If the Australian map wasn't there it would be very boring.

Also, map with the BHP reminds me of Bluescope Steel.
BlueScope were a spin off of BHP, so that makes sense. I looked up BHP today and was actually surprised at how many companies they've spun off over the years. There's a glut of household names.

Hey lads,
So, as very few of you may know, I decided to create a new logo for my band Knight Over Day, as a couple of members left and one of them designed the old one.
I got some advice through one of the more experienced FJGD posters, and it was a big help, so that legend knows who they are :) *coughchoochoocough*

Anyway, here is my finalised graphic for Knight Over Day:

Thoughts?
There's a couple of little meanings/puns in there that I've tried implementing. Can anyone spot them all? One hint is: :crescentmoon:

This is no where near a professional logo (for an actual company/team), but here is a bit of history of a logo you all seen but may not know why it is used,

As I just said, I am sure you have seen the logo I use across all of my designs and avatars, many have even commented that it is used too much, well that logo, and it's several variants is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. So here is the history of that design and why I use it everywhere.

It all began in a kitchen classroom back in 1997. I was in year 7 and had a free period. Unfortunately for us as we were still too young to apparently be allowed to sit in the free period shelter we were placed in that classroom. The funny thing was that though we were supervised we were not given any actual work to do so while being bored for the full 80 minutes of that particular period (yes we had four 80 minute periods at my school, which was good for PE, Science and all the classes that were fun, it was horrible for anything that was boring or where you had nothing to do). So what did I decide to do in that time, well I chose to see how I could combine my initials into a baseball style logo (like the St. Louis or New York designs). My main problem was that unlike many, for just my first and last names I have 4 letters (CDDS) which made the combining of them quite difficult. However after a few tries I noticed that I could combine the shape of the C and D to form the shape of an S, adding two lines to the bottom half giving the impression of two D's within the S. So I scribbled this design down on a scrap of paper slowly refining it during that period and by the end of the 80 minutes I had created a symbol that has continued with me since then (it has not only appeared on my designs, but on every writing book I have used at school, TAFE, and university, as well as at work).

Then either late in 1997 or in 1998 I first digitised it. This logo seen below was rough and used a very bright red and blue (I no idea how to use colours at that time) but this logo continued with me until around 2003/04 where it evolved into the second logo you see, which was a stolen dragon image that looked like an S and was able to be edited in a graphics program (Paintshop Pro), the logo removed the blue and brought in a black background. This logo lasted until 2008 before I got bored with it and again moved on (it was rarely used so it took a while).

The third logo in the history reverted back to a look that was far closer to the original drawing and brought in a phoenix to the mix as at that time I felt that this symbol made sense to my life (really there wasn't much of a renewal going on, but at the time it made sense). The logo ended up featuring shades of red, orange and yellow and lasted for around a year.

2009 brought the return of the red and blue. The original logos colours were chosen due to their contrast, where as the new one was done as my favourite colour is purple and the split in the colours represented the history of the design as well as being the split of purple into it's base colours (if I remember correctly purple did feature in the early renderings but was dropped). The red and blue were darkened for the logo. The ends of the logo were partially an evolution of the previous logo, but were mostly used because I love the TV show Stargate SG-1 and the logo for the character Anubis looked awesome so I used it. Again this logo lasted for around a year.

When I started really getting into design and self branding the 5th logo came into existence, this one again featured the red and blue but this time the colours were reversed and again slightly darkened. This logo is probably the one that shows off the C and D's more than any other. This logo was a survivor compared to the previous two and lasted until 2012.

2012 brought about a drastic change in the design and the colours used. I had again grown bored with the design I was using and wanted something new. So I went for the complete opposite and made it very abstract. The colours were also a massive departure from the previous with a dark blue, light blue and lime green brought into the design. This came about during an assignment that I had at TAFE where I had to redesign a website for a fake community centre. This centre was in a fictional Australian town which happened to be named after the original name for the city of Vancouver. Through researching this and trying to come up with a design I stumbled across the colour scheme and ran with it for the website. At the same time I was working on the new logo and had fallen for the colour scheme so ended up using it.

Finally in 2016 I had begun to tire of the abstract logo as it was not as functional as I wanted. I tried several different looks but could not come up with anything that I really liked. So for the first time I outsourced the design. Knowing that Freight Train was pretty decent at designing logos I asked him to give it a go. After sending me a logo that honestly looked like a battery, he came back with the current design including the modified colours. At first I was unsure about it, but within a couple of hours I had fallen in love with the simplicity of the design while also being a perfect link to the history of the design. I guess that I was lucky that I wasn't paying for it and Freight Train didn't put in too much effort as it ended up working perfectly. Since then it has been used on all my designs and in my avatars, but it has also evolved slightly to now no longer feature just a single set of colours. It is now used in any colour variant I want and is capable to doing the job that I want it to do in any size, which none of the old designs really were able to do.

So here is to the 20 years of my personal logo, and I cannot wait to see what happens in the next 20.

I meant as in a logo for a proper company/team, or a Professional group, rather than a professionally designed logo for a non company/team.
