**** it - live life

The LID is blown right off

Spent 7 years watching more losses than won - it’s time to enjoy the moment and what’s ahead

The lid is not off because of our recruits, it’s off because all the boats are rising as one

Rankine
RT
Fog
Soligo
Rachelle
Maxy
Worrell
Murray

These 8 players have done the work and are all rising as one

2017 still crushes the soul every time I think about it. The lid stays on until, well, until it physically won't go back on.

sigh

That's just me, though. Negative Nelly, I am not. The cautious optimist - probably doesn't describe me either, to be fair! 😂

I think we'll either finish top 4 or go very close (home final, within a game or so of top 4). Not sure we can win a flag though. Not sure if that means the lid is on or off...

JUNE PREMIERS!
R12,13 and 14 we play Syd, Lions and Hawks respectively.

We truly will know then where we stand in 2025.

However lets not forget after R14, the Lions were well and truly sitting out of the 8 in 13th and won the flag.

For the record after R14, Swans, Blues, Pies and Dons were in the Top 4. We need that to sink in.

We’ve been error prone, shaky with our defensive kicks even under no pressure, fumbly at times and while half the time we look excellent in transition other times we’re falling over ourselves and the ball. The lid is on. We have heaps of things to work on.

Lid was off after reading Bigman’s training reports.

I threw a decent amount on Crows for the flag at $21 before the season fully expecting to cash out when the odds improved (which they had).

We always had a great forward line and backline, our midfield was just terrible. Thankfully we finally addressed this. Couple that with no real powerhouse teams… why can’t we compete?

Screw making finals. I think we’ll can give it a real shake this year. It does depend on injuries but it’s looking good so far.

I live overseas and I’m already planning a work trip so I can get to Australia in September… just in case.

Not to worry. I'm going overseas for 6 weeks, so I'll miss everything from the Collingwood game through to the bye, which includes those Syd, Lions and Hawks games.

After sitting through 7 years of utter trash from this club, I fully expect us to go on an absolute tear while I'm away and unable to attend or watch the games. So expect us to put all 5 of those teams to the sword, then crash and burn upon my return to ultimately finish 9th and miss finals on percentage :p

It's definitely exciting to see how much we have improved, and we are playing a very good and enjoyable style to watch.

However, we beat St Kilda and Essendon - 2 teams that I think will be bottom 6.

I'm also not convinced our mids are ready for the best teams. I think we still get beaten too easily in clearances. I don't think we can afford for that to happen when we play the best teams - Brisbane, Geelong, Sydney etc...

Are we better? Absolutely.
Are we good? Probably yes
Are we a contender? I don't think so.

Won't stop me enjoying the season though.
