Lining up for MCC

Hey, just a quicky, what time do people think I should line up for MCC? I went at 6am last year and got good seats about 10 rows back on bottom level, but I hear that sometime tonight is a MUST to even get in!

I got a few groups of mates going, 1 at 12am tonight and another at 2am?
Anyone else a MCC member and planning on lining up?

What the **** are you ment to do to try and get sleep if you get there at 12am. FFS, unless you are sitting next to Ben Cousins you wont be able to watch the game as your eyelids will weigh 20 kg each.

It is pretty much a camp session.

Just go in the morning at crack of dawn, there will be plenty in front of you but there will be plenty behind you as well.

Yeah, I think I'll stick to the original plan. Can't be arsed standing for 7 hours. I'd be happy with standing room. Just want to get in there, get my ticket then bugger off home for a few hours sleep.

There is no way there'll be 10,000 before at least 8am tomorrow. A lot of people will talk it up, and there's always the hardcore extremist few (who are there already), but not that many people are actually silly enough to spend all night standing in the cold to end up getting a seat three rows closer to the action than they will get if they turn up at a decent hour.

Trust me, get some sleep tonight so you can actually enjoy the game, then turn up about 7am or so and you'll be fine. Thats what I'm doing.

Last year it didn't fill but that was on the back of the Preliminary Final debacle and and interstate Grand Final team.

How strict are they at checking member passes on the day? A friend has offered me her pass (she is a full member) and isn't going. What are my chances at getting checked?

Mate, you'll be right to get in, but they may come and check your ticket once you're in. Just be wary. If you get a pass out, you have to enter and show your members card, so you won't be able to leave and come back.

As we are talking about MCC, when are new members issued? I think I was registered in 1994, maybe 1995 (argh I hope not!).

Hmm disagree with poster above who said you could get in. Of all days, GF is the day they'll be checking them. Good luck if you give it a crack, but just remember if you do try it and get caught your friend risks expulsion, worth the risk?

I'll be there with some mates at 5.30am.

I've done a couple of early mornings outside the MCC since the new stand was completed and have noticed that the hard-core early-birds towards the front all race to Level-1 when the gates open leaving plenty of room on the Ground Level for those further back to gradually fill up. There have been numerous seats unclaimed near the fence unclaimed up to an hour after the gates opening. However, things will probably be a little more hectic tomorrow given that two Vic sides are playing.

Depends; there is no age limit on being a full member at all; however depends when you were on the waiting list. They are slowing down - now moving it 3 months at a time for Full (Feb. 1988) and one month for Restricted (Oct. 1994).
