I was just listening to SEN and Doran and Robbo, were talking about Rich, Robbo was making an argument that he is over priced at $1.01 ... i think he is right...he then mentioned Liam Anthony insinuating he is at Rich's level and if he played the first 10 games, he'd be on equal par...I agree...it's a shame that Anthony missed...

But get this

If he had'nt missed, Andrew Swallow may not have played...I love Spitzy...during the pre-season cup...my brother bumped into him at a bar in fitzroy. After my brother pumping him up as our fave player (we love the way he goes about it) he said "yeah dean will probably play me first 9 rounds and then i wont get another run again"...make of it what you will, but when Anthony got injured we thought shit, Swallow is just filling in...Im glad both boys are playing now...we are very lucky with getting Anthony in the third round.

We should probably sticky this thread in the NOT ELIGIBLE FOR RISING STAR file as it seems to be asked ever time LA plays well.

It is one thing for supporters to not know the rules, but for a sports radio station not to that is pretty disgraceful.

Liam Anthony and Andrew Swallow

i'll change the title...sorry guys.

i think it is still interesting the luck involved in both these blokes playing, as it looked likely one wouldnt at the start of the year.

Forgive me if my facts are wrong being on the other side of the world n all, but wasnt it also an injury to Hansen that lead to Grima getting a game? Injury creates opportunity or somethinglike that they say isnt it?

Re: Liam Anthony and Andrew Swallow

The fact that so many of our young players have missed out on a nomination this season is laughable. This award is a joke.

Goldstein is a $1.01 chance at the nomination this week anyway.

Word is the Jewish community will still be betting.

Re: Liam Anthony and Andrew Swallow

Who has missed out that has been very good and shown any real consistency?

Scott Thompson, Nathan Grima, Warren (missed out after a great 4 goals performance against Brisbane), Goldstein (is he still eligible? would be a chance this week), Liam Anthony (several games with more than 25 posessions in a row)

Thompson, Grima and Anthony are ineligible.

I think Taylor Walker or someone else kicked five goals the same week Warren kicked four.

Why not? What's the age limit?

Re: Liam Anthony and Andrew Swallow

Funniest thing is Derrwayne Russell mentions every week that he is surprised Liam Anthony hasn't got a Rising Star nomination yet.

And he get's paid to talk footy. What a complete tool that man is.

After each round of home and away games, a player is nominated and at the end of the season a panel of experts selects the winner.

The winner must be under the age of 21 at January 1 of that year, must not have played more than 10 games to the start of that season and must not have been suspended by the AFL or State League tribunals during the season (as with the Brownlow Medal, players found guilty of certain offences and fined or reprimanded by the Tribunal remain eligible to win the award).

goldstein will shit it in this week

ziebell and warren are still eligible for next year and they should both get one

Swallow deserved to be dropped last year more than any player in history. To his credit though, seems to have addressed his deficiences and looks a different player.

But he could not be upset about being dropped last year.
