Agreed Ford, Kym Kinnear played well above his height and weight and could show quite a few players of today what it used to mean to pull on the PB's in the days when we had tough players all over the field and if you took on one you took on the whole team.It was in Kym's mind and nobody would dare challenge him on it. He was a scary dude. All 5'8" of him.
I can recall a game at Alberton in the late 1970's against Westies when a fairly highly credentialed ex VFL player who was around the 6' 3'' and 15 stone mark in the old money had a couple of solid cracks at him on the grandstand wing, and even though he was much smaller Kinnear gave back a lot more than he got, including a couple of well placed elbows into the bloke's ribs.
It was akin to a fox terrier taking on a much larger dog and coming out on top!
