Libba bags Campbell Rose

Rather than firing potshots at our club, Libba might like to first consider whether he is the right bloke to lead the Sunbury FC. My understanding is that there are some unhappy people around that particular club due to the amount of coin he is receiving, and what has been sacrificed around the club to squeeze him in.

By the way.... interesting point made on 3AW last night....question was asked why Libba would bother inquiring about the general manager position at the dogs when if successful he would be working closely with Campbell Rose, a bloke he clearly despises.

i have heard the same thing about sunbury and agree with second comment.

Campbell Rose has turned around the club in a time when our on field results have been terrible. Libba has really let himself down at this point in time. If truth been told, his comments are disgraceful.

Actually I disagree. the club has tried the ignore and refute approach. From David's comments (as reported) he has essentially shot down, with vigour, Libba's points that the club is in trouble under Rose.

Tough business people make tough decisions and that p*sses some people off. But the Doggies of old never won anything and have got to the stage where we rely on handouts, which means that the strategy whcih Libba supprts is one which would defintley see us go the way of Fitzroy.

personally, facts speak louder than opinions and the fact is that under |Rose and Smorgan membership is up, revenues are up, profit is up. the only thing where we haven't performed so far is on the field, but I have asneaky that that will change in 2008.

Even the USA and Iran keep some level of diologue going.
Libba shot his mouth off and Smorgan gave him a well deserved very public smack in the mouth.
We dont know if their are any extenuating circumstances.. example an underlying phycological problem
And some time in the future the club and Libba may somehow reconcile.
We cant ignore Libba played 280 odd pretty good games for the club and was a team-mate of some still current players like West, Johnson, Murphy and Hahn
It just makes it harder coming from him.

Smorgan has left the door slightly ajar. The ball's in Libba's court., however judging by his comments in the Herald Sun today it's inlikely Libba is going to back down. His loss I'm afraid although no-one ever likes to see club champions fall out with the club. Leaves a bitter taste.

I am having a hard time working out what Libba's motives were for this out-burst. What good can from a public slanging of hierachy of your former club?

I respected Libba as a player, he wasn't one of my favourites, but I respected that he got the best out of himself. He represented the club with passion on the field. He has now completely lost me.

They say time heals wounds, but I am afraid Libba has gone to far with his comments. In time Rose will be gone, but not before he has completed the job he started. He will leave the club in a far better position than when he started and for us, the members we can will be forever indebted to him for this.

This is the bit I don't understand.

Why was he on in the first place? Did he ring up SEN just to slag off Rose? Did SEN ring him to comment on some other issue and his mouth just got away from him? Was he commenting on another topic first or did he rip into Rose right off the bat?

A CEO disliked by employees that work under him, how very odd.

Right on the money. Being CEO is not a popularity contest. Cam is not out to win friends, he's out to ensure that:

a) the club doesn't fold;
b) the club is a viable and successful entity on and off the field

Libba is entitled to his opinion. I doubt it would have been anything other than water of duck's back to Cam. he's pobably been called a lot worse things and shrugged them off. For me the runs are on the board and whilst he hasn't quite scored a ton yet he's got his eye in.

To the people asking the question, what was Libba doing on SEN?

He was not on there talking about anything else, other than this topic.

As to who rang who, I don't know. But he had already done the Channel 7 interview that aired on the news later.

Either someone from SEN saw a promotion for the news, or Libba decided to ring in and use SEN to get is point across further, I'm not sure.

???
He gave him a spray on channel 7 first?

Did anyone listen to SEN this morning and did they have Doug Hawkins on? Last night they said he was going to be interviewed by the Morning Glory guys and they assumed he was likely to back up Libba. Was he on and if so, what did he say?

Media Reporter's speed dial list for a controversial stupid quote

1. Neil Harvey.........Cricket
2. Libba.................Western Bulldogs

I only heard the back end of the interview.

Hawkins was a bit miffed to why Libba had come out like he had.

He hopes that all can be worked out by Smorgo, Libba and Rose, hopefully behind closed doors.

Signed off by saying he loves Libba and he loves the club.

I would like to add my disgust at Liberatore's comments. If he genuinly feels he is doing the right thing, any future coaching opportunties are now gone as he has shown himself to be a goose. If he has an axe to grind, the petulance he has shown would make a mockery of the fact he is considered a legend of the club.

You gotta love him. Pleased to hear he didn't support Libba's position because Doug has tended to fire off a few personal grievances in the past.

Would love to know board member Sue Alberti feels about this. Sue and Libba had a great relationship during Libba's playing days and I would be interested to know how she feels about what has unfolded in the past 24hrs.

Likewise Chris Grant.

I'd actually be more interested in what the other members of the old "wog squad", Romero and Dimma have to say. One was a bulldogs board member, whilst the other has been pretty forthright in his views of the club in the past.

Libba is pretty chummy with Nath Brown and Darc as well.

Remember when Libba, Ellis, Brown and Darcy were unaccounted for in New York on the morning of 9/11 and there was a bit of a panic because one of them told someone back here that they were going to the World Trade Centre to visit Darcy's sister in law at work. But she phoned Darc the night before and said she was sick and to put it off until the day after...what a break

Libba chummy with Nathan Brown! Well that says it all.

At least you've done well with one thing Libba, your sour grapes have galvanised support for the club and it's CEO like no other could have! Talk about backfire.

Dogupya - perfectly said.

Fred Cook - spot on. Smorgo has just lost the love of his life. Ros loved the club and he would be speaking on her behalf as well. Not to mention that one of the initial stages of grief is anger, so Libba has really picked a great moment (not).

northbhouy - delusional. I think you are living a bit of a fantasy thinking "hey, if the doggies are dragged down, the kangaroos problems won't seem so devastatingly bad. And maybe we won't end up in Sydney/Canberra/Glasgow (insert preferred city here)" and hoping that your comments will add to us falling apart. IT'S DONE EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE!! We have all banded together after hearing this crap - it's great!

I am sure getting behind closed doors and rapping with Libba is the last thing of interest to Smorgon at the moment, he's got enough on his plate.

Liberatore remains a great ex-player and am important part of our history. Like Dougie, he's just struggling to stay relevant. Time will pass and he'll be welcomed back.

I hope not. I think his comments are bitter sour grapes and ex-champ or not if he truly cared for the club he would have gone about it in a different way. He's plumping for an agenda, whether that is backed by "silent" others or whether he's done it off his own back I don't know and don't care. You air dirty linen especially when what you're saying lacks substance and is based on "heresay".
