Jimmy isnt slow.....im just saying collingwood dont need this type of player.

Im not getting personal but O'Bree isnt up to AFL standards and i dont think Luke Ball is either. Its just another excuse to have Didak on the outside rather than the inside.

So every player needs to play inside? Of course we'd prefer Didak on the outside, why wouldn't you, his skills are is best asset. It is like ripping on SJ because he isn't get enough hardball... It is just stupid.

O'Bree has played AFL for 10 years, your argument is pretty much defunct. His skills aren't great, but he has easily been our best clearance player for a while now, and yes we certainly do need this type of player.
Purely for argument sake, have a stab at what Ball ran the 20m in.

Ok, the real question is which Club will Ball go to besides the Pies?

The Pies won't offer a decent deal (just read the rubbish that Pies fans have written in this thread already) which is why they never landa big fish in trade deals.

The PR just states that the Pies were nominated as his preferred Club. Once that fall through his REAL next Club will come through.

Which Club will it be?

Dont take PotShots at J.Bartel

This is a brownlow medallist we are a talking about and is far and away the best overhead marking midfielder in the competition. Jimmy has more strings to his bow than Luke Ball ever will.

And he can kick over 40m on a good track!

Stop posting, srsly

I wish him well. Seems like a good guy. Can play, but he needs to address the issues that hinder his kicking penetration. I agree that his pace is a bit of a concern, but there has to be a place for him in AFL football. he is good enough.

I love the headlines that are possible though. What about:

St Kilda's Ball pops out - Pies opt not to touch it.

Jolly and Ball would plug some gaping list holes, so I'd be stoked with both.

Still doesn't change the lack of an A+ superstar match-winner. Davis, Didak are too inconsistent. Pendles, Swan are honest, regular, but neither are going to snatch a game for you like a Riewoldt or Goodes can. Fevola is who you need. You should give whatever you need to to get him. You have a good history of changing blokes after Shaw and Didak in 2008.

Totaly devistated. :(

I know lukey would not just walk for nothing, i suspect his contract offer was a piece of shit.

Good luck Bally

What the **** is your point??

why are you trying to stir the pot? there is no need for that.

Spot on. My Bad.

However, i just can't see the value of Luke Ball. Even on Grand Final day i thought Armitage would hve been a better choice. The games gone past him and Shane Obree.

There is still a place in modern football for a player who is not quick, but is able to get into packs and extract the ball. After all, one of the most important stats the Saints monitored this year were contested possessions. Ball's problem is his disposal, but it's not too bad and I think he'd make a useful contributor at a number of clubs. First round is rather optimistic though given what the Saints have indicated they think of him - least TOG in the GF.

This thread title is yet another argument as to why proper English is actually useful...

balls value has dropped dramatically this season. the fact he was struggling to be in st kildas 22 is a perfect example.

i think ball for a 2nd rounder + wellingham (although i think wellingham is a great prospect at collingwood) would quite EASILY get the deal done

Those suggesting he is worth atleast Collingwoods 1st round pick are off their nuts. Who cares where he was drafted in the so called super draft. It is totally irrelevent. He is 25 going on 40 and struggles to kick 40m thanks to his shit groins.

I will bet my bf life that he will not fetch a 1st round pick, if anyone is keen to take the risk?

Thanks for your concern.

I think our list id coming along nicely, for what it's worth.

Youngest list in the top 4, etc.

You'd give your left nut for any of the players you mentioned above you've mentioned at Norf.

Who the fecks Cook?

Ball had 22 touches, of which half were contested in 46% game time in the GF.

It was probably his best game for us all year.

Games passed him by?

Agree. The GF was his best game of the year, possibly for the last few years.
It'd be just our luck we nurse him through years of OP, then leaves us and explodes for a new team.

For everyone here saying Ball for 2010 is worth a 1st round pick, minimum, must also think James Hird would still be worth 2 first round picks... afterall he is a 2-time premeriship player, premiership captain, multiple AA, Brownlow, Norm Smith etc...

Facts are Ball would be ranked somewhere between 18th and 24th on the Saints list by Lyon and his best footy is past him. 2nd round pick at best he is worth.

If Pies get Jolly then I'd do Fraser + 3rd round pick (maybe 2nd round) because King will probably call it quits and after Gardiner (old and injury prone) and McEvoy (still young and developing) they don't have much in the ruck.
