection.....

I think players abilities in close games against high class opposition need to be taken into bigger consideration....

Leon Davis is not All Australian standard...suprisingly though, Maxwell might just sneak in on the basis that he is pretty good at playing his role (although he is definitely a poor mans Harley, who was very lucky himself to just be selected AA last year).

Can't beleive Mitch Clark was left out, he has been phenomenal.

Chapman and Stevie Johnson were both awesome at the start of the year (Stevie J was probably the best player going around after the first 13 rounds) however both have just been rested/injured since - bit lucky to gain selection, but they both are AA standard.

Akermanis probably has more rights to a forward pocket role ahead of Davis....was very good against good sides in tight situations....Davis crumbles like butter whenever the pressure is on.

Easily. He is coming 10th in the Crows board player of the year. Johncock, Rutten and Bock are better defenders. Thompson, Vince and Edwards better mids. I thought he was almost the worst pick for making the squad of 40, let alone the actual team.

Yep, so he was the token South Australian selection. That's a good nickname for him - Simon 'Token' Goodwin. Much like his token effort against Collingwood last Saturday

I wonder if Goodwin put money on himself for that selection?

I honestly can not see why Maxwell is up there. He dominated games off the HBF weather he be loose or not he was still deserving. Davis was good this year but the Porps and the Frenchman were better. The omission of Mitch Clark was a surprise as well. Goodwin starting ahead of Goddard on the field is very odd and of course Swan playing on the HFF. So my vote goes to Davis on the grounds of two players were better in that position.

How is Dal Santo not on that list.

He is still the softest footballer playing senior football today, and feeds off his team mates hard work.

He is a good outside mid, and that is all he will ever be.

At least Maxwell and Davis win their own ball and play a contested brand of football.

Has to be Davis as far as I'm concerned. In opting for Davis, the selectors have awarded the win to the 4th runner in a 3-horse race. There were two obvious candidates for the position - LeCras & Porplyzia, with Milne earning an honourable mention in 3rd place. Davis is so far behind this trio that (in racing parlance) he has yet to enter the finishing straight.

Not that I'm going to defend the selection of Goodwin either, which is clearly a dodgy decision as well.

Bolton then Goodwin. You can tell what selectors pushed their cases and got their way. Gilbert and Le Cras/Porp the stiff ones.

Davis had a better year than forward pockets but he didn't play there. Neither did Brown though. Leon got the gong as he was the best performed forward pocket "type".

Maxwell was a true dominating defender - not a seagull midfielder playing off half back. Gilbert was stiff but picking Bolton/Goodwin cost him more.

One ruck was a great call though.

Betts would've been the 4th runner so nudge Davis out to 5th.

Craig Bolton.

Had a stinker of a season... didn't even finish top 10 in Sydney's B&F.

You do relise he was killing it to about round 6? he had CHB sewn up back than by a mile but his form did drop of. It just shows the real lack of CHB.

Given that C Bolton couldnt get in the top 10 of his clubs BnF, ill say him.

Goodwin will finish in the top 3-4 of Adelaides.

Goodwin. Hasn't stood out to me all year.

Seems to be a lot of Maxwell haters here, yet when I look through the AA thread before the team was announced quite a few had him in the team ahead of Goodwin. In fact, basically nobody had Goodwin anywhere near AA. Clearly some people are just blinded by the fact that he is a Collingwood player.

Goodwin wasn't even mentioned once in the AA thread this year. Johncock and Bock were the two Crows talked up. It's like the selectors tried to fit a Crow in the team but why not pick Johncock?

B: Johncock - Scarlett - Lake
HB: Enright - Bolton - Maxwell

Already that looks better.

Reverse davis's season and he would be a monty, he was in everyones team at round 12 and some where even calling him better and more effective player than ablett(theres a thread on it) Davis played half the year in the guts and half up forward, he still managed many goals. He is in the wrong position he should be on the flank imo.

Swan should be in the midfield, kick out selwood and thats your team, lecras can go in the pocket

goodwin out goddard in the backflank then whoever you kicked (for me selwood) can go to the bench.

DONT UNDERESTIMATE LEON'S YEAR
