They should go straight for the jugular, bidding for the Olympics again.
The way the Olympics are going at the moment, Melbourne would do quite well I think and not leave behind a lot of mess like Rio etc. We have a lot of the required stadium infrastructure already and in decent nick (upgrades would be required of course) so it shouldn't cost a stupid amount. Main thing is a village.

Simonds Stadium is the only regional stadium that could potentially host major events. It's definitely an awkward bid and I can guarantee it won't be accepted.
Simonds Stadium is chosen to host Sevens
  • Aquatics including Para-Swimming Events – Greater Bendigo Indoor Aquatic Leisure Centre
  • Athletics including Para-Athletic Events – Shepparton Sports Precinct at a new stadium
  • Badminton – Ballarat Badminton Centre
  • Boxing – Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports and Entertainment Complex in Traralgon
  • Hockey – Geelong Stead Park Hockey Centre
  • Lawn Bowls including Para-Lawn Bowls – Shepparton Park Bowls Club
  • Netball – Ballarat Sports and Events Centre
  • Men's and Women's Rugby 7's – Simonds Stadium – Geelong
  • Squash – Shepparton Sports Stadium
  • Weightlifting and Para-Powerlifting – Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports and Entertainment
  • Men's Basketball – Shepparton Sports Stadium
  • Women's Basketball – Bendigo Stadium
  • Road Cycling – Warrnambool and Port Campbell
  • Mountain Bike Cycling – Mount Buller
  • Track Cycling – Bendigo's Tom Flood Centre
  • Diving – Greater Bendigo Indoor Aquatic Leisure Centre
  • Gymnastics – Geelong Convention Centre
  • Rowing – Lake Nagambie
  • Sailing – Lake Mulwala, Yarrawonga
  • Tennis – Wodonga Lawn Tennis Centre
  • Triathlon – Victoria Park Lake, Shepparton

If what I read was correct, it's a powerplay by Shepparton. They are the key stakeholder in this bid, and they propose getting a new stadium out of it so they can host the Aths. Isn't there an already built stadium that they could have the Ceremony and Aths; Kardinia could work as the venue, and move the seven elsewhere.

They could also use Eureka Stadium

Can someone redo the rfc logo so it uses the new puma yellow?

Curious what it would look like as our kit and our logo currently differ on tge shade of yellow used

Should not happen. At all.

Will be a terrible experience for tourists who come over to see the Games having to travel hundreds of KMs to see different events.

Keep it in the one city.

How have Carlton not just done this yet? They're going into their 3rd season using the old monogram on the jumpers now! It creates a really annoying inconsistency in their brand

Disagree. Carlton is a club with enough history to get away with it. No worse than Brisbane having a different lion on their jumper and logo, or Geelong having a professional and general logo.

While I disagree with the inconsistency, we don't really have any other option, unless we were to redo the logo entirely to match THAT monogram.. It's too bulky and not refined enough for a logo..

The one KDY2 posted fits quite nicely

It just doesn't look as classy as the other one. The extra stuff around the modern CFC was made to fit with that, so we would need another version to fit with the heritage one..

The monogram on the jumper is just that, the best the knitters could do way back when. It isn't an official logo, but a handmade attempt at what the logo looked like.

its pathetic- they are trying to have athletics at a small stadium in shepperaton for example. if it does become successful i rekon they would move some events to melbourne
In what way is it pathetic? This is the Commonwealth games we're talking about, the average crowd size is about 2. If it was held in Melbourne, no one would give two shits. This will give a bit of a boost to regional economies, it doesn't hurt anyone.

The Commonwealth Games is the third biggest multi sporting event in the world behind the Olympics and the Asian Games. It is massive for everyone that has the games. With the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games- tickets are going to be red hot even in a 40,000 seat Metricon Stadium. If there is a MAJOR stadium only hosting 10,000 at tops then the games wont be able to to get the most fans as possible to come.
