It's funny though with good players out how some teams seem to go better. Others players lift..

Remember when Rance went down and all the experts said well they can't win the flag now . GWS today had a few missing and played better in my view.

Yes - GWS and Richmond both bat deeper than us.

If we were missing those three from the prelim, our ins would've been a fair step below.

Don't agree at all . We earnt the home finals. Collingwood were really ordinary today, the conditions would've suited us.

We were clearly good enough and didn't quite get there . We could've easily won by a couple of goals last week . That's football.

I've read what you said about last week and while I agree in parts you underestimate the random crap that happened to us ,some of it self inflicted.

Unfortunately we played the Tigers twice in a row and spent a few tickets . No reason why we aren't the second best team.

It is what it is ,played two ,lost two , hopefully we learn without mental damage.

I think we essentially agree? I never said we didn't earn our games at home, I said we lost them.

I just do not get why anyone would want to torture themselves or others by hypothersising that we missed out on a GF or something along those lines in light of today's result? GWS beat us then beat them, we arnt GWS. We lost 2 games at home, haven't won at the G in God knows how long and haven't got any finals experience and the Pies have a great recent history againts us.

I'm not saying we suck, I'm saying we are exactly where we are supposed to be, just short of being a genuine contender.

We were great last week, super proud, content with how it all went.. its just IMO.. there is nothing out there in the universe that rationally suggests this finals series was the 'grand final that went begging' based on anything that occurred or didn't occur.

Yeah sure.

I'm not torturing myself ,not going on about a grand final that went begging , simply stating that under normal circumstances we should've won last week ,we blew it ,and I reckon we would've made a great fist of it today.

Just my opinion. As part of the usual analysis you would do after any match. It's no big issue. It's how I see it ,as I'm sure would many others.

While it would have been great to play in the GF and very enjoyable to have beaten the Pies to get there (bonus for a winning final at the MCG) I am not sure I would have enjoyed fronting up against the Tigers for the third time in five games for what would most likely have been three losses with a battered and weary young team. Games like 119 can get stuck in your psyche...

We were half out of juice once we won the 9 in a row I reckon . But we never gave up in any subsequent game and sometimes all it takes is a win to get you going again. As has been shown by GWS .

I agree we blew it, handing GWS an extra goal in the opening minute, letting the ball bounce through for a goal in the 3rd without any defender touching it, just those little moments was the difference in the game, a win last week would have given the boys a lot of belief to give Collingwood a good shake today but it’s all history now.

We also went down by 4 goals twice againts GWS. Whilst a few things didn't go our way, we can't expect luck to be in your side when you chase their tail for the entire contest.

They also repelled the pies for 9 minutes at the end of the game, just like they did us. This indicates to me it was less of us not getting the job done and more of them getting the job done.

The two errors I highlighted against GWS were more to do with skill and composure rather than luck. We got our fair share of umpiring love/free kicks/luck on that night so no qualms whatsoever there. I felt that in that last quarter, Fages just had to send a runner out to stop the boys from keep bombing the ball in the forward 50 for GWS to intercept, just needed to setup play a bit better but then again Pies did the same so give credit where it’s due. Live and learn!

Yeah my comment was more in addition to you post. Agreed with your sentiment in a general sense.

Danger or Fyfe to win from here I think.....

It's really funny how the umps started voting for Lachie once he started getting some press about how well he was going.

I saw some of the Freo games that Fyffe got BOG in and it was plainly ridiculous . He was good but.....

Only going from memory here but didn't Fyfe get injured early in our game against Freo?

The one where Walters tore us a new one and won the game after the siren for them?

Yet Fyfe got the 3 votes for the game:huh:
