Re: Flags with logos at the Chargers Qualcomm Stadium is it a bad thing?

I don't think anyone should have to justify to others who they support and why, and where they live in relation to what sports or teams they follow.

This is truth.......

..... except for Raiders fans.

Re: Flags with logos at the Chargers Qualcomm Stadium is it a bad thing?

The Falcons don't do this but FSU and UGA both have flags up at their stadium with the names (no logos) of the other members of their conference, ACC and SEC respectively.
In the same token, I wouldn't have a problem with the Falcons having members of their division only up at the Dome (Saints, Panthers, Bucs) to display their division membership.
No big deal imho.

Re: San Diego Chargers Thread

Pressure is right on Norv Turner and his merry men. Should waltz in the division and most likely get first round bye. Being a Chargers fan, you ought to consider reaping the opportunity on making yourself a profit on the side LWP.

Only have to log on a couple times a week to submit your picks & 3XKO.
Can't see your team letting you down. Have a go and get involved in the AE (Armchair Endzone). Best NFL Tipping comps on Big footy that rewards real winners.
We have a couple guys from North America involved and having a representative from the West coast would be ace. Find out more about this on the AE thread.

Re: San Diego Chargers Thread

I can't see us not winning the Superbowl this year, fairly weak opposition in our division and we may only be challenged by the Pat's. LT will become MVP again, Merriman will lead the league in sacks, Cro will lead the league in interceptions, Weddle will be the standout Safety in the comp, Cason will be Defensive ROTY and the list goes on

"Can't see us not winning the Superbowl this year"

:D

Charger fans getting excited.. I wouldn't be so confident given you haven't even won a superbowl in your teams history. No doubt you're a big chance but just steady on ;)

In the NFC you'd be close to the favourites but unfortunately, or fortunately, this is the AFC. Teams like the Pats, Browns, Steelers, Colts, Jags and even the Jets (and hopefully Broncos) could challenge the Chargers.

Lol, you're worse than some of the Essendon fans on here.:p

Re: San Diego Chargers Thread

I'm interested to see how Cromartie stands up as the starter this season. I see him as arguably 'the' key to ultimate success, because their frail secondary is an area that has always held them back IMHO.

Made a lot of big plays last season as a limited downs/second string corner and without the burden of guarding any dangerous recievers. When he was moved to starter late in the year facing opposing QB's main targets, his man coverage skills were pretty raw.

Thought he was a tad overhyped last year, but nevertheless very impressive. If Cromartie can take that next step and become a better shutdown guy as well as a great playmaker, behind that pass rush then watch out, the missing piece in the puzzle may be in place.

Re: San Diego Chargers Thread

Cason was an important addition and by all accounts is playing well..

I dunno but they seem to be stagnant atm... Not much changing over the field with few reasons to think they will now easily account for all those before them...

Reckon they can go far but IMO Jags have surpassed them a bit unless LdT has another blitzer and his knee doesn't trouble him...
IMO
Pats
Chargers/Jags

Re: San Diego Chargers Thread

no charger fan has yet to make reference to the offensive and defensive lines. its all well and good to have rivers, LT, Cromartie, Merriman on the roster......but they're useless without the exceptional play of the men in the trenches.

That offensive line that gave Brady a vacation in the pocket at NE last year. The Giant defensive line that pressured offenses towards the end of last season.

Not saying the Bolts dont have the personnel in this dept. But fans need a bit of perspective. Win in the trenches, win the game.

Re: San Diego Chargers Thread

The Chargers are a franchise that will win the AFC West for 10 years, but the Raiders are the franchise that will win Superbowls in that 10 years.

Raiders are still run as a 70's Franchise with outdated thinking from their owner.

Just like their team, Oakland is probably the dullest part of C.A.

Agreed wholeheartedly mcgarnacle.

Very much the barometer of what makes a team tick. The penalty factor also determines the displine of a team which is vital to success. Half the reason why the G-Men are the reigning champs is the combination of the two points I've added to mcgarnacle's points. Then there is the turnover aspect which the Chargers really are solid. You've given a few good points for thought mcgarnacle...and in saying that, I think the Jets are ready to take flight and challenge the AFC heavyweights this season. My darkhorse for the SB is indeed, the J-E-T-S. :thumbsu:

Will your AE tipping match this prediction?:p
The AFC East is all fun and games till the ride actually begins;)

As for SD's season, my prediction is clouded with disco music......

Re: San Diego Chargers Thread

Surprised there aren't more Chargers fans here. In Rivers, LT, Cromartie, Gates & Merriman, they have the most talented list in the NFL.
Will this be the year a San Diego franchise breaks it's hoodoo of not having won a national title?

That much talent and they wound up playing "Martyball." Going to take Norv a few years to shake that crap out of them.

Re: San Diego Chargers Thread

I've enjoyed watching the Chargers in recent years. Loved that they gave up Brees but I'm not a fan of Rivers. Can play no doubt, but he's a bit of a dick. Love their D, Merriman is fun to watch, and how could you not love Gates? Great player.

the loss of rivers and LT didnt hurt the chargers in the divisional play-off against the Colts last year as the big men did their job. :thumbsu:

and what about Darren Sproles. 5'6" and he lights it up whenever he gets the ball. The opposing D-Lines prolly cant see him behind the big run-block of the charger O. and i still have those two TD runs from kick-off and punt against Indy last season at Qualcom burned into my memory.

check them out......

and with regards to the Jets.....not getting excited about the post-season yet....plenty of football to be played between now and then. but yes, Tangini have boosted the personnel in the right areas. :thumbsu:

Re: San Diego Chargers Thread
