Losing LeCras could make us better

Our zone looked pretty good whilst Lecca was still there.

The funny thing about yesterday's game IMHO is that Lecca looked most effective in the midfield yesterday. Hopefully Kerr comes back and makes a good replacement in the middle... and our make do fwd line (while Lecca was still on the ground) with Ebo and Nickoski works?

You rekon?

I am sure I saw him miss quite a few targets, I was suprised as I was happy when he had the ball but he stuffed up a few times.

Lecra has declared he may only miss 6 weeks as the injury was not as bad as they thought.

Souce: sports news first

Actual Source was the Channel 10 news and an interview with Katie Price.

Hagdorn is just quoting that interview and breaking it as news.

So with the bye, he will only miss 5 games :D

I just hope we dont rush him back. Unless on some miracle we a 6-0 and look like a top 4 side ;p

Agree with the common sentiment that we'll struggle without Lecca, at least initially, but it could definitely improve us long term.

You only have to look at the Saints and Riewoldt last year.. from memory they were terrible the first week or two he was out, and then all of a sudden went on a massive winning streak. In fact when he returned I think they struggled to adjust again to only having one primary target.

The highest scoring teams in the comp spread the load - look at Collingwood. If Kennedy/Darling/Nicoski/Naitanui/Ebert/Hams/Strijk/Weedon can all contribute their fair share over the coming weeks we'll be all the better for it when Lecca returns.

Shame Neates is injured!

it seems he has set the essendon game as his return -which is very apt!

re the thread title: if the port game was anything to go by, we appear at this VERY early stage, to be able to cope and kick goals without Lecras, and our forward setup seems to have improved,as some suggested!? it makes sense after all..on the flipside if we're too Lecras conscious upfront, that is limiting our full potential..and easier for the opp.to shutdown(?)-essendon aside.

also Lecca says he may be returning to the midfield more, which i find exciting,i know others disagree..it really lifts and strengthens our midfield, plus he can still shoot on goal..and we now appear to have a spread of goalkickers, with 2 prominents in kennedy+darling..this year could give us some real excitement. (contained enthusiasm of course).
