Expansion Lowest finals crowd since WW1...

Expected.
6th year in foreign territory
One of the biggest western Sydney leagues clubs playing in their 1st home final for a long time next door.
Playing a team from the other side of the country.

Would of been nice to get a sellout but we are growing our base not just taking other clubs fans.

Was always generational

How much longer do these low numbers persist?

Don't think they'll ever get a full house at Spotless even if they win the next 10 premierships

24,000 capacity so I'll be lenient and say 23,900 won't happen for a very long time
21,790 was the crowd number between the Giants and Bulldogs in last seasons prelim.

Look if it were 17-18K it'd be fine/expected. Like it's AFL in Western Sydney so it's never going to be huge unless Derby...but it's finals time. So it should be a fair crowd but obviously compared to the traditional states still small - which is okay.

But what was alarming was that this was 1K LOWER than the same matchup between these teams at the same venue literally a month ago. Sure there was NRL and Matildas in Western Sydney today too. But like I said, it's finals and no excuse for going lower than the regular season matchup.

Was a poor crowd. In context two sydney nrl finals only got 15k as well last week.

Still have faith we will get 20k average crowds at spotless in the not too distant future though.
Western Sydney is a tough sporting market to get a foothold in for an unfamiliar game for the locals.

I just knew this thread was going to have been created by one of the bottom 4 Melbourne clubs (based on support) or a fan of Tasmania getting a team.

Either way it is a stupid thread because GWS are 5 years old, and they are aiming to get new young fans. Those young fans, lets say they were 6 in 2012, will not be even able to go to games by themselves for another 6 years at least.

I raised it as a discussion point, I don't really care about GWS that much. So we should be expecting them to sell out Spotless in 2025?

In 2025 I think it is reasonable to expect GWS to be averaging about 18,000 over the course of a season, and that number is higher than pretty much any Sydney based NRL club.
