Re: San Diego Chargers Thread

Will your AE tipping match this prediction?:p
The AFC East is all fun and games till the ride actually begins;)
roller-coaster-2.jpg

As for SD's season, my prediction is clouded with disco music......

That's a fair comment Galactic. Keep watch of how I go in rating the J-E-T-S this season. I'm quite sure I'll be the AE type of tipster like the troopers toward the back of this rollercoaster.. >> hands up and ride with it, hoping everything stays on track << which is a great analogy to how reactions change with turbulent results.

The burning question for you is how OVERLY CONFIDENT you'll be with the Pats even though their D is sounding creaky. Week 2 will be a humdinger!!

Re: San Diego Chargers Thread

My boys the Chargers should have a good year. Hopefully!

Im the biggest Chargers fan in melbourne I think. Tomo (thats my nickname for Tomlinson, its a thing we have) should be outstanding yet again.

Hmmm, no mention on your 'other teams listing' NO Chargers avatar either?

But you found the 'thread on BF' to make the claim, so I'll give ya that.
You know it's almost time to get involved, lewisalloverit. We could do with a Chargers fan who has some fabric about himself.. willing to take on the clan of relentless Raider fan already lining up to claim some serious coin.

Total over confidence or high expectations? either way I pick a 13-3 season at this point. The creaky D? More like the questionable D. Lots of ??? from the LB's and DB's except Harrison ect. With a positive offseason and a balance of young talent and veterans, I am confident in a bend but don't break kind of philosophy. The offense on the other hand I do expect lots of scoring, but not the record breaking kind like last year. Have you ever watched the steelers beat a team 52-7?If not I'm telling you now, its really easy to get OVERLY CONFIDENT;)

Wiping the floor with the Browns 41-0 and 43-0 is as good as it gets. :)

Re: San Diego Chargers Thread

Pats will be like 88' 49er's, 87' 49er's lost Divisional game against Vikings after having the best record in the NFL. Walsh was furious.

Best QB in Bradley (49er's had Montana/who had a starting war with Young in 88') and best WR in Moss (49er's had Rice just starting) and had an up and down start and dominated in the playoffs.

If you're a NFL fan get your hands on the DVD "America's Game", absolutely superb production.

Bradley:confused:

.......and if what you predict actually happens to the Patriots 08 then maybe we could do in 09 what the Baltimore Colts did in 69/71;)

That would be really creepy:D

Far, quit while you're ahead... or you know, quit while you're so far behind you'll never catch an intelligent human being...

Like a rock,
like a planet,
Like a ****ing atom bomb,
I'll remain unperturbed by the joy and the madness
that i encounter everywhere I turn
I've seen it all along
In book and magazines
like a twitch before dying
like a pornographic sea
there's a flower behind the window
there's an ugly laughing man
like a hummingbird in silence
like the blood on the door

Re: San Diego Chargers Thread

Just heard today Shawne Merriman is suffering a torn PCL. He is going for a second opinion. If this is true, thats a massive setback for the chargers. As much as I hate him, he makes everyone around him better.

Merriman is exploring options. Former players are telling him to get the sx, which would put him on shelf for part or all of '08.
This is a bad blow, but they do have some depth and will still win that woeful division by 4 games.

In other Merriman news, AJ SMith, GM for SD, has said the team will NOT try to re-sign Merriman. Stupid move. He is young and the closest thing we've seen to LT, since, well, LT. (For those of you thinking LaDanian Tomlinson, STOP. Lawrence Taylor, HoF LB for NYGs)
Makes no sense...but Chargers think there are other, more crucial players to resign....Phllip Rivers being one of them. I get that, but outside of LT, the present day LT, Merriman is the best player on their team.

Fine, perhaps my 49ers will make the move and bring him in....He and Patrick Willis will terrorize offenses for years to come.

Shawne Merriman may miss season :(

Just read on nfl.com that he has two torn ligaments in his left knee and has been told by doctors that he could suffer a possible career-ending injury if he attempts to play without having surgery.

This is terrible news and defently will hurt the chargers this season.

Don't get me wrong, I think this hurts the Chargers but does anyone else think they probably won't miss a beat if he is out. I've got them penned down for 13 wins this year and figure they have so many playmakers on both sides of the ball they can quite comfortably cover.

A huge loss.... BUT this team is loaded with big time players. Even looking scary at WR now when you look at Chambers and Jackson... big year for Rivers.

This has got to be some kind of template to bring a franchise to the top.

as per Merriman thread.

Re: Shawne Merriman may miss season :(

That's why some of us were smart enough to draft Anthony Waters in their dynasty leagues (Ignoring the fact that Waters is more inside compared to Merrimans outside).

I feel it will set them back a little bit, but as mentioned if Rivers can be a little more productive with his receivers, then they should be able to cover if their defense isn't quite as good.

Re: Shawne Merriman may miss season :(

Best news I have heard in a long time, I hate him and I have never liked him because of being a drug cheat.

ull miss Umenyiora more than we will miss merriman

Re: Shawne Merriman may miss season :(

Osi got injured because he had to carry the extra weight from that fat superbowl ring...what's Merrimans excuse?

U dont wear the ring while u play so that cudnt be the case
